Bought my first Sebenza in 1995, still have it , still in service. Best knives for money value I've ever found, and I've bought knives from thirty dollars to one thousand seven hundred dollars. Years tell the story of value , not opinion.

I have three Sebenzas, just did the annual maintenance on all of them. One large and small 21, and a small regular which I just picked up. I used to have an Umnumzaan, and like a fool I sold it so I could pick up a Hinderer XM-18 flipper. Honestly, it's the Large Sebenza 21 that I've carried every day for 11 years. 6 years of that was as a police officer. It replaced my Benchmade AFCK, and it performed flawlessly and still looks amazing. It is truly a lifetime knife.

Chris Reeve knives are phenomenal - not only are the grinds such that you can sharpen it for decades, for next to no money you can send your knife back for a complete refresh - a Knife that looks and performs like new for a lifetime!

Didn't know much about CRK until this video. I appreciate the education. As you said, it's funny that most don't see hard use even tho that's what they're made for! Thanks for sharing.

Very cool video!! I found it really interesting bc I’m actually saving for my first CRK now! I got to handle a 31 at a local knife shop that I didn’t know existed new me lol. This video just reassures me that saving for one will be worth it! Thank you 🙏

Very enlightening video Justin. You explained quite well why Chris Reeve Knives cost what they cost. Are they worth what they cost? That's up to each individual to decide for his or her self. Do I NEED a CRK? No, I do not. Would I like to have one? Oh hell yes! And, if I had enough coin of the realm, I'd order one today. Alas and alack, while I'm not totally broke, if river boat rides were a dime, all I could do would be stand at the dock and holler, "What a deal! Ain't that cheap!"

The short answer is no.. The longer answer is also no, but.. But the extra $200 you pay is for the name and all the small touches. The attention to detail and the extremely tight tolerances, take effort and precision. That takes time and time is money. However, 99% of knife users will never need or notice that level of detail.

Imo, yes they are worth it. Before I got my first, I was skeptical, thinking they might have been over hyped. It wasn't until I disassembled and reassembled that I had that moment of realization. No fiddling with little torx screws, tighten everything up and it goes right back to being perfectly centered, zero blade play. The fitment is at a very high tolerance. I have a large sebenza, large inkosi, and an umnumzaan. When the 31 comes out in s45vn, I'll be getting one for sure. Add in their warranty, spa treatment, I have no issues with their price.

I love my Chris Reeve knives, the first one I purchased was in the late eighties and I still have it. But to answer the question, no, they're not worth $500. There's no doubt they are exquisitely made with the best materials but today, there are so many wonderful knives out there with great materials well-made ball bearings and for like a hundred bucks!?!? No doubt, it's a tough business

Thanks for the videos 🏆 Some food for thought, the reason the CRK feels "hydraulic" or glassy is purely a side effect of the detent ball rubbing on the blade. Almost everything you are feeling when opening and closing one of these knives is the intense pressure of the lockbar and the detent ball scraping on the blade steel. That being said, your salve grease obviously made a huge difference in the action in a later video 🏆

I bought one, a large Inkosi and that’s all I’ll ever need. I use all my knives, but the CRK almost never makes into rotation. I much prefer the XM-18 as a user not sure why just the way it is. PM2 shaman also beat the CRK to pocket. Glad for others rank them so high YMMV.

Yes they are worth the money, how many knives can you remove the pivot screw from and the knife remains centered without blade play and how many knives that are around now will still be as relevant in 25yrs time?

Ask yourself why Chinese factories like WE and Reate who are producing knives for American designers that cost $400-$600, as well as CKF. Then ask yourself if an American made knife of similar quality is worth the same price. However, in my opinion, as CRK has produced the same knives for so long with little to no innovation, one would think their prices should have stayed in the $300 range.
