Heard a good comment somewhere on stock markets - Human nature in Kalyug swings between extreme greed and extreme fear, so anytime a company posts a small loss, Covid or some foreign report, then markets go haywire. Those balanced and disciplined will be fine. Don't fall for extreme greed or fear. Don't trade, invest longer term(this is generic advise). Opportunities arise during falls, if u are already investing in sip or so, which enables u to see patterns. Importantly, only invest ur excess which u are OK to loose. PPF, NPS, Gold, Fd then excess or small percentage go for markets, maybe 20% income if u can spare.

Great advice. Long term investing is the way to go. Compounding is just the best way to build your wealth

I call it the dilemma of 1 lac rupees !! FD gives you @ 6% pa - 6000 Equity can give 24%/36% pa - 24000/36000 which compounded doubles the money in 3/2 years . Time is the enemy . Holding stock for monthly gain of 2/3% is not hard . Just avoid intraday which forces time on your trade and if stock goes down just imagine you have an FD with 6% return annually and wait

He failed to mention that equity value goes down unexpectedly too, at least life insurance gives definite returns and in case of death, nominee gets complete amount without giving further installment. Stock, Mutual Funds and Insurance have different untility, first check what is your Priority and invest according to that.
