Hey Judnar, I actually wanted to check out a gaming headset. This video was very detailed and a great overview of two types of sound experiences. It's great you included all your friends in the video to give an objective and varied perspective on the comparison between the V-Moda M-100 and the A-50 headset. Great video, I think I'll try out the A-50 headset when I get a chance.

I bought a pair of Astro's the nice and returned them and went back to turtle beaches. have they gotten any better? I did a side by side and we heard footsteps in CoD much farther away with TB then the Astro's.

Did you use mixamp with vmoda?? I use vmoda crossfade with boom mic and astro mixamp. The mix amp is a game changer. I grew up with a brother who uses the astros and i can tell you that i prefer my Crossfade with mixamp.

Did you use a gaming amp with the regular headphones? I use an Earforce DSS amp ($15-$17 on ebay used) with my Sony MDR1000, so i get dolby 5.1 emulation. I use an Antonline mic also. I hook up my computer and game consoles to a stereo mixer and to a bluetooth wireless transmitter. One headset for 1 console and 3 computers...

I use the Audio Technica ATH m50x and use peace equalizer to tune the sounds. That is what you call perfection. I then set up hotkeys to toggle between music, gaming, movie, and editing to easily switch for the perfect audio. It is better to buy a headphone that have relatively neutral audio signatures for versatility.

Tyvm for the vid. I recently bought the Sony WH1000x M3 for gaming mainly because they were the only headphones I have been able to wear that sound good and don't hurt to wear after 4+ hours of use. Nearly every gaming headset I've tried has become physically painful to wear for long game sessions. The head pressure, hot ears, the sweating, and welts on the top of my head from the weight. My Sony WH1000x M3 may not sound as good as the gamer headsets they sure do sound good and don't hurt or feel uncomfortable at all.

nice video man...I always thought gaming headphones were a waste of money! I've just started going to the gym and I use my regular rockjaw alfa genus earphones...and while they're very good for regular use...they fall out all the time! Could u do a video about the best gym headphones or earphones (whichever is better) bluetooth preferably?!?!?! PLEEEASSSSE!!

Try some jaybirds. You can get the x2s (last gen ones, came out in 2015) for really cheap off of ebay, sometimes even new.

An average consumer wouldn't pay for a $300 pair of gaming headphones. Would like to see a more reasonable comparison though.

Sennheiser HD598Cs or HD598s + Mod Mic = $150 compared to $300+ www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Cs-Headphone/dp/B01JP436TS/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1490314213&sr=8-3-fkmr1&keywords=sennheiser+and+modmic They offer a great sound, not surround but its such a good sound stage it allows you to hear all those faint sounds, you just loose out on directions a little, you can still hear left and right, back and front but you won't hear much of a different between those transitions.

Then they obviously wouldn't be looking at gaming headphones now would they. So its a mute issue. If your price point is $80 then your looking at a 1st party headset, like the Xbox One Stereo Headset for $70.

As much as I like the V-Moda m100s, the Astro A50s are a pice of work, wireless over ear, customizability, great surround sound, and only $50 USD more than the m100s. I would be curious about a pt2 with people listening to FLAC files for music where the gaming scenario favors surround as music favors sound stage and balance.

I have jbl home theater for ps4 pro which sounds awesome for gaming and i have sony sb450 for gaming which sounds equally good like any expensive gaming headset. It all depends on big mm driver in headset . Go for 40 or 50 mm driver headset , it will sure sound good for gaming .

V-Modas+ Boom mic with the Astro Mix Amp make the best gaming headset. You have to get the Astro Mix Amp in order to give the V modas the 7.1 surround sound effect.

I own the A50s and v-Moda m-200s, I wonder if this would be completely different on ps5 running both through tempest 3d. In this example, you compared 7.1 surround to stereo (unless you used a dac/amp). Would be great to run this back on ps5 on a fps.

I am a musician as well as a gamer so I use my Sennheiser HD598SE's and a RODE NT1-A as my Mic. the mic is completely overkill, but if you have a spare $200 laying around I HIGHLY recommend the Sennheiser HD598's I can hear a fly fart in Windhelm from Whiterun in Skyrim. The headphones are dope. I have also used all sorts of "gaming headsets" and I'd take my setup ANY day. more clarity and I still get the surround sound feeling.

A lot of comments that the Astros were loud. Are you sure they weren't just hearing more because it was higher volume, they might be more sensitive than the V-moda and so would be louder at the same TV volume.

You should do a round two with sennheiser HD 598 or other open-back "normal" headphones. I think that would be where non-gaming headphones would really shine.

Many of Astro's headsets are open back which provides a wider sound stage, and for that reason, a more immersive experience. If you a good pair of open back headphones, the comparison could potentially be a lot closer.

you can make any headphone into a gaming headphone through real tek equalizer on pc just bump up the frequency from 31-250 to top and bump up all 500-16k frequency to top and reduce by on point you can hear everything around the video. for movies set the frequency curve to v shape it will highlight the explosion for music set the frequency curve to flat/none.

I was tired of gaming headphones having crappy build quality and sound so i got my audio technica a50s and i opened them up and removed the locking mechanism, then i bought the attachable v moda pro mic, then got an adapter and now i use my a50s as a gaming headset

SugarGamesNL dont even try, gaming headsets sound pretty odd for music, just buy some decent open back headphones, open back headphones are pretty good for gaming and for music.

Imo using better headphones with a mixamp is the best. I use a pair of DT990 250 ohm with an Astro Mixamp hooked to a traditional desktop headphone amp. It sounds great and I get the mixamp sound processing. So it goes from my XB/PS4 to the mixamp to the desktop headphone amp to the DT990s

I think a big part of why the V-Modas were not liked as much is because you connected them straight to the controller. The DAC in the DS4 controller is pretty bad, and the sounds also get compressed over the Bluetooth connection.
