I use the "GARDENA Premium Multi Sprayer" and the "Gardena Wall-Mounted Hose Box RollUp XL, 35m". Can't recommend them enough, auto reel has been amazing and have left the gun in the hook underneath. Been using both for 3 years now and not a hickup at all. They are a step up in quality from the hozelock stuff but come at a premium price, "you get what you pay for".

Gardea fan here, fed up of Hozelock connections leaking and being cheap. Got the Gardena floor mount reel. Been brilliant! Just pull, and then a yank to auto reel back. Premium Gardena gun tho leaked (silly me left it outside in frost)

Very timely as I'm about to move house and considering retiring the current 20 year old Hozelock reel.

I've owned five or six different wall mounted hose reels, both Gardena and Hozelock. They typically crack when I don't get them indoor before the frost comes. The last 3 years I've had a 35m Gardena RollUp XL which is really good. It is self draining so no need to take it off during winter time. Also the spring is still strong enough to pull the hose back in, which has not been the case for the other ones after some time of use. As for the nozzle I now use the Gardena Premium Cleaning Nozzle, which is far better than any others I have used. It has metal hose connection and nozzle, and high quality rubber/plastic for the rest. It does not break, unless you leave it filled with water during the winter frost.

After a Hozelock and Karcher wall mounted I’ve got a self real Gardena, this so far seems the best. Also had the premium Hozelock, Karcher and Gardena spray gun, all started leaking. Got a metal gun from Toolstation for £5, got it to replace Karcher gun now it’s replaced Gardena and lasted a lot longer.

I bought Gardena and a role with 50 meter hose top end and it is fantastic. I needed 50 meter to clean the caravan in storage works well. It is all metal not plastic but cost more. My wall mount unit is now 17 years old and like you a keep cutting lengths.

Great video John. I'd look at getting a kiam or intrico industrial products hose reel and I know a friend who's been banging on about a V-tuf multi function trigger head 👍🏼 hope you get sorted eventually

Btw my Hozelock trigger lasted about 10 years, I don't know if the quality has dropped off, and I do look after my things better than most. I think I'd prefer plastic construction over metal since the plastic won't rust or corroded. Having said that, I think Homebase or B&Q did a full brass construction range. Even the tap adaptor and hose ends are brass I think.

Just bought a hose lock system for around £50. All the bits and bobs with it. Can’t fault it really. Paired it with my AVA Go and 🤩 what a combination. The snow foam lance is amazing with autoglym polar. Okay I have soft water but really , it’s a game changer.

Ive just put a pressure washer reel up near my garage door from direct hoses, wish id done it years ago. Luckily i have a space for the pressure washer to sit connected up permanently. You can just run a garden hose to the pressure washer neatly somewhere to connect it up.

I can recommend the Gardenia wall mounted reel. Had it about 3 years, fitted to an outside wall so exposed to all weathers. No handle to crank, just pull the hose to release the ratchet and it self-winds. Had to replace the cheapo Hozelock gun, but that maybe due to being lazy and letting it drag on the path when re-winding the hose.

I replaced all of my Hozelock connectors with metal GEKA Quick Click Hose End Connectors, they are a lot more sturdy that the standard plastic types. As for spray gun;s I've used the heavy duty metal garden hose types around £20 from places such as Amazon.

What i do with the internals of these hose guns is add a little oil inside the gun now and again as the plastic triggers dry out and grind against the gun when pulling it in sounds daft but it works

You probably want to check out professional / industrial grade reels. CEJN, a Swedish brand makes pneumatic/fluid hoses, reels and couplings. They can Be hard to find. Usually sold to companies, but private people can buy them. But typically you have to ask a quote for products. Nito Clean is also a water gun that is used in professional scene . I live in Finland, but I would guess in UK you can find them or similar tools

Maybe I’m the only one who’s had a poor Hozelock hose. I bought the anti-kink and from day one it kinked. Brought a vonHaus that is auto-wined that’s on my wall and is fantastic. Paid £60 off Amazon. Has a place for the hose end when not in use on the system. Hozelock are good for accessories but I’ll never use them for hoses again. The Hozelock kept having pin pricks so had to do the same as you John with chopping the hose down. Had it for 3 years and now it’s sat in the shed gathering dust, love the VonHaus ❤

Just use a pump sprayer... That's what I do when I'm playing with the test panel. That way, you can have a fine mist, and the pressure of the water isn't having any effect on the cleanbility of the product your testing.

John you need to look at the Flowpro professional reel with the elite fittings and hose. It’s a stainless/ aluminium construction and by far the best consumer reel out there without any of the retractable smack you in the shins & face B.S I purchased one a few months back and it’s the best consumer unit I’ve ever purchased. Sure you have to use your brain a little and get all the bits separately but it’s well worth it 👍

Off topic slightly Jon but id like to advise people not to use auto stop or aqua stop hose fittings with your pressure washer as it causes pressure build up in the machine with subsequent part failures . AVA definitely mention it with their machines.

Sounds like you need a dual approach. Keep the Hoselock setup for the garden, split the outside tap into two flows and add a big boi washr fix wall mount pro and duo setup in the garage. You can increase the hose length for the garage to 20 metres. It also has the holders for the various nozzels and trigger gun, commercial grade reel, metal and powder coated. Might be worth a look!

The problem with hozelock is the 3 plastic prongs inside the coupler, they always fail, they make metal male fittings on the expensive guns but theres no metal coupler, i think they make them as a consumable.

Hi John! I have the same setup and it's perfect. Make sure you remove the Aqua stop hozelock fittings because they significantly reduce the water pressure. I just kink the hose to stop the water if needed. The FANHAO spray gun on Amazon is indestructible. It has a brass adjustable spray nozzle👍

Instead of buying the whole new reel and winder why didn't you just replace the hose within. Also the Hozelock straight jet ends with a twist on/off are reliable. Don't chuck em if they start leaking from the connection just replace the sealing o ring.

the green plastic reel casing had taken some abuse mate it worked but the handle would sometimes loose its crank and you had to punch the face of it to get it to crank.
