I was even following a tumblr dedicated to snsd messing up and they QUIT because it was just 75% Tiffany (20% Jess and 4% Seohyun. 1%the other members lol) I agree, I 100% agree on her point dont misunderstand, I just 😂 dont think she should be the one to deliver it. Pretty much agree(not all idols nowadays btw I need to clarify that) but I think its okay to not give your 100% doing rehearsal, being an idol is tough, it's exhausting and many idols are very young, I think its okay for them to be a little in quotes "lazy" when they don't "have to" give their 100%

If tiffany had talked about Idols who do it lazily in rehearsals and during on-air performance or pre-recorded shows for some comebacks or special event I would understand her, but she also forget to mention that those new individual fancams are recorded 3 to 4 times so a lot of the time the idols are tired of performing the same song, that now there are many more Idols performing on different TV programs and the waiting time is longer and they need to be all day on backstage doing also lives, filming content for YT, doing interviews and a bunch of TT challenges. But what did I expected from an idol who never got difficult choreographies? What did I expected from an idol who seems to forget that she debuted under a company that dominated most of the media in her golden era? I mean her company had the power to ban 3 idols from every media in korea and also forget that her girl group is the definition of PRIVILEGED group in every way, they always received good treatment from everyone everywhere, they never received rude comments from the tv or radio staffs, even until this days SNSD is "untouchable" for example: 1) In 2016 tiffany used a sticker of the old flag of Japan on Korean Independence Day, "apologized" with a handwritten letter and that's it, she keep posting about her life and everyone was happy with her "apologies", but if today an idol makes a mistake with a name of a holiday cause they also grown up outside of korea, forget the name of a dish or talks about wanting to know about history outside Korea they are hated and everyone bring back that topic every time they can. 2) Nobody hated the fans of tiffany and snsd when they went to leave hate messages because the original name of the TXT fandom was similar to the Tiffany's. Days after days of talking about TXT until they changed their fandom name and NO ONE demanded that Tiffany should calm down her fans or calm the situation that her fans started, but nowadays people demand that every idol should solve and give their opinion on every issue and they also demand that they take responsibility for their fandoms. 3) Or the more recent controversy where many learned that the brother of an SNSD member is in prison for recording videos of SA/SH without the consent of the women involved and distributing them, as well as the SA of women who were drugg3d and then threatened, and I don't see anyone trying to boycott the group or the members who are still in a relationship with that family... But i can see an idol from the same company who received death threats just for having a boyfriend. Obviously she has every right to speak on this issue an the new era of kpop from her biased reality 😒 when was the last time she did a regular over packed idol schedule?

The choreography’s are getting harder and harder every year. Many people complain, when they cant even dance for 40 secs without getting tired. Its hypocritical at most. I expected a bit more valuable input from a veteran like Tiffany.

Kind of think this opinion was a flop from her. Like for some idols I do think this criticism is valid but in general idols work very hard and this strategy of dancing more relaxed when the camera is not on them is actually a great and smart way for idols to save energy especially when their choreo is so intense. Honestly, I don’t entirely agree with this. During 2nd generation, girl groups had somewhat easier dances which would be easy to quickly rehearse backstage compared to now. Yes, it’s great to acknowledge the sheer amount of effort and dedication older idols put into their work, but the idol industry has changed a lot from 2nd generation. As K-pop enters 5th generation, the emphasis on standing out is stronger than before. All attributes to K-pop now have to be extreme, excluding dancing. Don’t get me wrong, crazy dances have been introduced even then, but now it’s become the norm to perfectly execute literal workouts as dances while singing with insane pitches, which for the normal person is exhausting. So, idols decide to persevere their energy before stages so they don’t end up giving a bad performance. This method seems to best suit current idols while they prepare for stages. Therefore, I don’t think the 2 generations are comparable, and there’s more Tiffany has to consider before making complaints because as she knows, the K-industry is complicated and has many layers. P.S: Please do not confuse me for being those k-pop fans who blindly defend their favorite idols despite valid concerns. This is simply my opinion on this situation. As I stated earlier, I do partially agree with Tiffany’s statement to an extent, but there’s also underlying issues with her claim that I wanted to address myself. If you already proved you can sing and dance well live it’s ok to chill during rehearsals. If a group isn’t as established or hasn’t practiced live enough, it’s better to give energy during rehearsals to be more prepared.

I think it's smarter to save your energy for the real deal. Take it show and relaxed during stage rehersal and give it all you got when it's show time. Plus they probably practiced alot in studio and practice rooms beforehand.

The reason why Tiffany says a artist should always give it their all is because you never know who maybe looking your way, admiring you and your hardwork. Another reason is that if a artist truly loves their craft they they'll give it their all to the craft. I'm only giving more context to Tiffanys words, its ok for Idols to be relaxed.

She’s right! The main problem especially with 5th Gen is that many groups are automatically handed endorsement deals and become brand ambassadors right after they debut and that goes to their heads which kills that hunger inside. Why work hard to eat when you’re automatically handed a buffet?

I agree that idols should be giving their all during their performances but I just don’t see how that’s possible in their current environment. For the 5th gen group I follow, I have no idea how they have the energy to keep up with their comeback schedules. They’re practically always filming content and they perform so many times in a day. And if they’re not doing that, they’re practicing or travelling. On top of that, the new trend seems to be releasing music more often. Pretty much all the 4th/5th gen groups have prerelease tracks + a title track and b-sides with track videos and/or performances. For the group I like, they released 2 songs in Aug 2023, 1 in Sept, another in Oct, 1 in January, and 3 in April, and 1 coming in June. And those are just the songs with music videos or choreo. As a fan, if they slack off a little during some rehearsals or performances I would be okay with it.

ive been saying this for so long. choreography and singing needs rehearsals, every stage is different. if they don't take rehearsals serious, its not the end of the world, but it changes my perception of them. worse if the real performance is lackluster. i wouldn't say lazy, but *unprofessional and selfish.* some stans dont care if their fav isn't that passionate, to me it matters tons. i keep thinking back to choir and basketball practices; just because i dont have the ball, doesn't mean i can kick rocks in the back and relax. i cant stop singing in group parts just cuz the other voices will cover up the lack of mine. as long as the game/show is on, you give 100. if i said i dont need more practice, my coach woulda kicked my ass for getting cocky. it took way less to hear the phrase *"do you want to be part of this team or not?"* you mess up, the whole team carries the burden. idols that dont seem passionate and not like team players, im never interested in. these conversations can quickly turn hateful and toxic, which i dont want to add to, but when i see messy performances or idols skipping many parts, i cant help but think, if you dont wanna be here, doing what you're supposed to do, why should i care about it then? you dont take it serious, so neither can i. a dancer avoiding dancing, a singer avoiding singing, i dont see the appeal. long story short: yeah she right lol.

As a performer myself, what Tiffany said is absolutely right. Ive been performing on stages for about 10 years almost and all these time I gave nothing eventhough I had potential to do better. Later when time came I realized how I was wasting my time performing with less efforts. It becomes a really embarassing a shameful moment when that time comes. From then, it became compulsory for me to do better and better each time. Doing your best each time makes you better at the very end and when you get the hang of it, you improve the mostm

There’s a difference between just being bad at the job vs always trying your best. The excuse is always “what if their best isn’t good enough”? Then push to do better? That’s life. We must always strive for better. That doesn’t mean work until you’re in the ground. That means you obviously see a difference between you and other idols and you’ve got to find something that you can do better. It’s really that simple.

Agree completely with Fany. SNSD had a long time joke that Sunny was a camera stealer because she was always putting in 200% even when she was in the back. That should be standard.

Do not agree at all. Idols now days definitely have really packed schedules which is exhausting enough itself. The choreography is really challenging and the vocals are really high as well. Idols do their best on stage, it's really not practical to spend all their energy before their performance just for a sound check or rehearsal, instead, they should invest and showcase that in their live performances. I really didn't appreciate how she said and implied that since she had to work harder to come in the frame as they danced really behind but now idols don't have to do that, they are lazy. Reminds me of how my parents say that I'm so privileged to have all this advanced technology so I should be a lot more successful than them since they didn't have that. Just illogical.

That’s the whole point of a…rehearsal?😭Like nowadays the choreographies are much more complex, I don’t blame the idols for saving their energy for the real thing. However at the same time, if you don’t put in effort during rehearsals then you will not be prepared for the real thing. I’d say it’s a balance. Don’t overwork yourself to the point where it’s tiresome, but just enough. So while I do disagree with Tiffany, her points are also valid.

As some one who performs classical music, in general music, it’s well known among performers that you shouldn’t go all out during rehearsals right before the actual performance (where fan cams can be recorded ). We call this performance chops, because your body can only take it for so long. Not only this, but with vitality of kpop,there is soooooo much more pressure, stress, and anxiety kpop stars face from even MORE fans. The biggest difference being the skill it takes for modern kpop dances. Her cheoro was not NO WHERE near as difficult as “lazy groups.” Even then… calling a kpop idol lazy is practically impossible… if they were lazy… they would not be a kpop idol. Surely a lazy person could no be on strict diets, do 1 million ambassadorships, take flights so often, practice, do concerts, fan meets, go to so many variety shows, etc. It’s more so that some of them are not as strong in some aspects. They are not weird for not being perfect… yes, I like idols who are passionate, but at the same time, the word lazy does not make sense in the context of idols
