The simple answer. Lots of experimentation and swab testing. Also performed dilution test and had a friend that still has access to lab spectrophotometer for fluids to measure both OEM pgi72 and inks I harvested from hundreds of near empty pgi29 carts. Inks for PRO2000 and up can be used directly. Grays can be an issue so I just you those from precisioncolors as they are pretty much identical.

I have been watching your videos for few weeks now, and recently I got myself a Pro 10 and other necessary accessories. I just wanted to say, after looking at my first print on hand I was speechless. It is absolutely gorgeous and feels amazing to see my final pictures on hand. Whenever my wife wants to see a print, to her annoyance I urge her to stand near the window and look or come under the neutral light :D I know you have covered this before and mentioned it's very subjective topic, but what's your personal preference when it comes to choosing a Paper for a particular picture? I mean is it "just" (I am smiling at just) experience that tells you "I think this picture will look good on matte vs Satin".. which I think it is but still would like to know. Also, how do you store your pictures? any special precautions other than usual? I appreciate your time in responding.Thanks again!!

Yes it is still totally subjective although you would not want to print an image of a baby on a metallic surface paper. I mean some things are actually quite obvious. A warm base paper but not be used to print an image of a cold Glacier scene and of course you wouldn't want to print some delicate pastel flower scape on a cold base paper.
