Firstly there is no concept of Conversion in "Hinduism" You can have multiple and different types of beliefs and call urself a "Hindu" Btw the correct terminology would be Sanatana Dharma which incorporates ideologies from Jainism Buddhism and Sikhism... So a practitioner of any of these ideologies becomes a Sanatani.. A Hindu is actually any person living across the 'Sapta-Sindhu' or the 7 rivers...which is what the Persians started calling ancient Indians ..H-indostani...which became Indos in Greek also the Indus valley civilization...n eventually India So Hindus are Indian people irrespective of faith Anyone outside following Sanatana Dharma is a Sanatani

The so called "Many Gods" theory also means that there can be different versions or reality and acceptance is the key for a "religion. Even Atheism is accepted in God. This removes a lot of confrontation. Abrahamic religions are all about FORCING their version of their "religion" making it exclusive and not inclusive. As a FACT they have used VI0LENCE to FORCE their views to convert. Abrahamic religions don't provide answers to some deep spiritual questions but just some ORDERS to follow like some DUMB! No wonder Abrahamic is on decline due to spiritual bankruptcy! I personally know many WHITE Christian people who changed their views totally when they came here and understood Hinduism! They told me they got no logical answers to their questions by their own religious leaders!

The 5 castes of hinduism Brahmins: the priestly caste. After their religious role decreased they became the caste of officialdom. Kshatriya: warrior caste. The kshatriya class were direct descendants of the warriors that had conquered India. Vaisya: the commoner caste. Generally the third caste comprised the merchants. Sudras: represented the great bulk of the Indian population. Most of the sudras were peasants, artisans or others who worked in manual labor. Untouchables: descendants of slaves or prisoners. The untouchables were given menial degrading work that no others would do.

@@MrWilsonVolleyBall Representative of Hinduism already answered the question. I want to give my elaborate view on this. I want to start from last one the untouchables. There are four casts in Hinduism non of them are untouchables. Hinduism believe in seeing god in all. Then how and when the untouchablity enter in Indian society. The fact is that there was a tradition in ancient India to social boycott of some people who did some serious crime. They were not allowed to use common places. If you observe in past their homes are in isolated places away from nearby villages. They use to do which other people do not like to do. It was a bad and wrong tradition non of our scriptures endrose it. Now I want to share my view on castism. In Bhagbat Gita it is said by lord Krishna that he has created four Varnas (not cast) according to their nature and work (not on the basis of their birth) Bramhan (intellectuals) khyatriya (administrator or warriors) vasya ( the business men) and sudra( the working people). You can see in every society all these people exist. It is also said he created bramhan from head khyatriya from hands vyasa from centre and sudra from foot. To me it means intellectual are like brains of any society administration are like protective arm business people work as middle men like blood vessels but it is the work of the working group on the basis of which society moves ahead. They are all important for society no one is big or small. It also said in Upanishads that every person by birth is sudra(working group) after sanskar ie (good education) he has a second birth. When he engaged in deep study ready for higher discussion when he know bramhan (big or great) become bramhan ( intellectual). Mean by birth we all belong to working class when we aquire vast knowledge then we considered as intellectuals. But many misinterpreted it and make it castism. I strongly oppose it. It is not our culture. I hate castism.🙏 Thanks 🙏

I'm Balinese. Salute and I fully agree with Jay Lakhani, that we should promote spiritual humanism. Above our belief we should seek the truth by our own experience, not just blindly belief.

And what is the truth? That there MUST be a First Cause. It would be silly to think that that First Cause has not made Himself known to a man. But now He has - and we all KNOW it within ourselves, and we know that that entity is One Singular Being. But we ignore Him and make gods which allow ourselves be gods made in our own image. What me-god wants, me-god gets - don't tell me what to do. I am me. Hmm...I might make that monkey my god, say my thing and go on in my merry ways. He won't bother me. In the end I will join the universal soul, and enter into oblivion. And be no more. In the meanwhile, I am a slave to my body, and nothing I can do about it - unless I get help from without. Now, the First Cause said, "I am ther Truth!" And "Seek for Me, and you will find Me, if you seek for me with all of your heart."

As a christian as per my understanding, Hinduism is like democracy where you can worship anything anyone anywhere but the sense of whats good and whats bad should be decided by you. I wondered why animals and natural elements are worshipped. But it may be to protect those things from human abuses. For example they worship 5 bhutas, which are natural and real, they worship women, it suggests better respecting them than restricting. They worship cows, tigers as they knew they too have a life. Some hindus eat meat some won't, some kills some saves, some cuts tree some saves. According to me its as said by someone its a way of life. A better you make your life a better way it is ❤️

Hinduism teaches to see Divinity in every thing, living and non-living. When you say many gods, it is just that. The soul in everyone is eternal. The journey is to find the reality of one's own nature which is Divine. Just because someone is born into Hinduism doesn't necessarily make them anything. Everyone is at a different stage in their journey. When you see vegetarians, non-vegetarians, saints or sinners, all are at a different stage. Sanatana Dharma, the actual practice of that land is all inclusive. And requires you to be considerate of everyone irrespective of where they are in their journey. Religion is a western concept.

Hinduism term has just come before few centuries.. before that people worshipped energy sources... Like varuna(water),agni(fire),indra(thunder),vayu(wind),surya(sun),chnadra(moon) as it give light at night, and other nature substance were connected with gods to be preserved ...the concept of 3 gods brahma vishnu mahesh came in later vedic period... But you can't and never find this word hindu in hindu scriptures 🤣🤣🤣🤣 bcs hindu is word came from arabic and Persian mixture to adress people around sindhu river and their rituals 🤣🤣

@Mithilesh Rathod I know that u know nothing about SANTHANA DHARMA. firstly it is not religion. It's knowledge and culture forwarded to their generation. We see god in everything thing from rock to tree , dog to cow , & river to sky. bharat is the most developed country in the world at that time. We invented mostly everything. U don't know fucking crap. U just misleaded . U are searching the mistakes in Santhana dharma like caste system. Bro caste came from their works. Pandit means poojari who serves temple. Sakali means washerman. Vandra means carpenter. We misunderstood caste system. And remembered only high lows in it. We still worship KRISHNA who is gola caste( goats keeper). Santana dharma is full of diverse ideologies and different meanings. We have plenty of theories. Buddhism is also a part Santhana dharma. Who represents many Indian gods to Japan China and Indonesia. U can find statues of indian gods in foreign countries.

Also Lord.Krishna's original form include everything we, gods Lord.Brahma Lord.Vishnu Lord.Shiva along with the devils everything. Also Kirshna is ohm. The sound of universe. In bahagavad Gita means (celestial song) Lord.Krishna says to warrior Arjuna all the Vedas are from me just give me your worship, gifts, You will be protected. The one who knows the beauty of Lotus feet of Lord.Krishna will never attract to another material existence. The name Krishna have countless meanings river of love, river of bliss, goes on. Just hear Krishna you will , wondered when say the name Krishna it is giving us a bliss, freshness. Also Krishna says Many people worship me, without knowing me also through the wrong way in Gita. To see the direct advices of Lord.Krishna then Gita must be read. Bhagavad Gita must be read.

If you are a true Hindu or A follower of Sanatana Dharma, you will eventually come to know that God is everywhere and is everything. Being a follower of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda, I am lucky enough to know these beautiful insights. Whatever name you give to the ultimate, God or Allah or Krishna or Emptiness(Buddhist ways) or the Brahman, it is still the same ultimate reality. A person can always practice his or her religion peacefully without going in to feud with others, and as such truth is 1 ,just the people speak of it in different ways, as stated in one of the most ancient text, The Rig Veda, "Ekam Saath, Bipra Bahuda vadanti"-"Truth is one, the learned speak of it in different ways"....similarly Ramakrishna says, "Joto mot toto poth" in Bengali, "Infinite paths to the Infinite ".

It takes a deep understanding and spiritual awakening to understand Hinduism. Hinduism doesn't claim. It gives one the freedom to think and analyse. A person who have understood what Hinduism means, have attended a different level of vibration and enlightenment and hardly those who don't open their mind would understand. And they always try to point out about the caste system, in fact, there isn't caste system in India, the word caste was a term from english language. It was in fact, works assigned to a particular community of that time, it didn't meant one is higher or lower, but sadly the British build concept has been in the minds of some Indians and that's why the question of caste system comes in India. Sanatan Dharma, is what it's called, it's not even a religion, the monotheistic concept of religion. Sanatan dharma is a way of life, the oldest way of life, the dharma which gave the world so much starting from yoga, Ayurveda to all the scientific findings which was already written in the Vedas. There is no point in saying this is my religion or this is yours, accept what is good for the whole humanity, and for the survival of human race, sanatan dharma is the only way, as it's says "The world is one family". While the monotheistic concept has words like" Infidels or kafir". Those who understand this will understand and those who don't, open up your brains. Life is all about choices, even when you see what is right and just ignore it and do the opposite, what's the point of your life.

Hindu/dharmic tradition is not simply a "way of life". Dogs, cats, terrorists also have their own way life. @@surajkant1271 Hindu tradition does not worship anything. It reveres everything which abides by dharma or the natural law. eg Cows (since it does its dharmic duty of providing milk). Stone deities in hindu temples are neither for “worship” nor for “prayer”. Stone deities in Hindu temples are for 2 reasons. a. They are used as objects of attraction (so given bath, food and dressed up) for focus and meditation in the presence of Sanskrit mantra vibrations, augmented by temple architecture and sanctum sanctorum (space where deities are kept). So, hindu temples are seen as powerful energy centers. This technique is for reaching samadhi state which is nothing but the disappearance of perception of subject (ego self) and object (external world or the deity focused upon) split momentarily (temple tradition) or temporarily and permanently (in Yoga tradition) to remove past karma or cause and effect (stored in the subtle body Chitta) and stop reincarnation (birth/death duality cycle) or to fulfill desires with reduced karmic burden b. Stone deities are also symbolic representations of the well validated Vedic metaphysics Sankhya, nature (surya, chandra devatas etc) and laws of nature (Karma, Dharma devatas etc). c. Some of the rituals are also symbolic like offering flowers (to give up memories), bananas (for giving up attachments to anything achieved) and breaking coconuts (to give up ego). As far as "ritual powder" or Vibhuti is concerned, it is nothing, but ash applied on the forehead. It is interpreted either as a symbolic reminder that this body is temporary and will be eventually cremated or just to show that in expanded states of consciousness (so called opening of third eye) one can get cosmic experience.(which is equivalent to manifesting matter)

I love how Christians and Muslims are suddenly united and defending each other against polytheism. I don't understand why can't I hold back my chuckle. God help me.
@Dharmicaction
@Dharmicaction Жыл бұрын
1. Hindu tradition does not follow "Polytheism". Why? Polytheism believes in the existence of many independent and distinct gods, completely unrelated to each other. The polytheists lacked any understanding of the inherent unity of every manifest thing, including their multiple gods. We can call so called "Pagans" outside India as polytheists since they lost touch with correct understanding of well validated Vedic metaphysics. 2. Hindu tradition is not based on pantheism either. Why? Pantheism believes that there is only immanence/omnipresence of the conscious and immanent self or the soul but no transcendence (cosmic self). 3. Of course, hindu tradition is not based on monotheism either. Why? The monotheistic core of all the 3 Abrahamic religions simply says that there is just a transcendent god who is totally disconnected from the universe but still can create the universe and its "laws of nature" out of thin air and override them (whenever wanted) and control everything by just using a magic wand😊 In other words, none of the Abrahamic religions were built around any well validated metaphysics...It led to needless prophets/middlemen/son of god/messiah (especially in Christianity and Islam), angels, blind belief in a book. nonexistent heaven/hell, fantasy stories (propagated as history), proselytization, and half-baked responsibilities towards nature and discrimination/violence against (non-believer) due to lack of understanding of Karma or cause and effect (created by human ego-based identities/ideologies/theologies), reincarnation (birth/death duality cycle) and Moksha (microcosm to macrocosm). Monotheism cannot be validated. 4. Then what is hindu tradition based on ? Well validated Vedic metaphysics Sankhya which says that the conscious, immanent (soul or the conscious self) transcendent and omnipresent cosmic self and the material energy always exist together for the perpetual duality cycles of nature to happen eg Birth/death (Including reincarnation cycle of humans), manifestation/concealment duality cycle of the universe (NOT CREATION OR DESTRUCTION) etc. Sankhya Vedic metaphysics can be validated by logic, double slit quantum experiment and embodied experience. 5. A CHAPTER 1 and verse 2 of ATHARVA VEDA ((here i have used soul for the Sanskrit word athma for easy understanding even though they don’t have the same definition) Ayam Atma Brahma" - "This Self (soul or the nondual immanent self) is Brahman (omnipresent and transcendent cosmic self)" B. CHAPTER 6 verse 8.7 of SAMA VEDA "Tat Tvam Asi" - you (immanent and conscious soul) are (already) that (Brahman). Identification with thoughts and body is just an illusion created by lack of knowledge, wrong assumption that the body is the experiencer of 5 senses (instead of the nondual soul which is NOT the doer) and ego (false sense of I) C. CHAPTER 1 and verse 4.10 of ATHARVA VEDA. "Aham Brahmasmi" meaning "I am Brahman" (conscious, immanent and omnipresent soul = cosmic conscious self or Brahman) D. Chapter 3 and verse 3 of RIG VEDA "Prajnanam Brahma" means conscious soul = the cosmic self or the Brahman. In other words, the soul is only one (not multiple souls) and it is conscious, immortal, immutable, self luminous, immanent, omnipresent and transcendent cosmic self . 6. Hindu/Vedas say the consciousness is an attribute of the immanent self (just like heat is an attribute of fire and the sun) which is also all pervading (omnipresent) just like a thread which passes through different pearls (animate and inanimate). It is because of the immanent and omnipresent self there is consciousness in the psycho-physical body. But in Abrahamic religions there is no connection between consciousness and the soul. ERWIN SCHRODINGER (ONE OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS OF QUANTUM MECHANICS) Schrodinger's biographer Moore, wrote -- “His system - or that of the Hindu Upanishads/Vedas - is delightful and consistent: the self and the world are one and they are all. He rejected traditional western religious beliefs (Jewish, Christian, and Islamic) not on the basis of any reasoned argument, nor even with an expression of emotional antipathy, for he loved to use religious expressions and metaphors, but simply by saying that they are naïve--and will NOT understand Quantum theory and consciousness. (CONSCIOUS AND OMNIPRESENT SELF = SHIVA and W0RLD/UNIVERSE = SHAKTHI) Erwin Schrodinger wrote: “Vedanta teaches that consciousness is singular, all happenings are played out in one universal consciousness and there is no multiplicity of selves.”

Except the fact that there is no worship or prayer going on. Stone deities are also symbolic representations of the well validated Vedic metaphysics Sankhya, nature (surya (sun), chandra (moon), rain, thunder devatas etc) and laws of nature (Karma, Dharma devatas etc). Devatas maintain cosmic order.

But Hindu tradition neither uses the word "god" nor "worship"/"pray" based on monotheism (followed by Abrahamic religions) which simply says that there is just a transcendent god who is totally disconnected from the universe but still can “create” the universe and its "laws of nature" out of thin air and override them (whenever wanted) and control everything by just using a magic wand😊. Monotheism cannot be validated. In other words, none of the Abrahamic religions were built around any well validated metaphysics...It led to needless prophets/middlemen/son of god/messiah, angels, blind belief in a book. nonexistent heaven/hell, fantasy stories (propagated as history), proselytization, and half-baked responsibilities towards nature and discrimination/violence against (non-believers) due to lack of understanding of dharma (one should abide by natural law by following ethics, duty, virtue), law of Karma or cause and effect (created by memories, likes/dislikes and violation of dharma or the natural law), reincarnation (birth/death duality cycle of humans triggered by karma or cause and effect) and Moksha (microcosm to macrocosm)

Hinduism is so broad as to include atheistic schools. The Nasadiya Sukta of the Rig Veda goes through the Hindu creation myth, yet concedes, the gods came after creation so no one can really say from where it all came. Any other religion this modest? No, they're all cock-sure of themselves as being the ONLY truth. There is a reason Hinduism has survived as the worlds oldest religion without crusades, wars or migrations; it is the most liberal, peaceful and inclusive religion.

Being an Atheist, i have examined various religions. If iam asked to choose one existing major religion for the world,it will be Hinduism as eradicating religion completely is probably impossible. Hinduism is damn liberal,spiritual democracy as that hindu guy said; so liberal that it's stupid even to call it a religion I was surprised to read in their Bhagwat Gita the character Krishna, whom Hindus consider God or a manifestation of the supreme ultimate reality called "Brahman", telling his friend Arjuna that even Atheists can attain oneness with the ultimate reality by the process of constantly acquiring knowledge both material and spiritual Now that sounds like a much more logical universal concept of God to me than an "omnipotent","Omniscient", and "Just" "God" who would say "Believe and fear me,else iam gonna fry all you guys in hell " . This religion inspite of having non-sensical mythologies and superstitious practices is still far more better than any Abrahamic faith in it's core philosophies,concept of God and consciousness,spirituality and cosmology and it's universal inclusiveness

It allows for better social approach to the holy and helps society work and be stable. I always say you can be a worshipper of one god such as Krishna or even be atheist. Isn't that better? Thank you for mentioning the goddess. Most people from the west always say three gods, but every village in India worships some goddess and she is supreme. From the oldest books of the veda she says, I take many names, i come in many forms. Love it.

"Way of life" Hindu/dharmic tradition is not simply a "way of life". Dogs, cats, terrorists also have their own way life. Point is we can rather define hindu/dharmic tradition (which is not a religion) as a tradition built around the well validated Vedic metaphysics Sankhya which is represented in the form of temples, deities, Sanskrit mantras, rituals, symbols, festivals, pilgrimage centers, ithihasas (Ramayana, Mahabhartha), Puranas with allegorical stories which represent laws of nature (including dharma, karma and reincarnation), mutts, YOGA/TANTRA, meditation techniques, Shastras (upanishads, Vedas, science, dance, music) etc.

Rituals and deities are also symbolic representation of nature, laws of nature and vedic metaphysics in addition to being used for removal of karma or cause and effect. You are also supposed to do your dharmic duty when some thing bad or adharma happens to people who are NOT your family members. Otherwise you would not only be branded as a selfish prick and but also create Karma. It was the reason why Sri Krishna killed Gauravas for not only causing trouble for Guaravas but also to their society

@@Dharmicaction Exactly what I meant when I mantioned Hindus being pushed to a limit. Hindus are not aggressive, and tolerate more than what is good for them, have less ego and understand their feebleness in the expanse of cosmos, however the gift of life is not branded feeble, and it's moral and physical mockery is not something anyone should tolerate, Hindus included. This is why the Pandavas spared Kauravas at an expense of great humiliation and yet, with a little push from Lord Krishna, took the final step to kill off their entire fighting clan, sparing only the elder and children. The line I mentioned here is just more flexible for Hindus, we are simply cool with more abuse because we know for a fact how worthless everything is. There are disciplines of Hindu knowledge which go beyond truth and values and morality, so please feel free to be a little broad minded when talking about Hinduism.

Not really - these are Master/Slave religions - born when Kings/Dictators/Strongmen ruled - their biggest concern was loyalty - enemies were everywhere - if you wanted to live in their land you must swear loyalty to them - try living in North Korea and saying something against the "Dear, loving leader" - that is how they shaped their Gods - "Get down on your knees, swear loyalty(belief) and beg for his mercy" and then of course the easy promises of the easy rewards Cheap religions making cheap promises Made sense to the ancients living under kings/Dictators but makes no sense now Amazing power of religion to brainwash even the best of us Hinduism is a far better faith You don't get to God by polishing the "right" shoes but by your actions(Karmas) Whether you get a job or a promotion or a contract should be based on your actions, not because you knew the right people(corrupt) Christianity and Islam are corrupt religions

Hello, in hinduism the number of god is not important. Brahman is the one universal soul that is made up of them. Meaning god is not a person sitting in heaven on a throne. He is everywhere and is made up of everything. Everything around is god. Think of it as we are a bacteria living harmoniously with its host. The host is god making up the universe and we are a tiny bacteria living with in him. But he is also the essence of life which means he is within us. Which means we have god inside of us and therefore we Hindus meditate to be in touch with that essence to find god within ourselves, in others, in other creatures, trees and inanimate objects. Hence, idol worship isn't taboo for us because we recognize that god is withon that statue as well and we use that as a tool to focus or to meditate same way muslims use the Kabaa and Christians use the cross. For us everything is holy and divine and there is nothing devoid of god. Hence, as a hindu you can believe in one, two or even many and it is not important as god is one but he is also many as his essence lies throughout the universe.
