This is a good answer but depending on the asker, it might not fully answer the question. The problem is that people often misunderstand this to mean that men and women are not inherently equal in value, station or honour just because of their gender. This is not the case and one of the evidences for this is verse 49:13. Shaykh Abu Iyaad explained this point with this verse and some hadiths in his book This is Islam. I think people should read the part of the book that explains women's issues to get a clear understanding.

Everything depends on context. Bringing down the general answer because a specific edge-case would require a different answer doesn't help neither the general case nor the edge-case.

@@nuhmanhanif288 And He made women better in many other matters. He also honoured the mother over the father in the Sunnah. We can debate all day at who is better at what, so what is your point? The point is that to Allah, people's virtue depends on their actions and not on something they didn't choose like gender.

@@pubcollize Yes but when many people talk about equality, they do talk about inherent worth and value. Very few people actually believe the strawman argument that says women and men are exactly the same.
