right? a patriarchal society and household always made sense to me, but i could never articulate it properly when a feminist or anti islamist brings it up. and it’s always men who bring the ayahs up? Like they don’t want masculine energy/responsibility? To be relied and depended upon? These men who challenge us on “men having authority over women” have been castrated.

@@rajaeelastname4878 yes slavery was a common practice back then, and everywhere not only in Arabia, even in India. Slavery is a better alternative than killing people in wars. Slavery isn't forbidden in Islam, but Islam encourages freeing slaves. And you are incoherent you talk first about slavery as it was something uniquely bad about Islam, and then switched to attacking women. Slavery has nothing to do with women being honored or not. A slave is a slave whether it be a man or a woman. And indeed Islam did honor women many verses in Quran and many chapters in Hadeeth of the Prophet DID honor women. Then a hindu like you comes a talks about how bad is Islam how they have slaves how they treat women... Go throw your poison somewhere else.

The question’s premise was incorrect, and this is a complete strawman argument concerning the West’s perception of equality between men and women. The world recognizes the inherent biologically related physical differences between men and women. Also, it is recognized there are varying capacities for achievement in every possible category in both men and women, and those capacities overlap. The subjugation of women through patriarchal domination has existed across cultures throughout the world since time immemorial. Sure, the West still struggles with getting it right, but that doesn’t mean its aspirations are wrong. Rather than “Do you believe men and women are equal,” the interviewer should have asked, “Do you believe men and women are equally entitled to fundamental human rights and freedoms,” or something along those lines. That is the aspirational goal of the West (not the strawman presented in the video). How do I know this? Because it is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The preamble includes: “Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world....” “Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom....” Article 1 “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” Article 2 “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, .......” Article 26 “1. Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available, and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.” I recommend everyone review the entire Universal Declaration of Human Rights. If there are fundamental flaws, I am interested in hearing what they are and why. Sure, the West has more to do to meet the intent of the aspirational declaration, but it is progressing toward it. The concept that men inherently should have authority over women is morally bankrupt and is in direct conflict with the declaration. It is much more advanced than many of the Islamic cultures. For example, in Afghanistan where girls are no longer allowed to advance beyond grade 6 in education. The recent protests in Iran demonstrate civilian discontent due to the subjugation of women. Many other examples illustrate that the West has made much further progress than most Islamic cultures.

@celeritasc9207 The West can not even agree on what a woman is at this point. There really is nothing to argue. Political leaders in the US wouldn't be able to give you a straight "no" if you asked one of them if a man can get pregnant. The correct question is, "Do men and women have equal capacity in general to perform well at every potential role in society?" The answer is no. In general, women are never going to have the capacity to be better soldiers than men. The male's potential is greater in that role, and the only semi-realistic way that women take over dominance in that role is if you socially engineer weak effeminate men and strong masculine women. It would take decades of intentionally pursuing a society where women would be generally more capable soldiers than men. But there is no logical or practical reason to pursue that outcome.

@@ricardoaraoz717 I agree there are some areas where the West is too preachy and are hypocrites. Especially the Americans (I am Canadian). The current conflict in Gaza is a prime example. I fully support the Palestinians. The Western Governments and MSM have shown their morals are in the gutter concerning this conflict. Yes, I agree that this is an indication and the hypocrisy extends beyond this conflict. However, that doesn’t mean those values in the Universal Human Rights are not worth pursuing. The West has made progress. Women now have the right to vote, to have their bank accounts and manage their financial affairs, equal employment opportunity, equal pay, prohibition of sex discrimination in educational programs, legal protection against gender-based discrimination in court decisions and legislative action. There has been a setback in reproductive rights in the US with the overturn of Roe v Wade, but I admit there are struggles. It is important to admit our failings and that it is still a struggle. The fact that some worthwhile goals have not been achieved does not make one a hypocrite. Admitting that it is a struggle and we are not there yet serves to motivate us to work harder to achieve further progress. Life is not black and white, there are no easy answers. We all have to work to achieve progress. Women deserve to be treated as equals and to have equal opportunity everywhere. The fact that it is part of the UN Charter makes it a universal goal, not just the West. Objectively, the West is more advanced concerning women’s rights.

He had a very incoherent understanding of equality. Equality is not of strength but of being allowed to do what one is capable of doing. Men have to maintain their status by force. It is not natural even by his own argument that he sees that people should do what they can do. But by force they maintain a false status where a son who is stupid goes to university but a woman who is smart is not allowed. This is wrong. To by force. Create your own status and force another person down and not allow them the full capacity of what they are capable...that means half of society are not allowed contribute freely. Thats not good. Sure the big man lifts rocks the smart man does the accounts but the women can also do counts even if they cannot lift the rock. Also women are the ones who keep these men safe when they are small boys. Respect for that should be aprt of their understanding. Sadly for this man he lacks that understanding and has a. Very wrong concept of what equality means.

Gender equality does not imply that every individual is identical or possesses the same abilities, but rather it asserts that all individuals, regardless of their gender, should have equal rights, opportunities, and treatment under the law. 2) Misunderstanding of Equality: The argument equates equality with sameness, which is a common misunderstanding. Gender equality acknowledges that men and women may have different strengths and capabilities, but it asserts that these differences should not lead to unequal treatment or opportunities. Equality is about fairness and ensuring that individuals are not discriminated against based on their gender. 3) Selective Comparison: The argument compares gender equality to physical attributes and skills (like having arms and legs), which oversimplifies the issue. Gender equality encompasses social, economic, political, and cultural aspects that go beyond mere physical attributes.

@@celeritasc9207The flaw in your aspirations is this, who gets to decide what fundamental human rights and freedoms are? Your government? People whom you don't even really get to choose even though you get a vote that is supposed to be counted and based off of your blind faith in a government that is horribly corrupted with absolutely no proof that your vote actually is? Most people I know don't see eye to eye with Trump or Biden, not even close. Even if every vote was counted and every law was individually voted on by every citizen. Then by your own definition of human rights and equality the minority would be oppressed. Without the rules of Allah we are left with ever changing human perception that is so wildly different from generation to generation that finding a common ground is laughable. Yet about a a quarter of the world agrees on Allahs rules. Yes in some Muslim countries, like every single country in the world, there are laws that are unfair to women. Just like there are unfair laws for humans regardless or sex or religion in every country. Islam is not a country. Islam is a religion. If we held Christianity responsible for whatever countries proclaim Christianity as their religion then Christianity would have to answer for Nazi Germany and millions upon millions of deaths throughout history. Hindus would have to answer for the alarmingly high amounts of rape in India. So you mentioning Muslim majority countries in regards to women whom live there and their situation doesn't say anything about Islam. Actually if you look at the condition women were in in those countries before Islam it was much worse. Yet in America you have more prisoners than any other country in the world by a long shot and yet it's "the home of the free". Explain that one. Most prisons in America are privately owned for profit. I wonder how that came to be. America is number one in human trafficking. What happened to all that human decency. The West espouses supposed values with broad definitions that crumble whenever there are attempts to consistently put them into practice. Do you think the majority of Americans approve of the military budget? Or funding Israels slaughter of Palestinians? Or having military bases all over the world that are payed for by tax payers dollars while their life savings lose more and more value because the government keeps printing money making the dollar worth less and less. Is that what you voted for? I'm betting not.

They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” Article 2 “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood......” Article 26 “1.

@@mogamatnordien1714 As an ex-Muslim, I have a few questions for Muslims👇👇👇 Based on what MUSLIM HISTORIANS have written down the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), had sex with Safiyya just a few days after her whole family (husband, father, brother, Uncle) got killed fighting with the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) himself!!! Two interesting fact: 1) She was famous as a very beautiful woman and was 40 years younger than the prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). 2) The prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), tortured Safiyya's husband to death in order to find hidden treasure!!! Yes, the most perfect human who ever lived, tortured someone to find his gold. 17 years old, Saffiya didn't even have the opportunity to mourn for her father or her husband. Also, Quran says: "And all married women (are forbidden unto you), excepting your slave-women..." Chapter 4, Verse 24 ✍Male Muslims can have sex with their slave girls even if they are married. "and who guard their private parts, except with their spouses and whomever their right hands may control (slaves), since then they are free from blame." Chapter 23, Verse 5, 6 "and those who guard their private parts, apart from their spouses and their slave women, for then they are not blameworthy" Chapter 70, Verse 29, 30 ✍Male Muslims can satisfy their sexual desire either by having sex with their wives, or with their slave girls. "O Prophet! Indeed We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand owns (slave girls), of those whom Allah gave you as spoils of war, and ..." Chapter 33, Verse 55 ✍Allah tell the prophet Mohammad that he can have sex with his slave girls which he captured in war. 🤔Muslims makes extremely extraordinary claims that the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), is the greatest man who ever lived and his way of living should be the example for the rest of humanity in every place and in every time!!! But what is their extremely extraordinary evidence for their claim?! 🤔I wonder how anyone could be a Muslim after reading those verses from Quran?! Ibn ‘Umar [al-Waqidi] - Kathir b. Zayd - al-Walid b. Rabah - Abu Hurayrah: While the Prophet was lying with Safiyah Abu Ayyub stayed the night at his door. When he saw the Prophet in the morning he said "God is the Greatest." He had a sword with him; he said to the Prophet, "O Messenger of God, 👉this young woman had just been married, and you killed her father, her brother and her husband, so I did not trust her (not to harm) you👈." The Prophet laughed and said "Good". The History of Al-Tabari, State University of New York Press, vol.39 translated by Ella Landau-Tasseron, p.185 The oldest extant biography of Muhammad is called the "Sirat Rasulallah" - "Life of the Prophet of Allah". This book was written by Ibn Ishaq, a devout Muslim scholar, and later revised by Ibn Hisham. It was written before any of the major works of Hadith. It is considered the most authentic biography of Muhammad. It was translated into English by A. Guillaume as "The Life of Muhammad", page 515 reads: "Kinana b. al-Rabi', who had the custody of the treasure of the B. al-Nadir, was brought to the apostle who asked him about it. He denied that he knew where it was. A Jew came (Tabari says "was brought") to the apostle and said that he had seen Kinana going round a certain ruin every morning early. When the apostle said to Kinana, 'Do you know that if we find you have it I shall kill you?' he said Yes. The apostle gave orders that the ruin was to be excavated and some of the treasure was found. When he asked him about the rest he refused to produce it,👉 so the apostle gave ordrs to al-Zubayr b. al-'Awwam, 'Torture him until you extract what he has,'👈 so he kindled a fire with flint and steel on his chest until he was nearly dead. Then the apostle delivered him to Muhammad b. Maslama and he struck off his head in revenge for his brother Mahmud." "Safiya narrated. I hated Allah’s Apostle more than anyone in the world, because he had killed my husband, my father and my brother. But he kept on saying, “Your father incited the Arabs to unite against me and he did this and that…” until all hatred was gone away from me." Al-Bayhaqi, Dala’il an-Nubuwwah, vol. 4, p. 230 There was none more hateful to me then Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) as he killed my father and husband. [But] the Prophet (pbuh) explained, ‘O Safiya your father instigated the Arabs against me and did so and so…’ He kept on explaining until that feeling (of hatred) vanished from me.’ Tabarani Kabeer, Hadith 19668. ✍Here Saffiya saying she hated the prophet at first, because he slaughtered her whole family. So when he had sex with her, she hated him, that’s just called rape. Two things we should keep in mind are that: 1) she was surrounded by those who took her as slave and for the rest of her life, she had to live among those who butchered her whole family. 2) All of this written by Muslims, so of course she would claim, or Muslim scholar would add, that she didn't hate him anymore.

For the beginning, I am female. From Europe. My opinion about this topic; Men build houses, women make homes. That's the reality and can be used in absolutely any example as a definition of male and female meaning in this world. Men are creators, women are not, men are technical beings, women are not, men are focused beings, women are not, men are emotionally simple and basic beings, women are not, men are initiators, women are not, men have active energy, women don't..If from any reason this world gets devastated and everything will have to start again from zero..men will be the ones who will build houses, hospitals, roads, infrastructure..not women. Women can pretend being equal to men when the society is already built, functional, organised, wealthy..but to make society to become like that can only..men.

I am a Chinese, educated and worked in China, now am living and working in Australia as a professional in engineering field. I saw and watched the huge differences between the quantity, regards and status of women in this field between China and Australia. I always think putting more women in a position of CEO does't mean more equality at alk (boardroom is a power play house). The true equality is to embrace the fact that women are divers in their capacity and interest, and to let women born with capability to be engineers feel no social and cultural restrictiond to persue their career and life in this field. In the other hand, female engineers dont need to feel too pride of themselves too. In China, there are millions girls graduated with degree in science and engineering every year. There are millions of women working in engineering field as men. While doing hard work, they also look after their families. I am one of them. We dont feel any inferiority or any superiority towards men in this field, and we contribute in the best of our capability, and was treated by companies and our male peers equally.

Agree, what was presented here was a strawman of what the West believes. Everyone understands the biological differences between men and women. Everyone knows that individuals excel in some capabilities but are different in others. What the West pursues is for men and women to be equally entitled to fundamental rights and freedoms. The premise of the question "Do you believe men and women are equal" was incorrect.

@celeritasc9207 no , that is not the fact . I see it as just your opinion Otherwise, why would you have so much debate about gender identity, including transgenders, women and men equality, equality of races . Just like the "strawman" said westerners are more inclined to atheism and secularism rather than the law of Almighty God who created men and women not equal, blacks, whites, brown people equal, it the double standards, hypocrisy of the western man that created all this confusion. These are all things that exist in the west created by the west which is not the case many other places worldwide, mostly in muslim countries.

@@mustaphasouaadi5996 My comment is not just my opinion. There are obvious biological differences between men and women, and people excel in various niche areas. No one disputes that. It is the opportunity to enjoy equal fundamental rights and freedoms that equality is all about. Why is my comment not just my opinion? Because it is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The preamble includes: “Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world....” “Whereas the peoples of the United Nations have in the Charter reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and the equal rights of men and women and have determined to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom....” Article 1 “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” Article 2 “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood......” Article 26 “1. Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available, and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.” I agree that we have not achieved the goal. There is still too much discrimination between the sexes against various ethnic groups. There are innate psychological reasons that make it difficult to achieve. Nevertheless, it is a worthwhile goal to strive for. Transgenders have existed since ancient times, and there is evidence that they were more accepted then compared to now. The concept of transgender sexual identities was not created by the West. It has always been part of human nature. The fact that the West is slowly progressing to the state of once again accepting transgender rights is evidence that the West is more accepting of the pursuit of equal rights for all. Sure, double standards and hypocrisy exist in the West as well as it does in Islamic countries. It is part of human nature. Life is messy. The religious doctrine of almost all faiths contributes significantly to the lack of progress toward equal opportunity for all. The fact you stated, “God created women and men not equal.” is evidence of this. Generally, women enjoy more fundamental human rights in the West than in Islamic countries. The goal should be to grant women equal rights to men. We should strive to treat all humans equally. My original comment indicated the West is in pursuit of this, not that it was achieved. Clearly, the West is further advanced in this than Islamic countries.

I am a Black woman experienced and educated in my field who had the good sense to see and hire a superior intellect. Miss me with the equality of women talk. Sure, I was her “boss” but she was superior to me in many things - just not equal to me in the running of that department. I could not have done that effectively without her! That was the real equality. Support, solidarity, collaboration. Freedom to be ourselves, to achieve and work to our capacities is what marginalized people everywhere want. We have certain inalienable rights as human beings.Define those and respect those. Praise be to Allah. I did not create myself.

Sadly quite a number of Muslim men (some who aren’t even fully practicing Muslims) in Egypt where I am from are wrongly taught via culture that their authority equals their superiority. Thus they believe this gives them the right to mistreat their wives and threaten them with divorce at the sign of any minor infraction like forgetting to iron his shirt or cooking a meal he didn’t enjoy or failing to be at his beck and call… Although the Prophet said the best of men are those who are the best to their wives. ♥️ I pray one day the brother can address such men.

They come from different backgrounds and while being a Muslim can nonchalantly assert those uncontested values, JP has more diverse audience to feed and please. This guy made many errors and committed many fallacies, for example👇👇👇: 1) Straw Man Fallacy: The response appears to mischaracterize the concept of gender equality by creating a distorted version of it.

That is the aspiratory goal of the West (not the strawman presented in the video).

I am from a "Western" country and married since 40 years happily with a Palestinian who was injured heavily in West bank decades ago. Currently during this time we suffer a lot. We love our children, they have the best from 2 cultures, they have equal access to education, housing, marrying etc. And they respect each individual people of any culture, western, islamic, buddhist etc. Your explanation of cultursl concepts is brilliant. This good explanation of difference between authority and superiority became so clear to me after reading your post. Of course each concept/framework can be misused/simplified/shortened by polititians/media for their unethical or uneducated purpuses. But this does not mean, that the concept itself is bad or wrong. Everybody knows, thst Equality goes back to French revolution with the concept of liberté, fraternité and equalité. Of course it does not mean, that individuals are equal, it means, that all people should have equal rights to live their lives, be wealthy, educated, have a placd to live etc. This is also part of UN charta and not only "Western". I am sad that with all your brilliance you seem to deepen an artificial separation between western and "global south" people. This seems not peaceful to me. All people in the world should have equal chances for happy life.
