5000. This is the number of missiles Russia has fired at Ukraine in 2022 thus far. A flurry of approximately 15 missile strikes per day. We're happy if Rheinmetall can produce 35mm Gepard rounds in the next months. Skynex will not be available even to our army for some time. Glad to see our DIEHL DEFENSE Iris-T system works so well though. Much love and support from Germany! I wish we'd send tanks already!

Besides the AA systems highlighted here, increasing credit should be given to the Gepard radar directed gun system. This seems to be the most cost effective system for downing cheap drones - a few rounds for a 20K$ drone. Missiles are a losing cost tradeoff and this is one area where NATO has been caught flatfooted. The west needs an updated system with a longer range gun NOW! Also kudos to Norway 👏for producing Gepard rounds that the Swiss unfortunately won't export.

Very late arrival of air defense weapons and not enough in numbers but better than nothing. Glad someone is striking deep into Russia at their air assets to reduce the threat to Ukraine. Hope the allies intercept and destroy Iranian supplies of drones and ballistic missiles before Russia gets them delivered.

it takes months to train people how to operate and maintain them, add to that the negotiation time and planning for logistical support, those systems got to Ukraine pretty fast

@@MisterW0lfe Yep, supposedly 6 months for training on Patriot, for example, that’s understandable. And figuring out logistics of provisioning and repair/replacement takes time. But the political delay in the process is what I have a problem with. It’s not like we haven’t had since 2014 to run the scenarios and develop action plans.

@@gregsscubavids5128 even if they had those plans, they probably had to be put on hold while small arms and light ATGMs were sent to stabilize the front. and with Patriots being "approved" within the next few days, I guarantee that crews have been training all this time and are just about to complete it and be sent back home to time their arrival with the systems themselves.

Hope they can find something less costly to handle the cheap drones and other targets the Russians are flooding the airspace with to confuse air defenses and deplete the expensive western munitions stocks. Something better than cops shooting skyward with AKs and less costly than patriots and the like. CIWS are expensive and not practical in quantity. Gepards are few and ammo is problematic. Guess they’ll figure something out. They’re damned creative.

Ukraine is experiencing high losses due to Russian and Iranian loitering munitions. Possible solution: Ukrainians need to set up GLONASS jammers to interfere with low-flying munitions. Ukrainians also need to set up infrared laser dazzlers to blind cameras of incoming loitering munitions. 🇺🇲 💪 🇺🇦

ballistic missles are quite simple in theory to intercept because of their trajectory. Its the computing power that makes the difference and the ability of the SAM to damage the weapon. Cruise missiles are simpleler because they are a lot slower. Detection, firing solution calculating and fire.

There is a complete lack of understanding about how air defense systems target and engage missiles. NASAMS has an effective range of 30km, but the targeting radars can extend far beyond the air defense missiles range, and multiple sensors can be linked as well. So the reaction time a NASAMS crew has against a Kalibr missile is going to be greater than stated in this video.

Really? which western radar can detect the plasma field in which the "dagger" moves? , so slow down just before the target about 15 seconds before impact, it is shootable, count up to 15, you have exactly that much time to shoot down, good luck.

@@hartman12349 "the plasma field the 'daggers moves in..." you're joking right? The Kalibr isn't stealthy, it's just fast. Pretty much ANY Western radar system can see it. It's also not a good hypersonic weapon since it's not very controllable at hypersonic speeds and is essentially just an upgraded Iskander.

@@dovydasstasionis Yes, but that doesn't truly effect reaction time, that effects engagement range. Even if you can hit something 50km away, you still need to be able to react with enough speed to engage at that range.

I am donating an embarrassingly small amount but a large sum for my income level. Two things shape my thinking. Should Ukraine lose (they won't (Ukraine forever!)) I would be forever lost with the feeling that I did nothing to help. Most importantly, WHEN Ukraine wins, I will have a very small but personal share in our victory. I'll be able to say "WE did it!" Even though I can't be there in person.
