Loved hearing your thoughts on the Cobra mothership, O-ring Joes and Star Wars. Thank you my friend!

So many would be o ring buyers already have the vintage ones..... so maybe , maybe hasbro or super7 could do animation/toon accurate 3.75 inch line... maybe bump it to 4 inch, that would still probably fit in vintage vehicles... but its something different enough to get the vintage owners to collect and get the whole fan base in.

Ok, lets look at the orings. Hasbro has produced 16 figures to date. Of those 16 figures, the Stinger driver and officer both had bad knees. Duke had misaligned eyes, the Baroness had flesh painted in the glasses, Scarlett had a crossbow that was missing the handle. Cobra Commanders gloves were just paint instead of sculpt for a cartoon version. Thats 6 out of 16 figures with some kind of quality control issue or corner cut. Thats not even getting into the large amount of reuse in this first offering. Hasbro phoned in the oring line, while charging the same amount as a third party small kickstarter. As for the Haslab Skystriker, the only reason that was made was Hasbro had a license to the f-14, aquired for the Transformers line. This wasnt a dream project that could only see the light of day through crowdfunding, this was better make some extra money on the license Hasbro payed for. At every turn, and at every opportunity the oring line cheaped out and cut corners.

It feels overpriced, all lines because of the inflation the world has went through the last 7 years.... but I wont boycott and do some agenda that a portion of people are going on. why? because toy companies wont lower prices.... they only stop the lines.. or scale back in quality or size. And IMO I would rather buy what i can when i can for something i want to get made and then have to catch up the rest of my life (us that collect vintage toys know this well, we are still filling out our collections 35 years later) ..id rather that than not having the toys made at all.

Maybe everyone is doing what Im doing with the mothership, waiting until the end to get it since so many of us got the cats lair and other things lately that we needed more time to take another huge wallet hit. Now if it took money at the end like haslabs do.... i imagine we'd already have ordered..

Hasbro just announced O-ring ghostbusters going on sale in June. I think the crossover in compatibility helps both lines. The new figures are what I enjoy. Create new characters and some old ones. Sure you’ll get your Windmills but you might get the next Roadblock as well. I agree on the price as well. $40 for a two pack is a bit more than I want to spend. I’ve done it but it’s not ideal for me personally. $15 each or $30 for a set seems right to me.

Sadly, it does seem like Oring has failed. I got the Haslab Skystriker, i bought the transformer crossovers, and i got all the retro joes that hasbro did. I even did some army building with the cobra trooper/officer 2 pack. The transformer crossovers were EPIC! I do not understand why they didnt do better. I backed the Mothership on the first day, totally excited to have a huge display stand for a lot of my Cobra troopers, but it seems pretty clear it is not going to fund barring an amazing turnaround. If there is one big item i wish i could make get funded it was this one. But people just dont seem to like the oring all that much anymore. Or like you said, they are not willing to pay for them. I am not big on the classifieds. I think they are well done, but somehow they just don't connect for me. But i now lots of people who do. Primarily i like to army build and that really is not feasible with the classifieds. I expect ongoing the future of oring is going to be in those kickstarter -esque joe productions. Which is fine, but makes me really sad. Even worse, most of the comments i see on the mothership posts are mocking it for the price, and that upsets me. The price is the price, you dont like it, move on. But the same people cheering the struggle and failure of these things will be the first ones posting about how much they miss it in a couple years when it is gone completely. =\

Great video and great discussion to be had. I love oring and would buy more from Hasbro but they have got it wrong. I don’t want a transformer and won’t buy just for the figure. I will buy the individual figures I want and even army build but when they double pack them with something I won’t army build as much (cobra officer) it means I won’t back as much. So I kind of get your points but the real point is the marketing at Hasbro is getting it wrong and I don’t believe it is correct to buy a product that is wrong to prove to them that a part of that product (the oring) is correct. They need to get it right. The price is not really the issue

How do you think the G.I. Joe O-ring figures are going to do in 2024?

Problem with G.I. Joe O-Ring... personally, I'm sick of the same figures if different waves and not getting the cool ones or their Exclusives. I don't need 99 Versions of Snake Eyes. Nor do I want to see stores with nothing but Cobra Troopers. I want the cool characters. Re-make and update them! Not Cobra Commander or Storm Shadow for the 200th time combined. It's all I ever seen in stores. If G.I. Joes as at all!

I think the timing of this is terrible. So close to the holidays and Hasbro is hitting everyone with all the pre orders right now.

Hi, I really like this topic. I’ve bought alot of the Joe ReAction and all the new Hasbro retro o-ring stuff. I like them and I had high hopes. I’m sad that they aren’t a runaway success like classified. It made it easier to get out of collecting altogether this year.

you dont understand the scaling...they dont handfile out a single figure...you crank out millions and that brings down the price...the problem is hasbro is not distributing enough figures because they somehow dont want to..they have chosen to shrink their sales...hence prices per figure must go up...why? because they started focusing on middle aged men collecting and not the millions upon millions of kids being born everyday on the planet....but for that to work they would have to make a cartoon again..for some reason disney doesnt want that...i dont know how they would push gi joe so they still pass the current climate ..they would have to tweak the terrorist part to something more like jedi vs sith...its the same problem with star wars..to much focus on collectors

Love the channel. Been watching since your old channel. The Skystriker Haslab was the wrong choice for a vehicle. The Skystriker has been beat to death. Fans of ARAH 82-94 Joe, like yourself, love the figures. The vehicles I have take up a lot of real estate. The way O-Rings have been offered makes you buy something a fan might not want. You have to buy a Megatron transforming hiss tank, to get a baroness for instance. As far as cost, Hasbro owns 100% of G.I.Joe, so they have no licensing to pay. If they would have made figures like Pythona and reissued ARAH hit figures and army builders at retail, not crowd funs, bundled with Transformers, 2 packs they would have sold. With them owning GIJoe outright they could not come in cheaper then Star Wars Vintage and Retro, the Marvel Legends 5poa for 10 bucks on superior card backs? Black Major sells figures out of a garage for cheaper. Gen X and the first batch of Millennials are the target for all toys practically in the action figure area. If people want nostalgia, why not release what people want, for a 12-14 dollar price point, using similar plastic or construction parts, or better, not worse. Why make crap card backs, with multi language file cards with 3 lines. These would sell, I know they would, I would buy every one and multiples if you can come in cheaper then buying the original vintage. This is my thoughts and I love Joe, just like you. I remember when you got your scarlet recard from Breetz on a Beggars Canyon card back. You got me to recard a lot of figs. You know in your heart of hearts, that the crowd fund, online only, and way they have been presented are the reason for the o-rings failure. When super 7 drops their crap ultimates in Walmart now, they are flying off the shelves. Why, the common man, the regular joe, with 2 kids, mortgage and stuff ain’t cruising websites and watching GIJoe KZfaq channels in their spare time , knows what Haslab is. But they remember GIJoe. Every boy raised in the timeframe of ARAH, had GIJoe, loved GIJoe. You get it to the public in stores for a reasonable price cheaper then black major lol, they will fly. You can not tell me that a vintage looking, feeling, carded, B.A.T.S. Cobra Trooper, Firefly, priced at 12-16 bucks, and you don’t have to buy a transforming Check Point Alpha, Sound Wave that looks like garbage to get Mutt, lol. They would be ripped off the pegs like lighting. You wouldn’t be able to keep up with the demand. Come on my friend, you know this is true. P.S. super 7’s Cobra Mothership, has less functions then the Mobil Command Center from the 80’s. Its design is less sculpted then Castle Greyskull from He-Man. Honestly, for 500 bucks, the price of the first Haslab, the sail barge, you better come hard, not soft like they did. It’s an oversized Salad Bowl. It’s like a Super Bowl Snack Tray. The o-rings they made are original design and hardly even hit a nostalgia cord. It’s a 500 dollar under scaled Tupperware bowl. I would love a cobra mothership, not the one that was presented for 500 bucks.

My thoughts on the recent Oring failure is simple selection of figures sucked ass. What I mean that is simple those characters and vechiles where all released by Walmart not that long ago. If wanted a Hiss tank could have gotten 1 Blue and One Black of the walmart ones and a Baroness for price of the transformer Same with the Awe Striker. GI Joe has tons of vechiles they couldn't find 2 vechiles that where not recently released at retail. Same with the 2 packs all 6 figures recently sold in scale at walmart with the cobra Officers and troopers still able to get with ease to this day the couldn't do a Viper and Televiper 2 pack or some other army bulder. The Stinger the only thing not part of the Walmart Line Sold Out due to was something not made in over a decade.
