For Jumanji, the 2017 movie wasn’t a remake. It actually is considered a sequel, considering it acknowledges events from the original movie

@@antoniomarin9061 that is false, technically and realistically it's not a remake. Like LoneWolf said, it even has references to the original. Alan Parrish is Robin Williams' character in the original, and his name is referenced in the 2019 Jumanji. Nora in the 2019 movie is also the same Nora from the original. She was the aunt of the kids. The end of the 2019 movie also goes back to the original Jumanji rules when the ostriches come out of the game and into the street, instead of the characters going into the game. So yes, it's 100% a sequel and not a remake.

I prefer the 1976 Barbra Streisand/Kris Kristofferson version. The music seems to be more female empowerment than the other 2 remakes. I haven't seen the 1937 version.

It's obliquely referenced in the movie, too. Seaplane name drops Robin Williams character when they meet him. Definitely a sequel, not a remake.

To be fair jumanji was a sequel. Hense the fact that they found the house of Allan Parrish, and the game started as a game board even in the sequel but when the kid would only play videogames it turned itself into one as a thirst trap

I was surprised about The Grinch part. I'd have to go with the original only because it was a family tradition when I was a kid to watch it along with The Christmas Story as we opened presents and spent time together for the day. The original just hits me harder.

Jumanji wasn't a remake, it's a stand alone sequal and its actually called Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, it is the 3rd film in the series.

For those who did not know, "A Star is Born" first came out in 1937. The 1954 version was a remake with Judy Garland. Then, in 1974, they released another remake, this time with Barbra Streisand. The final remake was in 2018 with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. So, the 1954 version is not an original movie. It is a remake.

JUMANJI should NOT be on this list as it was a continuation of the first one even having the pieces from the board game and the treehouse that the first boy built. They reference him by name a few times in the 2nd one. They even clarify that the magic of the game evolves the game as time goes by to lure in modern players.

Choosing the 1984 Dune because it "inspired Star Wars" is insane. All 3 of the original Star Wars movies came out before it. Yes, the novel inspired the movies, but not the movie.

jumanji 2017 was a direct sequel of the 95 jumanji and mean girls isn't a direct remake of the sequel but rather an adaptation of the broadway music version of the 04 story (made by tina fey) so that's why a lot of things are different

Great video folks with one small nitpick... Jumaji (2017) is not a remake, it's a stand-alone sequel in the Jumanji series. We see at the beginning Alex's father finding the Jumanji boardgame and giving it to him, when he's not interested in a boardgame it transforms itself into a video game to entice him into playing.

A Star is Born was originally released in the 30's, not the 50's, despite how good Judy was in it (robbed of an Oscar). Also, Barbra Streisand was in the 70's version of the movie (yes, they made this movie 4 times).

Original Parent Trap is BEST overall!! Can't go wrong with Haley Mills who was a Disney classic actor for so MANY Disney movies...pahleeze! Her father was even in a Disney movie...The Swiss Family Robinson. Go back and watch the classics. OH, and big props to the beautiful ginger Maureen O'Hara and handsome Brian Keith. OG Parent Trap all the way every day!!

@@islandgreenstrong I'm not real big into John Wayne's movies. I had to watch The Searchers in two different classes in college. Personally, once was enough. I didn't really enjoy the movie, but I do really like The Quiet Man, though. Miracle on 34th Street... that could be another original and remake one the reactors could react to as well! For me, I've seen the remake, but I have not seen the original (but I want to!).

@@GeminiWolfstarGaming I'm hit or miss with John Wayne movies, but I did think he was a great actor. I still remember the day he passed away, how I heard and where I was...I cried. My second favorite Duke movie, after McClintock! is The Cowboys. Spoiler alert if you watch it...two scenes made me cry HARD. I'm old, so I'm very partial to the OG movies. But, I did enjoy the remake of Miracle on 34th Street. My thing about most remakes is...why mess with a good thing, most end up trash.

@@islandgreenstrong He was a good actor. I do agree with that. I just don't care for his westerns. I liked him in The Quiet Man and in The Longest Day, as well as his guest appearance on I Love Lucy. The thing with remakes is they're made for two reasons: 1) To update it for newer audiences, a.k.a. younger generations. 2) To get the younger generations potentially interested in seeing the original. So it's kind of a 50/50 thing. If the remake is a win for the younger generation that's a good thing, and if it gets them interested in seeing the original, that's even better. At least, speaking as a movie buff and having an opinion of his own, that's how I see it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Jumanji is a sequel not a remake. The first movie still happened, and the game "transformed" to become a video game in the beginning of the movie.

I figured The Parent Trap was going to be like that. The bias is clear there. How could it not be? Although, I grew up watching the Lindsay Lohan version, I enjoy the original with Hayley Mills.

The Illumination version of The Grinch is far different. I think the title character's backstory in that one is why they decided to include the Jim Carrey version. As for Jumanji, some people are actually labeling WTTJ as a remake despite the Alan Parrish reference.

Odd that they did not try to match up scene in the movies when it was possible. My Charlie's Anges is the original Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett and always iconic John Forsythe as Charlie but he was also voicing Charlie in the 2000 and 2003 movie

So happy that majority chose the Judy version of A Star Is Born. She gave one of the greatest performances ever captured on film, and the film itself is one of the best movie musicals of all time.

Jumanji with Robin Williams is the original. Ones with Rock and Jack Black are the sequel versions as original is a board game while versions are gaming console games.

I just remembered something from the Jumanji movies. There's proof the newer ones are sequels, and not remakes. The third movie, Jumanji: The Next Level, toward the end of the movie, there's an appearance from Bebe Neuwirth as Aunt Nora. I now remember when I first watched it, I was blown away that Nora was back. I'm just waiting for a fourth movie with Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce to come back as Judy and Peter. At this point, that's what I'm now expecting if they were to make a fourth movie.

In the second one, Nick Jonas’s character stayed in the house or whatever it is that Robin Williams character built, and said this was built by Alan Parrish, and I don’t know who that is.

@@eddmario I've only just watched the newer movies a couple of years ago now, so I did not know that. I mean, I am a movie buff, but I've been behind on newer movies for the past... I want to say about 10 years now. And it also doesn't help that I decided to start a gaming channel almost 4 years ago.

How do you NOT reference the TV series, Charlie's Angels which the movies are based? Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, Jacklyn Smith > than any of the actresses in these movies. If those boys were teens in the 70s, their walls would be covered with posters of Farrah.

Everyone in the comments is right, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle isn't a remake, it's a standalone sequel. Seriously it's like saying Marry Poppins Returns is a remake to the 1964 movie Marry Poppins when it's clearly not. I would have used both the 1961 and the 1996 101 Dalmatian movies for that instead.

Freaky Friday has actually been made four times now. There's the 70s version, a Disney Channel version from the 90s, the 2003 version, and then Another Disney Channel version from 2018.

THE Movie (A Star is Born) was remade several times over Judy Garland is not the original version in the fifties there was a version from the 30s as well as one in the seventies done by Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson before the Bradley Cooper Lady Gaga version, it has been remade four times.

@@buatbluestack9714 It's actually a real sequel :) The actress who played the aunt in the first one is the woman who owns the café, still called Nora. Alan's name was carved in the tree house where Alex lived in the 2nd film, and the game found at the beginning was the one the kids tossed in the water at the end of the original :)

i still prefer the jonnhy depp one personally, the fact that charlie gets in trouble in the OG one with the fizzy drink, and roahl dahl not liking it, i like the gene wylder version but i like the johnny depp one for being more matched with the book.

Actually both "The Parent Trap" Films are remakes. In 1950 a Film with the Name "Das doppelte Lottchen" (Lisa and Lottie for you Americans) was released in Germany and for "The Parent Trap" only the Setting was changed to USA instead of Germany.

the 2017 Jumanji was not technically a remake. They showed the board game. When the kid was not interested in the board game. The game changed itself to a game cartridge.

How can Dune, a 1984 movie be the inspiration for Star Wars, a 1977 movie. Even Return of the Jedi came our before Dune in 1983. One of the most influential shows for Star Wars was Star Trek. George Lucas said so.
