Samsung made apps offer so much to the Samsung Experience. But are they really bloatware?
I am here to make a case for Samsung apps and how they are crucial to the Samsung experience.
SAMMOBILE.COM is a news and community website dedicated to Samsung Mobile devices. We keep a close eye on everything that Samsung does and update you about it before other news sources even know what’s happening. New firmware is always found here first, just like updates, reviews, and much more.

Agree, but with 2 qualifications: 1. Make it easy for people to delete any unwanted apps, fast and permanently. 2. I think that McAfee in their laptops (the Book4 series) is bloatware. Not only that, there are annoying pop-ups for a "free trial," and when you delete it you have to go through a bunch of questions such as "Are you really really really sure?"

@@HighTide1715 Agree. When they are disabled but not removed, they sometimes have pop-up reminders for an update. It's a hassle enough to delete, and I'd like them gone forever.

If I am not mistaken, Microsoft is responsible for this McAfee thing, as it is present on all Windows laptops, not just Samsung.

You would want to delete One UI from your Samsung phone and install Pixel OS or iOS, don't you?
@woofinu
@woofinu 18 күн бұрын
@@CaptainFahim I think that's because McAfee pays computer manufacturers to be pre-loaded on PCs. Otherwise few would go out of their way to download it. I think even if some people want McAfee, I would find it tolerable if it lies dormant, without pop-ups and the annoying steps it takes to delete it.

Samsung apps are of course no bloatware. I buy a Samsung to use OneUI and Samsung apps. I prefer gallery, notes, music, browser, health etc. over their Google counterparts. I'm using MS Office 365 on my laptop, thus have 1 TB of Onedrive, so I'm really glad of gallery sync into Onedrive. I can't imagine and don't want a smartphone without Goodlock anymore. The software is a big part of the smartphone experience. Without you could buy a cheaper China Phone using the same SoC etc. hardware.

The way I see it, if Samsung Apps are bloatware, then on the iPhone, all the Apple apps like Apple Notes, Apple Health, Safari, Apple Maps, Music, and more are bloatware. You can't uninstall the stock Apple apps. Some people use them and don't need to install a second version of that app, but some people don't use them. Many people I know don't like Apple Maps, so they install Google Maps. Thus, they now have two GPS apps installed on their phone.

After transferring from iPhone to S24 plus this year, and to be honest struggling to adjust not been completely in the Apple blended ecosystem, I found this video informative and thought provoking. Made me look at my phone different and realised I just need to learn more about it. I use Samsung Gallery which has lots of editing functions for both photos and video, without having to download thirdparty apps that have to be paid for and have adds! The music player also has a few features like an equaliser. Not every android phone has an equaliser, so you have to download a third party version. The problem with third party apps is you don't know how safe they are, plus pop up ad's can appear! My only issue is that some Samsung apps/functions are limited to the top tier 'S' series, especially the Ultra versions. That is why I am enjoying my S23 Ultra.

Windows also comes with Phone link where you can use your phone from your laptop as well. I do use Google Maps but if you use Samsung's Calendar for instance it is the best out there......I also use the email app and the messaging app in some instances. Its always got me why they have their own version of apps that google provide and many of which work better. I get some of their own apps but i draw the line at messages apps, calenders, file browsers, phone apps, Clock and calculater apps. For them the google version is good and suits most people. Too many duplicate apps will make for a poor user experience.

I have a S23 and many of the apps mentioned in this video have been my daily driver like the Notes app, Samsung internet, Gallery app, Good lock, Gaming hub and many more. So they are no way a bloatware.

Bloatware in my eyes, are Preinstalled which Cannot be removed! I don't care what they think I should have, if I can't remove it, it's wasting space and I don't want it.

I agree and don't think Samsung apps are bloatware, rather superior, compared to, for example, Samsung contacts and the dialer. They're more accessible and easier to edit by being separated from each other. This helps eliminate accidental modifications to contact information through the dialer, as can easily happen with Google dialer.

YES!! It's definitely bloatware and redundant. Its my one major issue which drove me from my SGS23U to my Pixel8Pro (well that and the isolating Samsung Health). Samsung you either use Google apps or just your own apps. Especially the Galaxy Store. It should be improved so the Play Store isn't needed. I'm not saying get rid of Samsung apps. The opposite. Samsung just make your superior app the default so you needn't have to keep Google's equivalents. Also, get rid of the pop up ads!!!

Samsung's apps are definitely not more optimized. Let's take monoply go for example, the Samsung version is buggy and missing features compared to the Google play's version. So their apps being more optimized is just not true. A lot of them are more buggy.

I agree with you, Daniel. Ultimately Samsung don't want to be the same as any other Android equipped device and their customers want the Samsung experience. But as with all these things, the beauty of owning a Samsung device is choice. You can own a Galaxy and use all Google apps and services, or you can use the Samsung ones. Your choice.

What's the point of buying samsung or any brand if you don't want a differet software experience. If everything had to be stock android then it is all just one phone with different harware specs from different companies. Every brand should have something unique to offer and samsung is doing a good job at that.

For me the real bloatware is all Google forced app ecosystem, The other day I wanted to save in Samsung Pass my sign in sessions, Google Avery time tried to force me to use their password save method, Hope one day Samsung can deliver an OS with their own mail service client, cloud service and store no related to Google and Microsoft

Samsung's Gallery is the one absolutely useless to me app. It lacks major functionality like excluding folders for example. I don't use more than 3 or 4 samsung made apps and prefer to not be locked in their ecosystem. Your video was informative and i agree with most of it.

What I like about Samsung is that is sort of a combination of Pure Android and Apple. So it has it's own ecosystem , BUT YOU ARE ALLOWED to pick and choose what you want from that ecosystem or from Google's ecosystem, in essence, creating the best experience FOR YOU!

That would be like saying are OnePlus apps on a OnePlus phone bloatware? Or is Apple apps on an iPhone bloatware? Google apps on a pixel phone bloatware? No, these are apps that are designed to take advantage of the phone. I don't believe Samsung apps is bloatware, they are apps that are designed to work the best with the phone. I consider bloatware any aftermarket app that is not designed specifically for that phone and are already pre-installed, that to me is bloatware. You are going to get the most out of your phone when you use the apps that are designed to take advantage of what your phone is fully capable of. I have the Fold 5 and there are a lot of apps out there that just cannot take advantage of what this phone can do, if it wasn't for Samsung apps I wouldn't even have this phone.
