Are the Brooklyn Nets sticking with Ben Simmons next season?

Though Ben Simmons wasn’t able to complete this season, needing back surgery that cut his year short, it appears the Nets aren’t going to seek a buyout leading into next year.
This isn’t all that surprising considering Simmons’ current value (very low) and the timeline going into next season. Where does this situation leave the team and is there any chance he has an impact on next year’s results?

Great song choice, sadness is part of being a nets fan, lv'e been one for over 45 years and l don't know why, I guess we just accept being letdown time after time,we believe in something knowing that most likely it won't come to be, l fell for the Ben Simmons hype this season and now lm expecting to fall for it again next season, just part of being a nets fan .

Hey bro, I'm glad you're able to miss a game, I still haven't missed a game in two years,l don't want to miss a second of Cam Thomas, When he was injured l thought l could miss a game but no , I still watched and it was hard, l hope they don't trade Cam , Noah Clowney is looking to be a good piece of the puzzle, the Big fan Breezy podcast is good listen, Great intro song and analysis and good humor, gotta laugh when your a nets fan.

@@stevesea3701 Imagine this, and it might upset you more, Cam Thomas, Nick Claxton, Noah Clowney, AND.... Jalen Green . Whatever Sean's plan is, I seriously hope it works. I can see he's put all his eggs in one basket with Ben Simmons and Bridges, but I still can't figure out his plan. He's obviously a very intelligent person, and probably one of very few people who was capable of pulling the Nets from the dirt when he was hired, and this is the only real reason I am giving him such a very long noose. To me the biggest mistake all this years, is him giving JV a long term contract (tis was a head scratcher, and only reason I think why he did this was for stability); where Sean is responsible for, everything else that happen wrong with the super team and trading for Ben is circumstantial and a huge hand from ownership in decision making.

The Nets should make absolutely 0 plans of team building with Ben in mind.. He should be an afterthought of productivity if healthy.. Trade him this summer for Ice Trae 🧊

This year’s team was built around Ben. When Ben went down we still needed a good pass first point guard to take advantage of the roster Marks built. When Spence got mad at JV and spit the bit, the team was cooked. We need a point guard. Schroder is key because everyone with an ounce of common sense knows Ben will get hurt again. Can we trade Mikal and Cam J for Ja?

The nets I feel are keeping him on the roster because they have no choice since he has no real value besides the fact that he has an expiring contract. I'm sure the nets have no plans to actually use him. And I'm even more sure ben rather sit and heal that play anyway

Ben Simmons role is to occupy outgoing salary for another year. The biggest roster question is Claxton. Star hunting will wait until 2025. Next year is primarily more of the same. Perhaps I’m being overly pessimistic, but that’s how I see it. The Western conference playoffs this year is going to be a hoot.

Why are we even discussing a buyout at this point? He is a sunk cost that you simply pay to go home. Doug is worried about whether he’ll take a discount. We’re beyond that At this point. Now it’s Just a question of what’s the value of his roster spot and I’d say I’d rather have another player in his roster spot playing on the minimum with Ben Simmons waived and paid his full salary but off the roster. But no we already have Brian Lewis spins on Ben Simmons so imagine how it’s gonna go this summer. He is a massive distraction from what the nets need to really do. Besides Sean Marks needing to be held accountable and needing to be gone Simmons is the last dark spot in the era that was the superstar era and it needs to be cut away. It is not the job of the Brooklyn Nets to help Bernie Lee revive Ben Simmons failed career and that’s seems to be the entire goal this year and now the next. It must be incredibly frustrating to Nick Claxton, which you could definitely read into in his comments and it definitely was a frustration when it came to Spencer did he why are the nets hinging their future to a guy that bailed on the Sixers? It makes no sense. And this is what I talked about with the frustration of being a nets fan that instead of having a media guy in Brian Lewis, who’s writing articles holding Sean Mark accountable and to the fire on his poor management of this team, we get feel good articles that do the opposite. When Kyrie Irving was doing all of his wacky stuff, the media put so much pressure on the organization if they got rid of him. What about Sean? Nobody cares about Ben Simmons. They care about the fact that they have incompetent GM that still has a job and an organization that has not answered to why.

Best thing to do is to see through the contract be good to him and hope he resigns for under 10mil a year, then suddenly you have an asset.

You guys (Locked on Nets) laughed at me preseason when I said Ben Simmons would help give the Rockets a top 10 pick in this draft. Hell, he will probably help give the Rockets a top 5 pick next year.

Accept? That’s all he is good for and he’s not even elite at it anymore to compensate for his lack of offense. If he doesn’t accept, there’s a nice comfy seat in the bench.

This is the game plan: resign clax, develop this year again and wait until Ben’s money is off the books, Dmitch doesn’t extend with Cleveland as long as we don’t make the same mistake the knicks did with Melo (trading assets for a player right before he hits free agency), trade cam Johnson to clear cap space for dmitch and sign him. Then we’ll have a lineup of DMitch, Cam T, Bridges, Clowney, and Clax all with another year of development under their belt. I am so confident DMitch will sign with us we should not trade for him, he would love to play with mikal in Bk.

Us fans dislike Ben Simmons, I personally have hated him and thought he was over rated for years. He’s a dunk cost. Can’t even raise his value to trade at this point because every smart team knows he’s fake gold. 3:30

I hate to break it to Nets fans. But Ben never wanted to play for y’all🤷 When he was being traded from Philly he requested to go to a California team. He doesn’t want to be in Brooklyn. Once his contract is up don’t be surprised if he returns to All NBA form after going to a team of his choosing 🤷

It's Schröder! At least Schröder is good at 3 point shooting, at free throws, has not been injured very much in his 11 years in the NBA and is MVP and world champion of the world cup 2023. End of Story. 😁 Good luck with Simmons. 😆

@@Karma_will_get_you_for_that I get the injury part. Schroeder is a career journeyman who does not help team to win games. In the start of the season, there is no way to pick Schroeder over a healthy Ben. This is why I stopped listening to those two clowns.

@@IvanMartinez-or7fi what? Ben was injured. There is no way Schroeder outperforms a half healthy Ben. Have you watched the Nets games with Ben? They were playing well and winning games. Without Ben, this Nets’ team is horrible. Of course we can question whether Ben can ever be healthy again because back injury is hard to be dealt with.
