Great show as always Eddie, thank you for keeping Kings fans informed and stay motivated every day. Having said that, I am glad that it seems you are finally coming around to realize this team is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Yes, we did,'t make a splash with Stamkos type players, but I am excited. We are bigger, more physical, nastier to play against and a more stable goalie( Talbert looked good to have the 2nd best defensive team for most of the year play in front of him, we can do the same with Kuemper). Lets not forget the kids , Clark, thomas, turcotte, Laferriere, QB.... . We have leadership, size, talent and youth on our side. I am pumped and can't wait to prove all the doubters wrong. Go kings Go....

Kings are in the worst position possible, the no-man’s land, and we have the problem of no rebuild possible because the current regime already spectacularly failed the previous rebuild.

Fair analysis. Losing PLD and Arvidsson in reality is more about losing the potential of what they could deliver over the course of 82+ games than what they actually did last season. That being said, the only hope the Kings have of improving even a little is if they finally allow the young players to play through mistakes and blossom. That's the only way to raise the ceiling of this team.

I believe you could argue that Foegle will get an opportunity he didnt get in Edmonton so he could produce more and he adds and element of physicality So he to PLD is an upgrade i believe. TJ is an upgrade to grundy and i feel turcotte and Akil Thomas are more than capable when mixed with the otrhers to fill roles the need to be filled with more upside. I hope they give Fagemo a real chance he could be a good right shot threat on the PP and i think he would fit well on the top line that is already so good defensively. Defensively yes losing Roy is tough but it was always going to happen i am actually baffled they didnt get something for him at the deadline since we all know there is no way he was getting resigned. Goalies we will see i believe Portillo gets brought up at some point either by poor play by one of the tenders or an injury

People are really losing their shit too quick. PLD alone being gone is addition by subtraction. I think having some meat on the roster helps our finesse do their job.

We are better just minus Dubois ! Ya ant team would miss army , however maybe foegle and jeanottt are better puzzle pieces ! And the two new defenseman have an opportunity to step up ! We could be way better ! Plus a lot of young talent could be better this year too ! Also we have room for another trade , oh and kueomer is better than Talbot .

They still have a lot of talent, but I'm a little worried about the bottom 6 forwards. If kuemper stays healthy and plays decent, then I think they can make it.

Agreed. We won't even know how other teams will appear until we play the season. Hell, it could even be a completely different team at the end (hoping Rob Blake plays his cards extremely right but doubt he will).

Lol i know this: Tanner Jeannot got them soup bones he'll be entertaining af to watch. Playoffs? If the scoring lost in the players out can be mitigated by the youth stepping up... maybe. Certainly gonna be harder to push around come playoff time Edmunson will be cross checking the living shit outta anyone close to the crease lol

Recently saw rankings for nhl teams since 1980-81 season. Kings were 17th just in front of sharks and quacks. I thought it was very fair and accurate. Even the two cups couldn't get kings close to the top 10. What is tell us about this franchise?

Roy was over rated and gave the puck away in his own zone for fun, RV and Grundstrom were rarely fit. We lost PLD. If you look at who came in those guys were mostly replaced by better or at leas5 equivalent players simply by being there and available. So it comes down to Clarke vs Roy. Clarke will improve tge offence and everyone would freak if he didn’t play and Roy was re-signed. I’m not saying Blake has been great but this should be a PO team.

Here's hoping the Kings and the Leafs don't sit on their laurels playing a staring contest with one another trying to get the better of one another in a potential Kaliyev/Robertson deal. A straight up one for one works here and additional picks or players are not necessary.

Edmonton, Vegas, and Vancouver are a lock. Kings are gonna fight to get the 7th or 8th spot. If they're in, they lose 1st round. If out, Blake is out. Blake, I believe, knows it.

Na vegas is cooked. LA in 2nd or 3rd and finally play someone else, and beat the nucks, then get swept in round 2 by the oilers. but at least its a round 2 this year

Cam Talbot is not your guy he has flashes of brilliance then he reverts back to what he is a sub par goaltender. Probably a wash on defence, your forward group is lacking. I hope you make the playoffs but it will be very difficult. This team is not as strong as it was 2 years ago.

The Kings are not a cup contender. They are a fringe playoff team. Can we trade doughty and kopitar and start the rebuild? Might as well trade Trevor Moore too because his value is the highest it will be.

At this moment, with this roster, The Kings are not a playoff team this incoming season. That's the reality. They can't even have "playing style identity. "

"Are the Kings still a playoff team?" - wrong question... Honestly evaluate the quality and depth of other teams' rosters first. The NHL is GM's game in this hard cap era. We need to find a gm who is able to design a contending team (Zito of the Panthers can be a good example), which is the first thing to do, and we should ask ourselves "who should be the next gm?"

They really haven’t done anything to get me pumped so far. Same ol team. No goalie, enforcement. I doubt they even make the playoffs this upcoming season, fire Rob Blake.

To answer the question of the video title, and much to the dismay of me but more importantly people named Doughty and Kopitar, no they aren't anymore. Way too much youth will be relied on which means more mistakes and probably too many goals against. The team is now going back a few years to the the first years of Todd McLellan, but with much older and near retirement Kopitar and final years of Doughty. Still too much blame on Blake. They are very limited on cap money and that excludes them from getting quality players. Kemper will be one of the bright spots on the team so people need to relax about him. The big problem will be defense and defensive reliability which drops when you lose a guy like Roy. The Kings will be relying on young forwards to play above their experience and especially young defensemen to do the same thing after Doughty, Anderson, and Gavrikov. That's 3 spots and quite a lot of minutes to rely on young inexperienced guys. So yes, the Kings biggest problem will be defensively, which means more mistakes, which means more goals against, which unfortunately means, not a playoff team.

This is a team that will certainly be more truculent which is good. That said, another year and the tread on the big Slovenian and Dewy gets a bit balder as each game passes. The supporting cast certainly doesn’t make you go “wow” beyond Kempe and Q, and Blake continues to deny his coaching staff a RHS beyond Laffy. The roster quagmire created when Lardo went north left Hiller and his PP scheme flummoxed and going into the 24-25 season, still a glaring hole with the right shot and the only addition was ANA castoff “Code Brown” as the assistant running the PP. Yikes! This will be a team that gets in as the 8 seed if management is lucky IMO but don’t fret, no matter what happens Blakey will still have a job because Luc is never bloody going anywhere.

The kings are worse than last year. Their playoff counterparts got better. I believe vegas will be great next year even tho they lost some players. Seattle got better and we can bank on grubauer not missing months. Seattle will give LA a run for their money. Rittich has to play like he did in the playoffs and Spence and Clarke have to be AWESOME for this team to make the playoffs.

I would trade Kaliev for Robertson one for one kaliev would fit in win the leafs and same with Robertson with the kings probably b a good trade for both teams .and i just don't know what to think about kaliev with the kings anymore but i always wished he would find his game

Laffy on the first line with kopi and Kempe so he can learn from kopi. Foegele on the second line with Moore and danoult Third line Turcotte Byfield jeannot Fourth Thomas as 4c

Of course there are a bunch of rumors circulating around out there regarding Kings picking up this player or that player, every fan and NHL GM knows that Blake is overpaying in most of his recent transactions so why not float about an outlandish trade scenario that benefits their team and hope it gains traction and makes its way onto Blake's desk.

I think the best case scenario for the LA Kings going into the 2024-2025 season is for them to miss the playoffs. It’s the only way that someone like Rob Blake will get the can and Luc goes with him. Their time has expired. Another whose time has expired is Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty. I thank them for everything they’ve done but it’s time to move on from them. I would shop them around for a trade and prospects, along with Kevin Fiala. A brand new start and build around Byfield.

Eddie. Started listening to you about 2 years ago. Up until a couple of months ago I pretty much agreed with everything you have said. But recently I can say I disagree with almost everything you say or suggest. Acquire Toffoli? Stop. Acquire any ex King?! Stop. NEVER works for any franchise ever and Toffoli is slow and unnoticeable until he’s on the PP. These days I feel like you are repeating some sentiments of the talking heads of the NHL that typically don’t do any research before they speak. Like Kuemper. “Average” goaltender. Hmmmm maybe look at him and Markstrom. Similar games played, similar underwhelming teams. It’s not even close really! Kuemper is actually a very good goaltender whose career really took off here in LA. Shocker! One bad year last year. Anyway, too long of a message, and I’m not saying I love a single move this off-season…. But, some of your comments are off the wall IMO.

A whole lot of futile spin, making facile statements of hope without any depth. I could tear every piece of this apart, but it's not worth the effort. Sad, Eddie. Just sad. Also, despite all the verbiage, Eddie admits that they have replaced Talbot with a goalie who did worse in WAS than Cam did in OTT, that they've suffered a net loss in offense (and Foegele's stats will almost certainly nosedive now that he doesn't have McDirty and Draisaitl to pump up the offense and take the top defense awy from him), and that the defense is significantly worse. Basically all this adds up to is "the Kings took several steps back, but maybe they'll get lucky". Good luck with that.

The Kings can’t be presumed and expected to be an elite NHL team this coming season. Elite teams are the top eight in points after 82 regular season games. Frankly, the Kings will have to play far better to be an elite team given all the recognized elite teams in the NHL. The Kings are known to be soft and avoid big time dominant hard checking. They offer finesse and mediocre skill. They lack the powerful dominant puck control game. They have had a very hard time to beat the best NHL teams. That will likely continue with this squad.
