Indeed they were! Nothing beat doing some old school LAN parties with the original Warcraft. One of the fun benefits of playing the originals though, is how much more I understood the lore and backstories to a lot of what's in WoW. Back when I played (from '97-'11), most the people I played WoW with had no clue about how much they were missing.

there are tons of truly excellent western developed games, while in japan there was indeed a golden era, on PC western games were the best. And some of them, like the ultima, wizardry and the dungeon master series influenced japanese devs so much to the point of creating the classic jrpg and dungeon crawler genres.

Hy. Great review! I have been a huge fan of the series since 2002 when I first played Lost Vikings 1 on Pc. I just love the concept of how you have to master the abilities of each viking, work as a team on order to survive the challenging levels by solving puzzles. No doubt Lost vikings is one of the best when it comes to puzzle solving/ co-op gameplay and humor due to which it still holds up today pretty well. As of Lost vikings 2 there is not much to say. It is as entertaining as the first one. Recently it has been announced that Blizzard is planning to revisit the franchise. If you haven't played the Lost Vikings don't hesitate...you will have a lot of fun.

Obviously I got stuck in some levels and it made me quit, but it have something that make you come back and tried again, and when I back with fresh mind to try, I always figure out what I have to do. Defenitly one of the most original game I ever played. Too bad this is another franchise that was forgotten in the past :(

This takes me back to 1994-5. I moved to a new neighbourhood as a kid in England my mom threw me outside and said go make some friends you aren't staying inside. I met some twins called Paul and Richard. I was invited into their house they had a SNES and I was riddled with Envy as I only had a Sega Master System. They had this adapter which allowed for 4 slots to play Mario Kart and they had this game also the box looked so badass like how I guess kids see God Of War today to me there was nothing cooler or Radical haha. I always loved playing as the Sheild guy seriously computer games were really good social things in the days, I wouldn't say so much now as it does have its perks with the Internet but the cons outweigh the pros. Nothing will ever beat going to people houses and playing their consoles and games with loads of other kids waiting for a turn.

Yeah these are good, just wish there were checkpoints or some way to upgrade hp to not have to replay levels so much just from one loss. Many save states were used in my playthrough of the first one. The first one is also a game where the higher res on MD is helpful. Remakes with split screen MP like in Toejam & Earl would be cool, if that works with the level design.

The gameplay is very similar to that of the Little Barbarian, the avatar of "Kid Paddle", the comic strip also known as "Game Over". In addition to the platform action aspect, with puzzles based on multi-functional weapons, the game works with a code-saving system that has the courtesy to memorize the last one even when the SNES is switched off. Items, on the other hand, are not (watch out for game over!).

Pi’s aren’t, but ROMs and emulation are. However, sometimes it’s the only way to experience an old game, and since used games don’t benefit the developer at all, it’s a bit of a grey area.
@J3su5Sav32
@J3su5Sav32 6 жыл бұрын
If you own the hard copies of these games I believe you have the right to own the data/rom version. Seeing as you have already payed for the use of the game (hard copy). After that, I believe it becomes a grey area. And like Admiral Frosty stated, it doesn’t benefit the original company. If that were the case, stores like game stop and other used game stores would be just as illegal since they are profiting on the game rather than the original developers. Using retropie is no different than the stores reselling hard copies. And at least I own hard copies of the games I’ve gained onto my Pi.

The music was not odd. The housey, dancey, funky hip hop, new jack swing style of music was very popular in that time. So it made sense from that early 90's perspective and most people around from time loved the music in the game. If you wasn't born yet or a toddler around that I can imagine it sounded a bit odd.
