It's worth mentioning that Dragon's Fury doesn't do increased damage against burning players, but rather it does *decreased* damage against non-burning players. This is why its building damage is 75, as it is its base damage

If you say that the Bushwacka can't deal crits by itself, then the Manmelter can't deal crits on its own. By that logic it just reacts to fire caused by enemies...

The Bushwacka should be counted for full crits, since the Fan O' War is. Both of them deal full crits when they would otherwise deal minicrits, so either one should be counted for full crits or none.

Kinda unrelated to the main point of the video, but no having a main does not mean that at all. Provided you're actually good at the game, a main is just the thing you play the most and default to. It does not mean in the slightest that you are incapable of playing other classes. What you're thinking of is prolly a onetrick.

Idk if backstabs should count as a crit, because how the game calculates back stab damage is different from crits and the battalion's backup doesn't stop a backstab, wich it would if it counted as crit.

Fun fact: It's the other way around with the dragon's fury. It deals 1/3 dmg on non burning players while it has a base 90 dmg. You can see this if you use dragons fury on buildings

I always thought a "main" was just the character you're most proficient in. I generally main Scout & Medic myself but I still can play a decent-to-good Soldier, Pyro, Heavy, and Engie too.

Interesting, though it does come down to inherited mechanics from stock versions (backstabs & headshots) to tilt it in favor of the full crits. And without those mechanics, the weapons would pretty absolutely be considered downgrades unless they brought something game changing to the table instead.

I think for Pyro, it is more that Pyro kinda has no role in the game. His original design for TFC was mostly "The class for people with a bad connection". If you go back to the OG pyro in TF2, what was he good at? He didn't have ranged combat capabilities. He was only effective in close range, but Heavy was already better than him at that... He had no mobility, or anything special other than setting people on fire. All other classes have a general idea of what they are supposed to be doing. Scout's, sniper, and spy are pick classes (but operate each in a very different style), soldier and demoman are the big mobile damage dealers that usually deal with the groups of enemies, heavy is here to shred anything that is foolish enough to get close, but requires help at longer range because he's a big target. And Medic and Engie are here for support. What did Pyro do, other than spychecking? Nowadays he's good at defending his team against spies and projectiles, and pushing ubers away... But what is Pyro's actual role in the team by itself? He doesn't really have a clear role, even if he is way better with the Jungle Inferno. So I think the combo playstyle was to try and give pyro something to do, because otherwise he is pretty much useless. And if you remove his combo ability, what do you have left? He can be countered by just another pyro pressing right click, past the combos.

To be fair, there are more crit weapons because two classes core design elements revolve around critical hits, those two being Sniper and Spy, and Pyro didn't have airblast at launch, so those mini-crits were added after release. It is still surprising that there are as many mini-crit weapons as there are given mini-crits did not exist when the game was released.

11:10 I don't think the reason heavy has so few (mini-)crit sources is because valve thinks he's particularly strong but more so because out of all classes he'd be the most terrifying to face against with something like the buff banner. One of heavies biggest weaknesses is his massive damage fall off, remove that and people drop like flies even from a semi-decent range.

Assuming backstabs count as crits, I'm going to say there are more full crits than minis in the game. That being said, if only stock butterfly knife is counted since no other weapon technically has an added stat / the backstab itself doesn't count as a crit, I'm going to go for minis since Scout has quite a few weapons that deal minicrits or give minicrit damage boosts. edit: I feel like I was right, but for the wrong reasons lol. Sniper had more crits, and pyro had more mini-crits. anyways, I guess I can say I was right :)

My guess depends on if each knife/sniper rifle counts as one. If each counts individually, I'd say crits. Otherwise, mini crits.

During the description of the Dragon's Fury at 7:05, you describe the damage bonus as "300 times" the base damage, which I am led to believe is incorrect because this would result in a damage per fireball of 22,500. While still not enough to render the DF viable in competitive 6s, you probably meant "300 percent", or three times. The video's still good though. Loving it.

Having a main in tf2 just mean who you default too. For me it demo i love playing pure stock demo everything about him is perfect in my eyes but i also love jumping around like a mad man on solly, or mowing down the babies on heavy, or erecting a dispenser every once in a while but at the end of the day be it pugs or pubs demoman will always be the most fun.

IMO counting the knives as full crits isn’t quite right. A backstab doesn’t deal 3x normal damage, and no form of crit mitigation prevents a backstab. Importantly, crit charging a knife does NOT result in guaranteed backstabs from any direction, only 120 damage which is the proper 3x of the knives’ 40 damage. The crit in this case is a crit only in name, satisfying feedback that you’ve succeeded your backstab and nothing more At least Sniper headshots deal the proper triple damage and are blocked by crit mitigations

I disagree with your opinion on "mains", I main pyro but I dont play only pyro... yes, hes my most played - hes the 3rd most supportive class in the game that can actually defend himself worth a damn but that doesn't mean I dont play other classes... 132 hrs as pyro but then also 120 hrs as soldier, 102 as engineer, 87 at demo, 53 as medic, so on and so forth. the way you described having a main just really irked me and so I felt i needed to explain what I believe it means to main a class: hes youre most played and/or the class you do well at and/or the class you enjoy playing the most.

As a main pyro: (gosh I feel like my opinion just got invalid by now) Hell no, never say that about the best and dopamine factory that combo puro is, this it's not about "awhh they have crits" let pyro have something for once, a scout can deal 112 with one scattergun shot, a demo can deal 100 with one pipe, why is it so hard for people to let pyro have a 90 + afterburn shot but only if you set them on fire before. it's not even that easy, you ain't going to find all the new players picking pyro for combo and stuff. also having a lot of weapons that change a lot pyro's playstyle is awesome, and makes the class fun. also, the reserve shooter should deal minicrits on airblasted players, soldier just needs to click at their enemy feet to make them go airborn, you know what pyro has to do? right click them at their feet, but just at close range
