Another great video! I love your comment on how a bag shouldn’t be about trends, rather what works for your personal style. ❤ I also agree that none of these bags are basic by any stretch. They’re classics and ones that have stood the test of time. My personal fav of the bunch is the pochette metis.

Great video. I totally agree. What I’m bored of is certain people calling classic bags ‘basic’ or ‘out of style’. The speedy is iconic and has heritage. I love my LV speedy, it’s held up over years of wear, and I have a few other items of the same canvas - key pouch and T pouch - they look so cute together. When people criticise the iconic LV canvas it just lowers my opinion of them rather than my bag. We should be able to enjoy whatever we like without negativity.👜❤😊

I have speedy 25 and still wearing it currently eventhough it’s not bandouliere, people don’t wear it alot on the street, but it still pleased my eyes, its elegant. The top handle leather is so smooth it feels comfortable on crook and my hand when I walk, it fits tons.

Great video and beautiful collection!! 😍 The Celine bag is such a timeless piece. It resembles the Triomphe which I’m currently longing for! I agree with your statement, a lot of these bags are considered “basic” because they are overly saturated on social media. Yet many people don’t own any of them or even know of anyone who may own them. It’s all relative!

Yess! Celine is just so timeless. Social media has sped everything up - revolving around the hot new trends and fast moving seasons. I think when we step off the social media hamster wheel, we can all appreciate and see what works best for our own personal styles!

I totally agree with you. I think they are absolutely classic shapes and styles. They will never be out of date. Very practical. Very beautiful bags. They might be not on trend but never outdated! And also I dont see so many of them around either. KZfaq, Instagram-yes. Airport for lv speedy -yes. But not all over the city. So , not boring at all! Thank you for the video!

Yess! Glad you agree! I think oftentimes classics are deemed boring bc there isn’t all that much hype around them as there are around hot new trends, and I think longevity is so underrated nowadays. As for seeing them everywhere, I’d like to know which town or city everyone is wearing these bags! 😂 I don’t see it either outside of social media and maybe some specific spots in NYC.

I absolutely agree that what's in style depends on you and what works for you!! however, from my perspective, 'basic' refers to something being unoriginal or mainstream. so i honestly thing most bags today are pretty basic! But that's because it works! I love seeing unusual or innovative bags, but sometimes mainstream is just reliable as an actual owner

I SO agree with you. All your examples are beautiful bags (especially the Celine ❤). Some KZfaqrs will sell you on the great features of a bag, only to come back a year later & trash it. Your channel is my favorite because you buy bags you love, from Coach to Chanel, and are not driven by the latest trend.

I will never let my Métis go. Love it so much. Most used bag in my collection. On the other hand, I love my Celine box (same as yours), but barely use it. Not super comfortable, especially the strap. I love looking at it and knowing it’s here for me. It’s not boring! It’s stunning and classic Celine. 😉

Love this video and your content! I have the speedy 35 (ebene), the old and good version (from 2011). I loved it at lot in the beginning but then it became not so comfortable and I got also pregnant at that time so set it aside. I came back to it about 1 year ago and love it again ever since. I can understand people saying it is boring, but it is what you as the bag owner bring to the bag and the way you present it and the way you feel with it.

I have the reverse monogram pochette metis and a really, loud tiedye mermaid color chanel 19. So many ppl don't like the 19 bc its so different and not neutral but I'm absolutely obsessed with it.

I think trends can be fun to sprinkle in here and there if they get us excited but a whole handbag collection or wardrobe full of trends would be exhausting and a waste of money! I’m with you!!

I have several repeat bags because they work so well for me (LV speedy, Goyard St. Louis, YSL Nikki). Every time I wear a monogrammed bag to my office there are negative comments and judgements about being pretentious, fake, my coworkers don’t need to be flashy with logos; everyone has the same things I have etc. etc… I like what you said - if everyone has it then something must be done correctly and working correctly for a lot of people to own the same thing and companies to keep making it. ❤

I would be interested to see a video comparing the Celine box bag to the A.P.C. Grace Bag and the Demellier london Vancouver bag if you have them. They look very similar but a lot less money.

I completely agree about the fact that if the bag fits into your lifestyle, doesn't mean that it has to be trendy. I originally had the Pochette Metis in the regular monogram in my collection and I sold it for the reverse monogram one and I just had to re-add the original one because I just felt it works better for me instead of the reverse.

The same thing happened to me. I had the reverse monogram but the regular monogram works better for me. It’s so much easier to match with my outfits.

I love this video. I agree 110% with everything you just said. I can't believe people can say this ______ bag is basic. Like do people have thousands and thousands of dollars to spend easily or do they actually work hard for their money and save like most of us. I personally love Louis Vuitton and will buy monogram and canvas bags. I buy whatever I like, not what is in or out or on trend or whatever.

All your bags are beautiful. I wish I had all of them. One should just wear what one loves and not listen to others . My speedy 25 is about 20 yrs old, a little beaten up, but I still love it. A great everyday bag. Btw I haven’t actually seen many women wear it . Mostly I see YSL , Which I’m not sure it’s authentic as mostly teenagers wear them. There is no such thing as a basic luxury bag with all that money they cost. Just do what your heart desire. I’m looking for the Antigona for now. Love the Celine too.

Whether bags are classic or trendy, people will say anything if they don't like the bag anymore so I agree with you you that as long as you love your bag and it works for you, just use it and wear in good health. I have 3 of the 5 that you showed here and I'm not letting them go. My least used bag in my collection is the Neverfull because I don't like carrying it at the mall but I like its functionality when we travel so I'm still keeping it.

Love this video! I personally prefer LV canvas over their leather. If I want leather, I do chanel or Hermes. They don’t have coated canvas. Need something cleaned or wiped or cos it’s raining- LV😊 “Basic” to me is more “essential”. Like a basic black tee or little black dress… not really basic, more essential 😂

I let go of my Antigona lock mini in Chestnut 🌰 color. Such a rich color but the lock mini handle is smaller (only goes to my wrist) and the magnet is so strong. I wish I bought the classic one like yours, I might have kept it.

Totally agree with you! These bags are nothing but basic because anyone that buys them is spending a pretty penny on each bag. I have worked hard to purchase the bags I love and for some they may feel like they are basic but honestly it’s people who haven’t made those kinds of purchases who say these types of things and I love LV classic prints because of the heritage so it also comes down to why you love the piece and personal preferences.

I think when most people use the word basic, they mean boring or old fashioned & aren’t necessarily referring to price. Expensive, over priced luxury goods can still be basic. But trendy, popular, less expensive bags can also be basic. The video of you roasting ugly bags is so fun. There are many who’d beg to differ about those bags being ugly. But also, there are many people ( like you) who find the bags you mentioned today timeless, classic, chic. It’s somewhat the same argument. I do think it’s ok to carry bags others may find ugly. And it’s ok to carry bags others find boring. Fashion is subjective. *steps off rant podium* Love your content 😊

The very essence of timeless bags is that they make up the basics of a wardrobe. I for one still love these "basic" bags. From an efficiency stand point, I don't want to overthink which bags work with my outfit. So these timeless bags aka basic bags work well with a lot of outfits, thus working well for me.

Quick question, when you waterproof your LV, do you tape off the vechetta leather and are very careful about where you apply the AppleGuard?

I cover the other areas with paper towel but I’m not super careful bc the canvas is just fine if you accidentally spray it. Just wipe it off.

@@amessina4333 the first time I did it, I laid paper towels over the bag and used tape to keep them all in place, so the only parts that were exposed were the vachetta leather pieces. After that, I wasn’t so careful. 😂 Just be sure to spray from at least 6-10 inches away and don’t over saturate.

It’s actually opposite for me with the Pochette Métis. I actually recently returned mine because everywhere I go everyone seems to have the bag so I was turned off by it. Literally every single person I’ve seen has it even at my son’s school 🤦🏻‍♀️. Will I regret it? Because I do think it’s so beautiful 🤔

💖🎀💖For me, less is more.Many times it take more thought, creativity and imagination to design an item that has a distinct shape, a piece of hardware or a type of stitching that makes it 'Pop'. I believe some people think a bag or clothing attire needs many things on it to elevate a look and the look needs to keep changing. Basic, simple or classic is a good thing as long as it makes you feel good😎

All of your bags are GORGEOUS and if I own either I would not part ways because of what someone says in real life, much less social media. However, I have no issue with someone feeling they are dated, their opinion is theirs, with That said, if it's a bag I wish to, yet own; feel free to sellit to me at a preloved date price. I agree that luxury bags are never basic. the design may be simple but there is usually a design element. the right bags paired with the right outfit can make the simple outfit looks stylish. If people say basic maybe they are referring to the most saleable bag in the brand, the one that people will start with as their first bag from that brand not necessarily because of the price. basic can also be the classics. dunno why basic has a negative connotation. just wondering how u feel about the limitations of the bags : I like the aesthetics of the celine bag and the box leather is so luxurious (compared to even chabel caviar ) but the 2 metal hardware on the straps are sharp and hair get caught in them. The antigone bag looks nice but it is hard to get in and out due to the zip and the stiff handles. as for the LV speedy, the shape looks distorted when I put only a few heavy small items. aesthetically the LV pochette matis looks fussy but it is a very easy to use and functional bag. Chanel classic bag may be quite common in where I come from but it is a very easy to use bag can dress down or up so versatile not to mention the caviar leather is very hardy.

I’m sorry but anyone that feels the Speedy is out of style, clearly, has not fashion sense, taste, or knows anything about what timeless means. That handbag screams class and sophistication. It’s literally the “face” of Louis Vuitton and is their most popular handbag.

Is ok that many people said is basic or fall out of love for that bag. Mean in the future less people carry the same bag I carry. I wouldn't want to see many people carry same bag to me in the public. I never want nor is in my radar to get Pochette metis. This month i got 3 and soon 4th. 10th anniversary of Pochette metis and my new 4 Pochette metis. 👜🙃❤️ I using my reverse monogram and I enjoying it. Did I entre the games late. Not really becoz of the glazing issue, cracking and stiffness of the canvas of the old Metis. I am so happy I entre the games late. Now pochette metis have improves and I not so worry anymore about the issue Metis have in the pass ❤️👜

I heard its being replaced with the new east west Pochette Metis that is about to launch. Supposedly the original PM will be phased out next year. I hope it’s not true because I feel like they are very different bags!

Boring isn’t a put down, it simply means I am tired of the bag and therefore it is not new and/ or exciting to me anymore. Basic used to mean a different thing like how we call a white cotton tee a wardrobe basic and no one gets offended 😅

Idk how people think the Celine Box bag is basic while going crazy over the Hermes Constance. It’s literally the same bag with different hardware. It’s a classic shoulder bag and I like it better than the Constance.

Simple and classic design just works for the branded goods junkies just because of the brands names. Take that brand out, there are just simple basic bags (positive or negative is up to each interpretation)

I dont have the right words of expressions for it, but tbh it seems that for some they would be only interesting in these bags you are showing just because they are LV, Chanel pr Celine. Lets be honest, plain square bags are plenty, but why pay thousands for a Celine?

The speedy and the classic flap are “basic” by association, as you can see horribly dressed unkept people wearing them (doesn’t matter that they are most likely fake). A bag is just one item, and it will not dress your whole body or do your make-up, brush your hair or paint your nails. So, yes all of these will look good on the right person, but only some will elevate your look. All but the classic flap are day only bags, for example. I see people taking speedies out to dinner. That is a no. Celine can transition into an evening bag depending on the length of the strap.

A bag is just that, a bag. I see it as the cherry on top. I agree, it’s not going to make or break your look. Poise, posture, a smile, clean and tidy nails and hair - those will all go a lot farther than any handbag. 😉

A lot of rich people of New Money would call this and that bag basic, they think they can throw thousands and thousands and buy the elegance they lack, but without taste and fashion knowledge they still look less elegant then someone who wears a simple speedy bag proudly knowing the history behind it.

I am kinda feeling that Chanel is beginning to suffer from the Streisand Effect. Their moves to make the brand more exclusive has made it more coveted and thus more ubiquitous. It makes me think, do I want to labor and spend my hard-earned money on a bag that is becoming "common" and which is of questionable quality lately and made by a brand that seems to despise all but their highest-spending customers? Or is there something else better for me?

Hi hannah, this topic was discussed in superdacobs live and I agree with both of you. I don't care if people think LV canvas is basic or boring. I think it's classic, elegant and most of all useful. With the pochette metis, I have the reverse cause I'm clumsy and live in rainy London. 🥲
