Now that the pace of fashion moves at lightening speed, it means that brands are knocked of the 'top' spot and moved out of the limelight just as quickly, so are these designer brands dead? and why have they fallen off? I go through a few brands that in my opinion have fallen out of the spotlight and I give some ideas as to why that may have happened...some of the brands included might surprise you...ENJOY!

Moschino needs a great marketing team. Maybe collab with a new up and coming pop star to be their face. If Doja Cat fixes herself up and stops going through whatever she's going through right now she'd be a fun camp person for them maybe?

To me, Balenciaga absorbed all of the clientele Mugler could have. I don’t know if there’s a need for both. Even when Ghesquiere’s Balenciaga was gaining momentum, Mugler was winding down. So much of Mugler was the man himself & there’s no real way to replicate that. Kind of like JPG, a huge personality that helped sell the clothes. Also, it’s hard to step out of the shadow when people will forever reference the 80s & 90s HC shows.

I love It when you check in on “dead” or at least “comatose” brands. I always like to have a reference then when suddenly in 3 years time it seems everyone is obsessed with them. You should sometime review a luxury fashion from 5,10 or 15 years ago about up and coming brands & trends and see where we are today with them. It’s trippy off you watch Ugly Betty or Gossip Girl or something and everyone is raving about D&G or DVF lol

I think DSquared2's biggest issue is their pricing, like I get that it's luxury but the argument that you can get the "same" thing from other brands for significantly less rings SO true with them, more-so than most IMHO. So much of their stuff has always reminded me of an ultra high end Abercrombie circa 2001-2005. The destroyed denim, logos, branding, dirty/tongue in cheek graphics.

I think there is a sense of curse when a brand becomes super trendy at the moment, to the point that is too popular and there is too many knock offs. Oversaturated, too accessible and nothing new happening. With that being said having a moment and on being on trend all the time is not possible. I have huge respect for brands that stick to their dna and create great garments, regardless of trends.

Loved this video - so many brands that could be having moments but aren’t there (Moschino totally wasting the Barbie opportunity). I still wear my Kenzo tiger sweater (the one everyone seemed to have) from time to time and have a kenzo clutch but outside of that find it a tad uninspiring. Re. Herve Leger I feel like they sit in an odd place where if you want to spend less there are lots of brands that can cater to that for far less … and if you want to spend more Alexander Vauthier or Alex Perry have people covered on the party front ! Fab video !

Great information Cassie, thank you for sharing. Your knowledge always astounds me. It's 106 degrees here, all we can wear are large silk moo moos with nothing underneath, it's so frightening to see and thats just from my own reflection in the mirror! Hopefully when weather gets cooler we can actually wear some of these beauties from the different fashion houses without fear of total body sweat saturation. Literally, we are melting down south, and not in a good way. It's so hot when I open my front door I feel like I'm checking something in the oven. More videos please, you are a delight.

I feel like Victoria Beckham took A LOT of notes when she wore Mouret back in the day and applied them to her own label. Her dresses are insanely flattering and well made and I was glad to hear you mention in one of the videos you posted a few days ago that her label is finally becoming profitable. Very well deserved. DSquared quality is top notch but I always wait for sales to get their stuff. I am obsessed with their outwear but feel like maybe the fact that they have such a hard time ditching real fur is the reason why a lot of their customers went elsewhere. Moschino is fun but I feel like their cheaper line, Love Moschino, is literally EVERYWHERE. I am talking every Marshall's store you walk into, you get assaulted by racks and racks of Love Moschino merch which isn't exactly appealing ... to me, anyhow. Kudos on another great video, Cassie! xo

Moschino has a bit of a problem with that their Love Moschino line got too available and at this point may be hurting the mainline. Also there not being a known successor. But Kenzo and Mugler are safe, I think, they seem to be on the up and coming with teenagers and young adults. Logo Sweats and tshirts for Kenzo, and basically everything denim incl tops for mugler. at least mainland, western europe

I think with Mugler, its such a recognizable brand. probably like 2 out of 5 people have that mesh cut out design from them in pants, a body suit or something. So with that I think its one of those things where people dont wanna wear in "fear" of looking like the masses. Unfortunately, not many people actually dress how they really would like, they dress how other people *influence* them to. so im sure alot of mugler is catching dust in many closets

One thing I will say about Moschino is that if you want to try a trend they are very affordable to do so. I said this on a video of yours a few years back when the Chanel and Prada dad sandals was all the buzz that I purchased the Moschino version because it was cheap. Now that the trend is about over I didn't pay the higher prices just to try it. Also, they have great swimwear that are unique.

Especially the jewel tone metallics and velvets that have a nice and streamlined silhouette. And the little metallic stripe peeping out along the bottom of the neutral pumps. Idk I feel like they hit a really good balance of fabulous but "wearable"- assuming we have already accepted 3"-4" heels are "wearable."

The pieces are affordable but still not cheap at all ( especially compared to our salaries here). The pieces are really logo heavy but otherwise quite unoriginal, so the brand itself annoys me to no end when I see it :D I feel like it offers nothing more than a Zara design with a logo of Karl’s head and/or his name. They did not really suffer any consequences. They‘re bigger than ever in the asian market, cause they didn‘t even hear about the scandal over there. Look at Dolce & Gabbana for instance - highly problematic for their statements a few years ago, where they got "cancelled". Few years later and it‘s like nothing ever happened. This will always be the case for luxury brands.

A lot of vintage Moschino was way before its time, I feel, it’s just waiting to be rediscovered en masse by gen z, which will basically guarantee a comeback. I agree about Mugler, they are in danger of selling their brand legacy for peanuts with HM catsuits and Amazon selling spiral leggings dupes.

Moschino has some cute bags here and there. I have a biker heart bag from them that’s just 🫶🏽🫶🏽

I am a huge Moschino fan. Moschino is not as represented on red carpet as let's say Dior. They usually have just one dress, but that one is great, and even the harshest critics agree on that. But you are totally on point. It is ahead of it's time, and they are not getting the clout they deserve.

As soon as I saw the title-I thought Givenchy!! I love it but it needs ….something to happen!!

It is kinda funny mentioning Givnechy, I like it probably because my parents did, so the "old" Givenchy. I mean I like everything 1970s so that shows my taste level.

I think with Dsquared fast fashion eg Zara has killed their vibe. When looking at the men’s jeans specifically you can walk into Zara and get something similar for 3/4 of the price! Moschino….here,here. Barbiecore & Moschino 🤝🏾, I feel like they created this “core”. I’d love to know, what was the missed opportunity here🤔. I’m still gonna get a pair of “Cruel summer”! I’m gonna say it, a lot these brands aren’t it anymore bc they didn’t give opportunities, collabs and endorsements to the celebrities/culture that kept them booming. I’m not a Nicki Minaji fan but she put Giuseppe out there for the gworls!

I hope they don’t rebrand because the charm of Versace is the fact that the family is still a part of it 😭

I think that these brands don’t have any “it” items at the moment and that’s why one would think they’ve fallen off. I DO think that if you’re into fashion you can make any brand work for your aesthetic, whatever it may be. Moschino, specifically, has always treaded on that fine line of being costumey.

I’ll still always remember though how Moschino changed the world with their McDonald’s collection. It was such an upset and it was just 10 years ago!

The problem with bandage dresses is that you need to have a banging body and it's basically only club wear. It's the least forgiving dress out there. Even if you have the perfect body, you are just a glass of water away from ruining the look.

To me, Giuseppe Zanotti do the best men's sandals. Granted, I can't afford said sandals, but if I could, I'd have each style in every color. All the other fashion houses seem to just do big clunky slides for men and just call it a day.
