Thanks for sharing this! That means a lot you would take time to tell me how you feel here. I know I deal with my own doubts and questions often as well. I think the detail that Tyler calls the song Trees, and it’s standing in the trees asking God for a sign from Him is significant. I look at my own life and I see things that hurt and don’t make sense, and I see prayers answered. But with Trees it reminds me that the Bible tells us that nature itself is own way we can find confidence in God’s existence. But believe in God is a very personal thing. It is something you can talk yourself out of, or into. But at its core it’s about faith in Jesus. I do find comfort believing in God, however I can’t say I haven’t pushed for God to show me an extra sign. And in many ways, He has. I am reminded of something Jesus said to people while he was on earth. He said those who are seeing Him then and witness all this proof that he is God are blessed. But even more blessed are the ones who believe without seeing Him. I hope this shows you I really appreciate you opening up about something so personal here. It means a lot you are share if this! I hope along this journey you find true peace and clarity for your faith.

I really do admire those people that have great faith in Jesus since it’s difficult for me to do the same thing. Sometimes It is extremely hard to have faith that God is there or exists. I'm very limited as a human by sin, doubts, and my bishops. The things that I am thinking and feeling can chance constantly. THANK GOD that he is not limited by my struggles. My doubting can NOT make him any less real than he is. No matter what I'm going through at the time, my faith could be plummeting, or I could be having an awful day; JESUS stays consistent. He is the rock and my weakness could never change that fact. As for all the horrible things that happen in life, we don't know why they happen. I question why.... But I am not God. He knows all things and all things are to his ultimate purpose. Does God's goodness rely on what he gives us? If it does then his goodness decreases when things go badly. God's goodness does not change every time our circumstances change. God's goodness is not based off of what he does for us. It is based off of WHO HE IS. This is why I have a hope and a purpose.

@@jennybaker5713 the reason why is in the Bible, sadly most Christians don't read the Bible these days (I am not exempt). Also, if you knew why, it would make you angry at humans. Read Genesis for example, God's love is so sharp it speared through my heart when I was losing faith, but then I read the book of Genesis. It made me realize that we are not deserving of God's love as humans. But still he gave us redemption through christ, it's a sad love reality (the Bible until now).

Thanks Eric! That is an interesting idea! Yes Trees I believe has always been like a tithe to God for their show. In many ways what they do is very worshipful! Personally I think they lead by example. What I mean by that is their lives and conduct are set up to not contradict themselves. Sadly, I believe if they were to come out and share the gospel at a show or in a video, I don't believe they would find much response. Simply because that is a very personal choice that many people make for themselves day to day. That seems like it would be a very hard sell. God could definitely do a work in people and use them to bring others to salvation, but I'm not sure if a secret mission is what they have in mind. When I first became a fan for a few years I thought a similar thing, but lately I have had a different thought. Here is my best guess. 1. For shows, it is a celebration of life and to keep moving forward. They have songs about God and end with trees because it's meaningful to them, and also, like I said, they are giving a tithe back to God for what He has given them. It is very discouraging to me (and I'm sure them as well) that the fan chant for trees has become "Here we f**king go!". Not sure why fans would do this when they themselves don't use language in their songs, or videos, or interviews at all. 2. The truly curious fans could see their lives and be convinced. A fan does't need to dig far to learn about their faith and how it is so important to the music. Yet so so many people ignore that side. But a few fans could see it, and WILL either be encouraged, or come to faith themselves. Again they are leading be example on this front. 3. They are helping the mental illness that is so powerful these days. Their main message has been find a kitchen sink if you have nothing else, and stay alive! This is beneficial for salvation! The less people finding themselves in a place considering taking their life is definitely a win for humanity, and the God that gave us life. 4. They are artists and they love good music and telling stories. Their secret narrative of Dema is complex and ready to be discovered around every turn. I myself understand this passion! It's fun, and it adding more artistic depth to an already beautiful body of work. Sorry for all this information, but I have to say I have been wanting to discuss this very idea with other fans to see what you think. I agree almost all they do is very worshipful, and that in itself is a powerful victory for people to possibly come to Christ. I have been following the church that Tyler grew up in and his family goes to online for a while now. It has helped me understand in many ways his faith background and even how he thinks of his faith in a small way. They are called five14 church, look them up here on youtube. Yeah, Trench was the same way, but I actually think that an argument can be made for Formidable. That song does not really make clear sense if you try to interpret it through a person or a number of people. But listen to it from a perspective of God. Let me know what you think!

Yes! Scaled And Icy is propaganda so it’s crazy! But YES Formidable! I would say for Trench, Morph does talk about God though! “Above is blind belief, under is sword to sleeve, and around is scientific miracle. Let’s pick above and see.” But like he was saying in the video, Tyler was experimenting a world without God, but he still is a Christian.

Like Sarah said, Morph mentions God, and Leave the City has some references to Him. Tyler has said that the opening lines are about him struggling with faith. SAI feels completely devoid of a God, not in the way Trench does as an intentional removal of Him with bits and pieces poking through, but more of an outside perspective as if he wasn't even there

@@wiseworksstudio oh you know I didn’t know their earlier music was more godly and so I’ll take a deeper listen to that one , I just listened to “clear” last night while reading lyrics and I was blown away at how he was talking about his father cleaning him if his dirty blood! Wow that’s a very -‘Jesus/dying for our sins’ heavy line ! Amazing

@@wiseworksstudio I really only discovered them two years ago they got me through some very dark times when I needed to hear there anointed music so I started with trench it’s all I knew so I’m well versed in most songs on their albums except the one before regional at best

I have had similar questions. But the place I have landed on the matter is their music is first a help against suicidal thoughts. It’s probable that no matter how they feel on this issue that they want to show support to the fans in that community that they have worth as people. Rather than a statement of support for the lifestyle. If you follow the Joseph family members on Instagram, you will see that Tyler has promoted his dad‘s devotional book that he’s written for their church and is still very connected in the Christian community especially through his family. And this was after concerts to which you are referring. You will also find if you dig that charity organizations. Tyler and Josh are connected with as well as friends they are still close to are based out of their church affiliations. And I could be wrong, Tyler has said that his personal faith does look different than the faith his parents have.

​@@blvrryvhsit's a positive thing to show support for the LGBTQ+ community and the fact they are allies is comforting. Music is for everyone and unites all different kinds of people. You can be religious and still be accepting of gay people.

I don't know if it's him saying he will lose his faith. Leave The City is a multi-layered song that also connects to the idea of su**ide as well as leaving Dema (breaking the cycle of depression). The lyric that confuses me the most is "in time I will leave the city, for now I will stay alive". I don't know which side means what.

Leaving the city is usually seen as a good thing, representing leaving your mental struggles behind. One of these mental struggles is his spiritual battle. When he dies, he’ll leave the city, because your spiritual battles end. You’ll either be in heaven, hell, or you’ll learn neither even exist. “In time I will leave the city. For now I will stay alive.” This battle will end when he dies, but for now he’s staying alive so it continues.

yeah we know. They are a Rock band that deals with mental health and hope. But they do write music occasionally that deals with the emotions of a relationship with God.
