The majority of people who stream, are looking to stream, or are looking to "up their streaming game" tend to always land one thing...2 PC stream setups. This can introduce a lot of audio routing and alerts routing headaches when it comes to how to properly configure a 2 PC stream setup. Its always easier to do a single PC stream setup, but that hasn't always been the case. AMD Ryzen ushered in higher core count consumer CPUs that made this easier than ever, and with Nvidia's Turing generation NVENC that started with all new GPUs from the GTX 1650 Super and up, now most of the encoding load can be handled by the graphics card instead of a second PC. Are there still performance impacts in a single PC setup? Yes. Does it save hassle? Yes. Is it worth it if you aren't a pro, elite level gamer, or making your living off of streaming? YES. 2 PC will never die. You can run a much better quality stream on budget in 2 PC set up while game w/o problem or frame drops. For example building a $178dollar system and below using xeon 2011-3 and get a 1080p 60fps fast-medium preset. Or do record+stream at the same time without problem if you used high core count xeon v3. For single pc stream@budget dual xeon cpu are good 1cpu for gaming and 1 cpu for streaming without frame drops. Dual xeon is useless for dedicated streaming pc but it might not be useless for a stream+recording dedicated PC (doing stream and recording at the same time)

Great video. I just finished a dual pc setup and the quality in my stream is noticeably better! Downside: more keyboard and mouse less desk space and more wire clutter. It’s a trade off. great informative video!

@@Firzj I worked at a call center with 2 PCs, we double tapped F10 or something to swap between controlling one PC or the other.. I still don't know what software that was or how it exactly worked, but I thought I'd mention it!

You can buy a cheap usb device that lets you share your mouse and keyboard with 2 pc. Press 1 button to switch between pc's

I have a 12th gen i5 12600k and a 4080 gpu 48g of ram and I stream with zero problems plus I’m running a triple setup 1440p monitors playing Iracing and I run a 1080p 15 inch monitor to monitor obs

I know a guy who streams at 720p60 fps and he says he can easily push 1080p 60fps but chooses not to. He uses a 9700f and a 2060super and no dropped or skipped frames and maxes out most games he plays.

Using NVENC really helps to do that, especially a turing generation NVENC like the 2060 Super has. 720p60 or 900p60 are the best to go with for Twitch imo. However, yeah...its easy to push 1080p60...whether it looks good or not is a different question. My "don't stream 1080p60" video goes over my thoughts on this really well, linked in description.

tbh if you have a second pc with decent components worth around 500-600 sure 2 pc setup streaming setups are worth it, sure you need to have a capture card but having a 2 pc streaming setup relieves some stress off of your main pc's components, on the other hand, a single pc streaming setup is more convenient, requires less space, no need for a capture card (unless recording/streaming console gaming). tl:dr 2 pc streaming setups are convenient if you already have a 2nd pc, if not then a single pc streaming setup is the way to go

The convenience factor if you already have a 2nd PC is why I have my "Easy 2 PC stream setup" video i mentioned in the vid and linked in the description, and you don't even need a capture card too. The way I liked to do it really alleviates the audio routing issues though, but it sits somewhere in the middle of performance between single PC setup and true 2 PC capture card setup in terms of performance.

Even with my i9, 64GB Ram, 10GB 3080 pc, I can get fps drops when recording at 4k and playing same time on single pc

4k is really hard on a system especially if recording. I would say it doesn't exactly apply here because the topic is streaming and gaming on the same system, which generally does not push 4k local recording and sticks to 720p, 900p, or 1080p stream output. If you want to locally record at high resolution, like 4k, or incredibly high frame rates like 240-360 fps, then the conversation changes a lot.

Hi there. What would u say the best setting will be to stream to twitch using obs. Single PC. 3900x RTX 3080. 32GB Ram. 42mbps upload speed. ( Also twitch affiliate )

Basically my NVENC settings from here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pL5mhLZ20tPRd2w.html But for output (scaled) resolution in the video section, do 1600x900 60 fps

Bitrate the streaming platform hardware and internet speeds can influence your build also if it is wifi or tethered. KZfaq has their own transcoding meaning even if you have a high bitrate your viewers can choose desired resolution twitch only has that for partner and still have a bitrate limitation.. if your streaming on twitch and are not partnered its recommended to go with a dual setup using ndi or teleport if you dont have enough internet speeds go with a dual pc if your playing a high fps shooter on twitch go with a dual pc its not only for e sports its just for twitch you could get away with a single pc on youtube with a high enough bitrate but for twitch dual pc is the way

You should make a video on performance on streaming with a secondary gpu. I have a rx 580 8gb as main gpu with a gtx 950 2gb as secondary gpu to use the nvenc encender. I can stream súper easy in 1080p 60fps with no dropped frames.

It really isn't about no dropped frames but about and system impact on game performance (even with no dropped frames) that a configuration has. NVENC (new) reverts back to old NVENC which isn't as efficient if used in a GPU slot other than the the primary (other than gpu 0 in OBS that is). For someone with a Radeon card but wants NVENC quality, that use case isn't so bad. Though I still advise 900p60 at 6000 kbps bitrate to twitch for fast motion, high fidelity shooter games. Normally a single good gpu for single pc streaming setups is still better.

Is an i9 11900k with a 3080 ftw 3 be enough for a single pc? I have an i7 10700kf with a 2070s and 32 gigs of ram BUT if I can sell it or give it to my son who's on a 1660 3gb I'd rather do that then dual pc and have to wire my goxlr to it and shite

I tried for so long to setup a 2 pc streaming operation and could never get it to work well. Always seemed to stutter on the end stream. Using a xeon 1230 v 2 on the stream pc 250 Mbps up and down. Ethernet showing gig speed. Just couldn’t get my settings right I guess

Whats the specs of your main system? I go over a single PC NVENC setup in one of the vids linked in description that could help you out. Likewise, my Easy 2 PC stream setup vid goes over the same 2 PC setup I used for years that could help you out as well

Gotta make sure your ethernet connections are connected at 1gbps. Its the most important part. A GPU in the 2nd system is also needed since OBS Studio still needs GPU resources. Integrated Graphics wont cut it. Then apply everything else, and it should work.

Any idea on why my audio from gaming PC (game volume) is not coming through on my obs on my streaming PC ? I have them going through the avermedia mini

That's why I don't like 2 PC setups with a capture card. The audio becomes a pain to get correct. In OBS I would set your speaker output as a monitoring device then plug the speaker out from your PC to the line in on the 2nd PC to get audio over there. On the main PC, you'll have to go to advanced audio properties and set desktop audio to monitor and output.

Line in can be tricky. Can also try the mic on port. may want to look up other guides for 2 PC audio routing. I've stayed away from 2 PC capture card setups for that reason so I don't have that much info to offer.

No way are they dead, not if you want max FPS out of your games while streaming/recording. For example, playing Warzone i gained around 40FPS from single system to dual system, although a single system is far simpler to setup.

What have you heard that would lead you to believe that a 3070ti couldn't single PC stream?

@@CoalitionGaming when I was building my PC alot of ppl told me that you have to go dual. Or have "x" amount of vram. In order for your stream to look good. They told me single PC is too much for running the game and streaming. I'm happy I came across your videos !

I wouldn't take advice from those people or youtube channels you got that info from anymore. It takes a much stronger system to effectively single PC stream, but its easily doable with the right parts.

Maybe if you’re streaming very simple to run games. But for call of duty you lose like 40 FPS on a single pc setup even with high end parts. Idk i see what you’re saying but I’ve tried both and I prefer my two PCs

Going from 120ish to 80ish when I had my 2060 Super, using the more intensive cpu encoding, game still played and stream great. Switching to NVENC now with a 3080, still maintains over 100fps even while streaming (main monitor is 1080p 180hz, so I do like my high refresh gaming). Sure there's a bit of a hit but game still plays at high enough fps. Even applies for low end hardware. CPU encoding on a 6 core/12 thread cpu from like 2010 and an RX 470, and the game was still playable. Was pretty surprised honestly lol. See for yourself. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hMCllN19sri6gYE.html But hey, I get someone might prefer the game to run a certain way and will not compromise while streaming because their experience is more important than that of the viewer, so it's a good thing 2 PC stream setups can be done way cheaper and more effectively now than they ever coulda been.
