Hi Phil & Juliet, Our Bailey is a 2014 and I would not dream of changing it. It's perfect for us and honestly I haven't seen anything I prefer.

Hi both. We did consider changing ours but when we saw the prices at the show it soon changed our mind!

Hi Gareth. Yes the prices of New Vans are high. If demand drops then hopefully the price will. Thanks P&J👍🙂

I agree, that if there ain't nothing wrong, then why change it. I run a 2018 Swift Atlantic here in Cape Town, South Africa. I have owned this unit since 2021. Summer and winter get aways and am extremely happy with the van. Its comfy and accommodates the 2 adults and 3 furry kids comfortably.

Hi Thanks for your comment. I am pleased you are happy with your Swift. Yes if ain't broke why fix it!. Nice to know we have some lovely folk watching in South Africa. Please spread the word. Many Thanks Phil & Juliet. 🙂👍

We'll be new to caravaning when we take delivery of a new Elddis next year after going to the NEC in October. Cannot wait to start our new adventures. Love the channel by the way. 😊

Hi Phil & Juliet we are definitely on the same “Pitch” I won’t be changing my van. As you know it’s a 2009 Swift TA with French bed and end bathroom had it from new and I love it. I was smitten with the Unicorn Valencia Black Edition, same layout as mine. I nearly succumbed to her beauty but managed to resist. I don’t envy other people’s vans but I do like to look.
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hi Colin. Hope all is well. You have a lovely van and like ours I know it is well looked after. If it ain't broke why fix (replace it). Thanks P&J👍🙂

HI Phil and Juliet, totally agree with all your comments. We bought our first caravan earlier this year; a 2010 Sprite Musketeer. We wanted something a bit older to see if we would like it without spending a lot of money. So far so good and although I keep looking a other caravans my husband keeps reminding me we are still learning and older means if we make mistakes we can learn from it (first time out we left the handbrake on while using the motor mover! Duh!) Yeah she's old but for now our little Musketeer is our home from home.
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hi Tracey. We fully agree with you and your hubby. You get used to what you have and you adapt to its own quirks etc. There will be plenty of time for you to learn and then and only maybe change it later. Thanks P&J👍🙂
@hywel31436 ай бұрын
Hi Phil and Juliet. I agree that changing a caravan is not something to do on a whim. It's not just the large amount of money involved, but all the new ones we've had have had minor snagging issues or have needed minor modifications to suit us. This takes time and, usually, a couple of trips to the dealer. It always takes us several trips away to find the best way to pack and to get used to a new heating system etc. All of this actually detracts from what we should be doing, which is to take the vehicle for granted and get on with enjoying the experience of seeing new places. Also, there are so many caravans, motorhomes and camper vans out there with significant problems which cause owners stress that if you have a functional unit, probably best to stick with it!
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hello. Yes you are quite right they do take a while to iron out the bugs (flaws). I feel if you get a good one stick with it. I have heard some horror stories from Folk who had a perfect older van who then traded in for the latest only to have the stress and heartache of having to keep sending it in for repairs under warranty. We are more than happy with ours. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Phil & Juliet.👍🙂

Hello. Ours is 3yrs old its a swift same lay out as yours this is the first one we've had with fixed bed and love it. Keith won't change it like he says it's ours its all paid for nothing wrong with her. We like looking but that's it. Xx

Hi Alison & Keith. Hope all is well. Yes like you its all paid for and some😂. I love chatting about them but when it comes to my own i am more than happy with it. Many Thanks P&J👍🙂

We were on the change van every few years merry go round. Then we found the Bessacarr 495 which we had for 10yrs. We have had Desmond coming up for 9yrs. He is getting (soon be 20yr old) on the so we have started looking for another Motorhome that can do us probably until they take a license of me LOL. But it will be at our pace and not because a salesman has a quota to make. Hope you are both well.
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hi David. There will be no merry go rounds here. I wish you good luck finding a replacement for Desmond I know he has been loyal to you both but sometimes we have to face facts, None of us are getting any younger. Good luck with your search. P&J xx🙂👍

If its not broke, don't change it! Our caravan (and first) is 2007 Swift Challenger. Its beginning to look dated. But everything still works. Kids still love it. Would like a caravan with bunk beds but I don't think we need to splash the cash. Thanks for sharing 😂

Right on! I could not agree more. We have no more Grandkids coming so its perfect for us as a couple and once in a while having Alfie with us. He still loves going away with Grandma and Grandad which makes our day. Thanks P&J👍🙂
@noormancrabb64286 ай бұрын
I totally agree with your sentiments. We only changed our caravan last year because one or two faults were appearing including cracks at the rear. It was potentially going to be an expensive repair otherwise we would have kept it. We bought the same model but 7 years newer and traded the old one against it.
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hi. I fully understand why you changed yours, the last thing you need is large bills and all the hassle. I hope you are enjoying your New Van. Thanks P&J🙂👍

I'm with you P & J, If you like the set-up and happy with the layout, tailored upgrades you both put into your van , why change. We love our 2016 Bailey Unicorn Valencia, we havent seen anything out there that comes close to the quality and look of the internal trim. In fact most of the new designs inside caravans now are too sterile and cold inside and to me the quality of build is just Shite. I would rather just look after what I have , best I can and hope the Manufacturers build better more reliable products, not too much that stops us lads tinkering, its the tinkering and upgrading the small things to the van thats the fun , but Ive checked out some of the build standrads in these new vans and at the top of the ranges Swift ,Bailey etc..... they are shockingly poor. Buy New -NO THANK YOU
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hi Murray I do agree they do look a little sterile inside. Oh yes I love to tinker as you say its part of the fun. I am always looking out for the odd little up grade here or modification there. The caravan is the only place I get to have a say😂. Juliet likes the mods that help her out too. Many Thanks P&J. 🙂👍

Hi Phil & Juliet, There’s always something distracting when trying to film 😠. Our caravan will be 11 years old in Feb 24 and we’re not planning on changing just yet. I wish it had more payload as lots of items have to go in the car and I can’t fit any more extras. All the best, Rob & Gail 😀
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hi Rob n Gail. I understand your thoughts. Would you consider a fixed bed van, some have really good payloads plus you would not be making up the bed every evening?. Thanks again P&J🙂👍
@robswiseways56976 ай бұрын
@@lostweekendscaravan Alas a fixed bed model won’t fit in our caravan garage 🫤 but we do appreciate our long benches for daytime lounging 😀

You have the ideal van for you. We have been caught up in the habit of changing our vans every 2 to 5 years but definitely agree that once you adapt and personalise your van, it’s a lot of work to get the same comforts back again. We are keeping Smirf for the foreseeable future for the same reasons 😃🚐👍🏻 Trev n Sue
@lostweekendscaravan6 ай бұрын
Hi Trev n Sue. Loved your videos on Europe. Yes it has taken us 5 years to it how we wanted it and we have had no major issues along the way. I clean it more than my car😂. It just works and that all we ask. Smurf is ideal for you and Sue (plus the Dogs) and if its not costing you any money than its best to hold to it. Thanks P&J🙂👍
