A good idea to just watch the land during the first seasons as there may be something dormant that you will know nothing about until the time is right. You'll wake up one day and see a gorgeous flower come to life and it's such a great feeling!

I like the birds house, nice! "An olive tree can be several thousand years old. The oldest known tree still alive, Oliveira do Mouchão, is dated to 3350 years old and stands in Mouriscas, in central Portugal. At Brijuni in Croatia, there is a tree with a carbon age of 1,600 years that still produces around 30 kilos of olives per year."

@@theexPAWers And Persimmons are one of them. You need the pollen from a male tree to have the female bear fruit. Many fruit trees need more than one variety of tree for cross pollination, or they won't bear (good, edible) fruit. Apples & Pears, for sure need cross pollination... at least 2 different *varieties* of the fruit. You'll have a bit of research to do guys.

My parents loved plants and were constantly stopping on the side of the road, no matter where we were to pick a sampling. You should definitely plant a tree when you go back to represent your new beginning. You’ll always be able to see, ‘that tree is from our first proper trip, from the beginning’, and give the tree a name. I love giving trees names. 🌟♥️🐾

Please think about the spikes/ prickes of cactus plants with your dogs. So happy for you guys with van, land etc. Came across you when you met up with camper vibe, spent months catching up on your back catalogue, decided your now your my favourites to watch. So glad you remembered our van growing herbs conversation. Made me smile. Buy trees in Portugal. Slips are young trees that come bare root in dormant season.So the number of trees officially required to make an orchard is just five. ❤✌🏼🙏🏼

For Dizzee n Charlie's comfort ...you can buy dog cooling gel mats and also can get special ones for the van cab seats from the Cheap shops eg Kmart Also Sirroco 12volt 360° swivel fans brilliant with 3, 6, 9 , 12 hr timer button for you and the dogs....so safe n hands free . Best thing I ever did for my van for comfort.... 🚐 Love watching your progress So inspiring 🌱🪴🌵🌳🪺🤩🤗...cheers 👋

Real plants in your van can help purify the air/help sleep (if it's ever a problem). I like one of the previous comments about planting one tree almost immediately to mark the 'start' of your Portuguese life! Fingers crossed for Velton and *whispering* England 👍

Now i have 35 trees in just 4 years, Grow fast , Lush and Shade galore. They grow well in Desert climates, and i live at 4500ft. elevation, -10F in winter. They hibernate well.

The van looks brilliant very hippy trippy, that's what my mum used to call me, hopefully loads of adventures ahead, we are heading off next week for a couple of weeks just over here but we aren't planning we are just going to drive and stop where we see something nice. Our van is Maggies van an after my mum it was bought with some of the money she left me when she died RIP mum♥️. Love the bird boxes they do all look fine to me you have the holes and everything right as far as I can see they look like the ones we have in the garden I'm always taking photos of plants I find the circle and search thingy really good it's never been wrong when I've used it. Finally the fur babies I just love how much care and thought you have for them, my whole family is like that with animals, they are made to be cherished and they are so much better than kids 😊. I'm Cyprus they use Prickly pear around the borders of the land incase of fire, it slows it down somewhat giving you time to get out or put it out. Really excited to see what you do with the land. 😊❤ x

Just to let you know in Africa we had magnificent avocado trees. Winter started to get a bit chilly towards end of April, May got a bit colder then June was the coldest month, we used to get white frosts and it was very cold at night but it never affected the avocado trees. When they are smaller you can always put a frost protection cover over them

The birds will love the bird boxes don’t forget to drill some small holes in the bottom baby birds have a lot of acid In their urine the holes helps to let it drain 😊

Loving the bird boxes. May I suggest that you may need to protect the wood around the entrance with a metal plate to stop woodpeckers/magpies/squirrels etc breaking in the nest to take the youngsters. Can’t wait to see what the wildlife think about the new homes. Good luck!

Congratulations with your nice van success. For Portugal frosty nights in that area is just 2 or 3 nights 0 to -1 degr is my experience for the last 5 Years and not in one row. Success with the trees and keep it coming.

You can order little clip-on, full-spectrum LED lights. Most vans/RVs don't get enough light for plants, but you can light them individually. Spend a bit more $ and get more, like timers, and phone apps etc.. Real plants all the way!

In my 30s, I lived in So. Cal., next to an avocado grove. It was guacamole all the time. The dog loved it too; but we'd have to fish them out of the pool on occasion....

What a great video. I love the colours of your patchwork cushions and your amazing top. Its important to have a splash of colour in your life. I so hope that your Portugal purchase is a success, you know what I think it already is. You both seem invigorated by it and are making plans for the future with your land in mind. And that is so healthy. I have to admit to visiting the Engwe site and salivating over the Ebikes that they have. Maybe its a man thing but I so love gadgets and especially if its bike related. I love my road bike, because it is amazingly efficient and streamlined but you still have to push those pedals around so you get a good workout. When I'm in the mood in the summer, I usually cycle 60kms Mon to Thursday and then a nice 80km spin on Friday, taking the weekend off for recovery. My brother has an Ebike and joins me sometimes, I always feel that he is cheating but you know what, most of the benefits that I get he also gets but at a lower energy cost. So, I'm seriously considering an Ebike and I love the look of these. They look really well built and sturdy. I like the idea that you can go off-road, with a road bike you are restricted to tarmacked surfaces.
