Thanks for your excellent short ‘real world’ review of the extraordinary little Ami. I thought you summed up both its good points and shortcomings very well. It’s not by any means for everyone, but brilliant for some!

Thank you for your comment. We tried to just show the little car as it is and not sugar coat it like others might do. Yes it’s cool and fun but a car needs more then that. A few more mph’s and it would be for us and many more people. Cheers

@@theburts I agree. I think for people in low or slow traffic areas, it’s inspired! Have you tried the little Smart ForTwo EQ which is very good EV. More expensive, same turning so cool, but great real world performance.

The smart would be cool but if we were to spend that much we would look at getting a car that could seat more. The plan was a cheap 2 seater as most of the time it would only have one of us in it.

Yes, I do see now. Since I made that comment, I too considered the smart for me only to rule that out for exactly the same reasons! Good luck to both of you on your quest. I’m still looking at the Ami very closely. Thank you again for a great review 👍🏻

I'm going for the Ami. I really only need it in town so speed not an issue. For me it is better than a bicycle (with hills in mind). As for crashing that's better than being on a bike. Re Twizzy ... Great for one person. I did look at that. Then I saw how the passenger got in and sat. The Ami is a fun vehicle to drive around town. Just enjoy it. If you have the "long distance vehicle" then the Ami will be great to get to work and back.

It is a great little car and I agree better then being on a bike. It is just not the right car for us. Pity as it was great fun to drive. Enjoy having one though. Thanks for the comment

The councils are bringing the speed limit ,in a lot of towns , down to 20mph so there might be a gap in the market for the Citroen Ami.

Then it might be perfect for a town car but other then that it needs a little more speed to be a better vehicle. That more people would purchase.

I think it would be far safer if these cars could do 30mph actual speed, all you have is cars riding your tail wanting to overtake, I had same issue with kymco moped, 27mph max, even in 30 zones everyone wants to overtake. Off putting having people constantly overtaking, I have now got a fiat 500e. 180 mile range and feels quite quick as 0 to 60 in 9 seconds...

I fully agree they would be so much safer if they can do at least 30mph. When we went on the test drive it was between 4pm and 5pm so the roads were starting to get busy so no one tried to overtake us. But it would have happened sooner or later. The top speed was one of the main reasons for putting us off.

If you're only using it for short journeys on 30mph roads - then going 28mph isn't a problem. Average traffic speed in my conurbation is 11mph - During "rush hour" it's 8mph. Think outside the box.

Then it sounds like a great choice for you. But where we live and the roads that we might have to go on, the Ami will not be right with it only being able to do 28mph. also my 1967 Piaggio ciao can go quicker and thats 50cc.

It's a 'novelty car' once the novelty has worn off & its boring hot with all that glass in summer..then winter with condensation & everything frozen up it will be time to go back to a normal 🚗

I agree and with the speed issue also, you will full out of love with it very quickly.

Just go with the flow of the thing - in the spirit for which it was conceived ... the actual speed it runs at is part of its attraction ... you are wasting your time even looking if you have the opposing mindset .... getting mine v soon submitted my licence details to Citroen this afternoon

That’s a great way to look at it but unfortunately where we live almost all of the speed limits are 30 or more and especially on either my wife or my commute also so not really the best option now unless it can go a bit quicker with a power box. Also have you seen the Citroen Oli that looks like a great car to go for.
