Getting veneers is a great way to boost your self-esteem, improve your appearance and feeling more confident interacting with others. Many patients are excellent candidates for veneers. However, not everyone is eligible for this treatment. There are few exceptions, and in this video, you will discover them.
This video is divided into two parts. 1) First, I will explain who’s the right candidate for dental veneers. 2) Second, I will mention who is "not" a good candidate for this treatment. So, without further ado, let get started...
You are considered a great candidate for veneers, if:
1.1) You're looking to improve your smile: And this is the main condition to get any cosmetic dental treatment done. Because at the end of the day its means you're not satisfied with your existing dentition. In case you need extra dental work, before getting the veneers; in our office, we can help you with any prior treatment required.
1.2)Your teeth are stained: Stain teeth can make you feel insecure and self-conscious about your smile. If you have very stained teeth, and you had tried teeth whitening before without getting decent results. Leave a comment below! Because you are, an excellent candidate to get dental veneers, with them we can make phenomenal changes covering the stains and improving the color, shape and position of your teeth.
1.3)Your teeth are misaligned: Slightly crooked teeth can be fixed with veneers, to make them look straight and more even with better color and shape. However, when your teeth are very crooked, you will need an orthodontic evaluation to determine if you have to wear braces before getting a cosmetic treatment.
1.4)Having gaps or imperfections on your teeth: If you have gaps between your teeth, chipped or broken teeth. A couple of veneers will fix all these aspects, giving you that great smile you have been dreaming.

Now let's talk about who "is not" the most exceptional candidate for veneers!
Initially, veneers weren't suitable for patients who clench or grind their teeth, because this was a high risk for cracking their veneers. But! Now, it's possible getting them if you grind your teeth. How? By choosing stronger & new materials like e-max porcelain or zirconia, and also getting a night-guard to protect veneers right after install them. 2) The next group of patients are not the greatest candidates for veneers due to two reasons:
2.1) 1st, because they will need other procedures before getting veneers.
2.2) 2nd they need other different treatments to combine with veneers to get a beautiful smile. Which means they still can be candidates; they just required more planning and procedures. We can mention in this group patients with cavities, too wide gaps, missing teeth, heavily restored teeth & very crooked teeth. Some of the common procedures they will need could be crowns, root canals, bridges, implants or braces. So let's say for example at the end you will have braces for six months, then seven veneers + 5 crowns + 1 root canal and a bridge. Last but not least, patients that have teeth with serious problems such as severe gum disease, extensive tooth decay or periodontal disease, are not good candidates for veneers. However, with or without veneers, you must know there are plenty of dental procedures to improve your smile. Your dentist will determine if you are the right candidate for veneers. And If it's needed, he or she will discuss with you other treatment options that suit you best. Crowns and bridges can look as nice as veneers when done correctly because their difference is only in their size.
