As a child I remember John Inman on a TV chat show talking about this episode. He said that the scene in the canteen where they were making jokes about Captain Peacock’s boil was the funniest in his career. All their laughing was genuine. Everyone got the giggles. The scene took ages and all the camera men and sound people were also in hysterics. They had to stop filming twice, which was unusual back then. Wendy Richard in particular was beside herself. If you look at the scene, you can see they mean the laughing. 8:28

My sister and I used to watch this on PBS 13 too. It also came on the other NY PBS channels late at night on weekdays. This and Red Dwarf, and a show called the Good neighbors I think.

They played this on UNC public TV for years and years. Now, we haven't seen any of the great British comedies for years. They need to come back.

Harold Bennett, 'Young Mr. Grace,' among other accomplishments, was a *British War Hero* as a horse-courier in World War One. I'd love to see a movie about his life! Come to think of it, I'd love to see a movie or documentary concerning this wonderful show too!

I remember watching this show with my older sister on a little 13 inch black and white tv, when we shared a room. We would nearly bust a gut laughing. Our mother would say to be quiet and go to bed. LoL.

This was my Dads favorite show. We watched it every week. And we weren’t even British. Lol

When I was coming up, my mother and grandmother thought this show was hilarious. Now, I do, too. Second only to All in the Family...my father reminded them of Archie.
