Brian: "I have to talk you all into doing something, something I know we need to do. And I don't know how to talk about it." The Governor killing Hershel destroyed us, we loved him so much, we knew that his death was somehow inevitable, but honestly that really hit where it hurts. On the other hand we will not regret "Brian", he could have had a more brutal death after all he's done but this was as satisfying as it gets on this show. We kind of imagine now that the next part of this season will be following the different groups formed after the prison destruction, hoping that they find each other again. We appreciate guys all your support, so don't forget to hit that subscribe button, it really motivates us to keep up the content. Yeah, this was a tough one, I actually remember watching this episode. I always use my A50 7.1 surround headphones when I watch my shows, they're very loud, & if I talk with them on, well, I TALK REALLY LOUD!! LOL.. My point? When I was watching this episode, with my headphones, I was yelling at the TV, as I often do when I get swept up in the story, or action, etc. But when 'Brian/Philip/Governor/Awful Jackass, with no EYE for art, as seen in the fish tanks...(Hmm, it just occurred to me that Brian really likes tanks of any type!... Fish tanks, Army tanks, his walled community tanked, badly, & most important, when he's upset, or just pissed, which is often, it's, "NO 'TANKS, Hershel, we cannot live with Rick & his people!!!" 🤘🤪🤣👍 I went a long way for that one, hopefully it's not too much of a DAD joke, lol! Anyway, catch ya next time!! ...Oh, I also meant to tell you something,... 'TANKS' FOR MAKING THESE REACTIONS!!! AND 'TANKS' FOR THE MEMORIES!!!🤘🤪LOL! ...Ugh, went too far on that one...should've quit while I was up. Oh well, you know what they say... "THEMS THE TANKS." 🤘🤪🤔🙄😵🤞

I watched the series with my mom and my dad would occasionally join, and he joined us for this episode. We watched it, and for the first time I really empathized with her in the sense of putting myself mentally in that situation and..oh my good it’s so brutal to think about. The absolute helplessness of watching that go down… it really messed me up. I can’t imagine the sheer panic, crippling grief, anger, and just… emotion.

The title of the episode, "Too Far Gone", is mentioned by Rick during his talk with The Governor. Rick believes that they are not "too far gone" to come back from the things they have done. This sentence was said to Rick before by Hershel. And at the end of the episode a walker is seen walking over a 'King' chess piece that Meghan had drawn the eyepatch on. This signifies The Governor's death as he had lost the battle and typically in chess when you lose or forfeit you knock over your king piece.

i absolutely lovee how at the beginning hershel says to the govenor that they can live together, and rick later echoes that, hershels smile at rick is so sweet he was such a good mentor for rick and taught him that they can be better - hershel had amazing character development, going from a denying the apocalypse and caring only for his family, to putting his safety on the line for the rest of the community and being one of the leaders, as much as i wanted him to live forever im glad he died here as his character was kinda complete and his death was soo impactful

It’s a bit harsh calling Rick spineless you could tell Rick was doing the right thing by the little smile on Hershel’s face when he was trying to talk to the governor, and Rick got shot in the leg I think before his fight with the governor which probably played a part in him losing the fight.

Great reaction guys. Just a little detail in case you missed it when you watched the episode... @imcrystalclear3448

Rick wasn't being spineless. The reason Herschel was smiling proudly at Rick's words to the Governor was because Rick was using reason the way Herschel had been telling him to. Rick's words were almost exactly what Herschel said ("we get to come back") to him in 4x01 after Rick told him about the woman in the woods.

An amazing episode and reaction! This part of the comics is one of the best arcs in the whole series. In the comics, the Governor actually captures Tyreese and beheads him in front of everyone. Not only does he die during his attack so does Axel, Patricia (Otis’s GF), Hershel and his son, Lori AND Judith went Lily shot her from behind. Lily gets mad at the Governor for making her shoot them and then instantly shoots him and throws him to the walkers. It’s a very emotional and heartbreaking arc that had a lot of fans upset.

I'm so glad Rob talks about context because it's 100% true and the show explores that more down the road. It's easy for us to side with our heroes because we know their story, we know their struggle, it's intimate, but that doesn't mean they're always the good guys in every situation. It's great food for thought that goes over the heads of the average viewer.

Comic Comparisons : in the comics It’s Tyreese who gets decapitated his comic counterpart is actually introduced much earlier than in the show before they get to the farm the battle for the prison goes down a bit different The Governor is presumed dead for a while before he randomly shows up at the prison gates It should be noted that the Governor never kills all of his people or burns down Woodbury so he still had an army with him him becoming Brian Heriot is completely unique to the show I can’t remember exactly but I think their first attack failed Nonetheless they eventually bust through and kill a lot of people Hershel does die in this battle in the comics but not in the same way He begs to be killed after his son is shot right in front of him and the Governor grants him that Rick tries to escape with Lori and Judith but Lori who is carrying Judith is shot and falls to the ground killing both her and the baby after the Governor successfully wins the prison Lily who was already a member of Woodbury and dealt the killing shot on Lori realizes she also killed a baby and gets mad at the Governor when the Governor shows no remorse she shoots him dead in the head after that nothing more is said about the Woodbury group.

The second half is gonna be an emotional trip ;). Atleast the Governor has finally bitten the dust. Although in a way he has kind of won in the end. I’m still a bit pissed though that he mentioned Andrea but there was no mention of Merle :(. And you are correct: The 1 zombie that walks into the prison is actually the woman Rick tried to help in episode 1.

Been waiting for this one for awhile, very happy it came out on my birthday! The tank, the final shot, even the dialouge from that shot is all from the comic. To some extent the Governors death is too, though he's shot by a woman called Lily in the books, a character whose backstory was filled out by novels. Also in the comic, spoilers for anyone who wants to read it (but I warn you, its rough at times) - - - - - - this is where Lori dies in the comic. Her and Judith are killed her, with Lori being shot though Judith. Its brutal, though Lily, the woman who kills them both and no idea who shes aiming at and when she finds out shes incredibly pissed, to the point of killing the Govenor. Its a brutal ending to Lori, though her ending in season 3 is also pretty brutal, just in a different way. Its also real brutal for Judith. Loving the reactions, looking forward to the second half of the season, its a highlight of the whole show for me. Extra note: Hershals death in the comics is kind of Axels death I guess? hes shot in the yard, also someone else gets Hersehls death in the comics but don't really want to say who until some time later.

I love how this episode is soooo intense, massive character deaths and things happening and yet Rob is still smiling when a walker attacks Daryl and is like “we know he’ll be fine”. Lol that’s just how badass Daryl is. Even the show runners themselves can’t kill him and we know it. 😂 Gimple would be writing in the death and Daryl would pop up with his crossbow or some shit in the writing room. 😂

Another great reaction video. This episode, while devastating, it pays dividends. In time you will see. Hershel had a profound affect on people. And you will continue to see this play out over time. These people carry Hershel and his wisdom, and his sensibilities forward. Look forward to the next few episodes. That's all I can say. See you on Sunday! 👍

The title of this episode says it all. No winners here -- stalemate. According to David Morrissey, each actor receives one script at a time. Nobody knows what will happen in the next episode! When it's your time to die, they tell you ahead of time so that you can prepare yourself. When it's over, the showruners and cast treat you to dinner!

Now it's time to follow more wonderful reactions, because you throw all the emotion and also exhibit sensitivity and logical thinking in the comments. I've watched this series twice, I cried in this episode the first time I saw it, but the second time I really realized how important Herschel was in this group, in the chaos of the zombie apocalypse, how much he brought values to his daughters and also for Rick in building a new world that thinks of the past world. The appreciation of life, of the family, of building a strong community that would bring together those who wanted to fit in there. All of this Rick absorbed from Herschel. This episode only confirms the narrative that the series has brought with the governor in most episodes in which he appears, the dissimulation and persuasion, how a horrible person can be cute when he wants to, or even have feelings like every human being, but his essence is malevolent, therefore, so are your intentions. They usually don't change. He's a great villain. And Rick's line trying to find a point of consensus, but knowing he had a huge chance of not getting agreement (his voice and expressions said so) is brightened by the interpretation of the great Andrew Lincoln. And Herschel's proud smile before the beheading😭😭. In fact, Rick's heroism is put aside to give Michonne her turn in the final attack, in addition to putting him in the position of an ordinary man, who, regardless of his skills and leadership, can't be a man of steel. Perfect.

Hershel softened Rick. He has now left. There is no longer a voice of reason. To the mother and daughter. I mean the little one plays in the sandbox so to speak (what else is she supposed to do?) and the mother is on a viewpoint to keep an eye on everything. Which she did. She saw a walker in the water. And show me the mother who shoots at her daughter from a distance when there is a zombie right behind her. The daughter was between mother and zombie. No one even shoots in the direction of their own child. In addition, in a state of excitement and full of adrenaline.
