Is August too soon to start making Christmas cards? I used one non-Christmas die to get 4 different looks!

I like making some of my Christmas cards in July to get a jump start since summer doesn't have card holidays😊 Then, I make the rest in fall once my Halloween and Thanksgiving cards are finished❣

Our family has a lot of summer birthdays. We always have reasons to make cards, all year, here. Sometimes, just to say Hi!, thinking of you, etc. But, yes, summer may be a good time to start Christmas cards, too.

The die is fantastic and the inlay really makes the cards works of art. The one with the black background is a definite WOW!!. Thank you, Ardyth for this tutorial. The more I make and watch cards made, the more I like to see a use for everything. Even blended inks left on the work surface. No waste, more product, happier planet. 💖🇨🇦

Agree, with most viewers it's never to early to make Christmas cards. I seriously start in July/August but make a few Christmas cards throughout the year. It depends on the die, stamp or stencil, love to experiment with what I have.

I start making mine in June. This year, because of the pandemic, I mailed out “Christmas in July” cards to brighten the day for the recipients. Everyone was surprised and loved them. I so enjoy writing...I always run out of space before I run out of words! I also buy the happiest postage stamps I can find. The staff at my Post Office start bringing out their stamp designs when they see me coming.

Ardyth Percy-Robb I’m trying to build a variety of dies , found the one you used on AliExpress 🙂, most everything I have is holiday themed. This is the third new craft in about 5 years,I guess I don’t have a very long attention span🤷‍♀️😉 ,
@ardyth
@ardyth 4 жыл бұрын
@@lindafrier26 Love your enthusiasm (and completely identify with the short attention span!) , but please be aware that often designs (stamps and dies) on AliExpress are stolen from small businesses in other parts of the world. They have lower prices because they do not do the work themselves and often use inferior materials to make the product. I know that PinkFresh Studios would appreciate the business if you can shop there directly!
@lindafrier26
@lindafrier26 4 жыл бұрын
Ardyth Percy-Robb If these don’t work I will try the small businesses. I don’t really like buying from AliExpress but right now it’s what I can afford.🙂

I always appreciate multiple cards made with one set of supplies. Most of us have such a large inventory after doing this craft for a number of years, and it is wonderful to be able to make cards, especially Christmas cards with a minimum of supplies! Thank you for all your great ideas and techniques!

I have this plate and hated it ever since I got it. Now that I’ve seen this video, I’m going to revisit it and see if I will learn to like it. 😊txs

OMG,this comment made me giggle. If you hate it I'm surprised you kept it. But I also think it's great that you want to give it another try. If you're having trouble with it cutting properly, try positioning it on your cutting plate on a bit of a tilt so one corner of the die goes in first. That often makes a difference. I hope you end up enjoying it! And thank you so much for watching!

😂🤣😂🤣 I didn’t join Christmas in July, but I DID pull out all my fall, winter and holiday papers yesterday. 😃 I was wondering the same thing.💙 Thanks for the trick about folding card stock to get multiple layers BEFORE die cut. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂
@ardyth
@ardyth 4 жыл бұрын
Oh, that's a good hack that I got from another cardmaking friend. Just don't use cardstock that is too thick. I find 80lb is about the max before the edges of the dies cuts are less clean. But if I do that twice, I get 4 layers of 80lb cardstock for my die cut and it's nice and sturdy! Thanks for dropping by!
