Thanks April. For a Steelhead beginner as I am, this video is just what I need.

Appeciate your valuable input and several comments that make me think about how many times and fish I've probably missed! Going to put several things you mentioned into effect and see what improvements I can make. My biggest challenge now is living in western Washington which is in a horrible state, I'll leave it at that! Enjoyed your videos and now knowledge you've shared lately to help us carry on as good stewards and knowledgable anglers, thanks April!

Streamer fishing for Steelhead can be way better than Swinging. Using big Wolly Buggers or other big streamers, night time can be very good also. Keep a open mind, they are a sea trout and will attack in pitch dark at night and the river is all yours, no boats spooking the fish.. Surace lures are also good on dry line.

I'd like to know why a fish that goes to the ocean 2to4 years then returns is not good for the river ! How do ppl know if a hatchery mated with a wild and made a inferior fish !

I have hard time killing fish. 😢Came to Canada from war torn country. I have PTSD I just can’t do it. I am lucky when someone is nearby or my friends are around me. They step in to kill hatchery fish and keep it. When I am alone I release it, knowing very well I am damaging wild gene. When is wild I release it trying not to touch it.

Sorry you have PTSD, but spare us the sad story. We fish to be happy. You should find something that makes you happy too. Take your sadness elsewhere!
