Full Compilation: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdx0msV61Kionnk.html Per Jan Bruun / Hypertonia World Enterprises: “Btw here are more tracks by Anton Balsam of Åreknuteknyterne. The "Untitled" track was improvised in a rehearsal room, he is playing keyboards at the same time as guitar, by pressing keys down with the head of the guitar, so no multitracking or overdubs, all live. www.youtube.com/@balsamia Cover: “The Third Generation” by RW Fassbinder

This reminds me of walking home from school at night in the winter, it's just rained and the streetlamps cast an orange-yellow hue, eerie but entrancing, over the dark, empty street. And at one point, about halfway through the mile home, I am truly alone, with nothing but the noise in my head. I am nothing, I am everything. I am the glittering pavement, the little clouds of fog every time I exhale, I am the occasional roar of a car passing by. I start to run downhill, the cold stiffening my face like rigor mortis, like a death mask, into the first in an eternity kind of uncontrollable grin, the first since the depression came back, I am laughing to an audience of asphalt and trees. The noise in my head is quiet. I am back in the beauty of the world, and the walk home.

The striking cover art, the unexpected music genre, the fact the song is untitled, the bizarre musician’s handle, the fact this song is almost 40 years old, and the fact this video only has 50k views. All of this culminates in such a unique listening experience! I’m really wondering now what went through the head of the person/people behind this hidden gem when creating it.

Come on now, don't be a downer. It's bad for you. I don't think the artist was trying to prove anything to anyone here. Cool track for sure, but what 80s did these other commenters experience to have multiple comments saying its "ahead of it's time". Are these people too young to remember this almost exact guitar tone/style and synth combo on myriad 80s records, TV shows & films? It fits right in its time perfectly! This is an entire 80s blast from the past vibe. I can't imagine it coming from any other time unless modern people trying to sound "retro" or "old school".
@dot23X
@dot23X 19 күн бұрын
Agree it’s very reminiscent of a lot of 80s movie soundtracks - probably from a scene where a tough emotionally stunted cop drives around a ghetto wearing a suede jacket shaking down prostitues and pimps looking for his estranged daughter who’s been lured into a life of vice. it’s hardly original even for its own time; considering the early 80s was the time of Coil, flux of pink Indians, DAF, ministry and a host of amazing new wave artists from europe, I think we can safely say this is mediocre.

Norwegian here, if anyone wonders what the band name means, it is "Varicose veins tiers"! Not sure how to exactly translate this, but "Åreknute" means "varicose veins" (or simply "varicoses") and "knyterne" means "the tiers" as in someone tying something. So these dudes tie varicose veins!

Nice track. The internet really has leveled the playing field. I rememb3er in the 90s arguing with my friends about music. They were firmly in the camp that the record companies signed the greatest musicians around and had the best so unknowns were a waste. I always said they signed people they could package and market to specific demographics and keep them similar enough to draw people into the genres they wanted to make popular. The greatest song ever made may well be sitting on a hard drive of an insecure loner who will never let anyone hear it. Now that you don't need to be a mega-corporation and anyone can release music, all this stuff that was ignored in its time is developing a very loyal following. Been on a Delicate Steve kick lately (check him out if you are unfamiliar. really good guitar tracks. Not like this, but most people that like this would probably like some of his stuff. he has some amazing guitar work on some of his stuff. He plays guitar essentially as a vocal track on many tracks
