Defiler of Vigor IS a messed up card. Mono-green worked pretty well for me in this cube and a lot of it was because of the Defiler

So I'm new to magic what's a cube draft and how is it different to a normal draft?

Cube draft doesn't use a standard set - it's a singleton curated list of cards pre-made by (in this case) Wizards. So there's 450 or so cards, only one of each, randomly put into packs of 15 and then drafted normally.

wait, did arena fix their economy problems with the wildcards? the reason i haven't played since the beta was how it was impossible to build decks without buying copious amounts of packs.

It’s gotten better but IDK if you think it’s “fixed”.

It was always fine. You made one to three decks easy for free and then you had to buy packs Now its even more generous as every 10 packs you get like 5 extra wildcards

I would absolutely love to do play in cube, BUT it’s a Phantom Draft. So, it’s not worth it for a poor man like me.

If you can hit 5 wins, any BO1 draft is free. If not, you get a partial refund. Less at stake in the phantom draft, too, since it’s cheaper. Play what’s fun is my take on it.
