Got to see Waylon years ago back in 1978 he came to Hazard Kentucky to do a concert for their annual Black Gold festival, they also had most of the actor's from the Duke's of Hazzard show to appear at the festival, it was during this time that the Duke's of Hazzard had their highest ratings, The concert Waylon did there brought in a record crowd, people came from other States to see Waylon, I was only 16 at the time and it was definitely the biggest thing I had ever seen, Waylon was one of a kind, he was just as simple and down to earth as a country boy could be, Waylon's act was natural he didn't have to pretend to be something that he wasn't, I've seen other country musicians try to copy the image that Waylon had, and even though they try they can't even come close to being the entertainer that Waylon was, he didn't have to try it came natural to him and that's just one of the things that make him a true legend, Never could toe the mark and I never could walk the line, Yeah🎸🎸

There's a real honesty to Waylon's music. He wrote about his life and didn't hide the mistakes, it's all there. He had a great sense of humor, he really didn't seem to be nervous about performing. Very natural, and a huge amount of music. I keep finding great songs that weren't hits, but could've been. His covers of vintage country songs were the best renditions I've heard. Ramshackle Shack/Sparkling Eyes, Big Mamou, and Big Ball in Cowtown are just fun to listen to, thanks not only to Waylon's style, but Ralph Mooney's scorching lap steel. Miss both of them, great musicians.

@@loadi2865 What are you talking about - you got a group of polished, very talented, and seasoned musicians, between them must have thousands of hours of session work under their belt - they played exactly the way they should to back up a singer like Waylon - they laid down a solid rhythm, tight and uncluttered, allowing Waylon's singing and Robbie's playing to shine by not getting in their way. "that was no Moon by a long shot" True. There is no one that can do Ralph Mooney like Ralph Mooney. He influenced a lot of pedal steel players, no doubt, but no one else can sound like "that". Now Robbie Turner is not trying to "be" the Moon. Like Mooney, he developed his OWN style of playing UNIQUE to him. There is no one that can do Robbie Turner like Robbie Turner. Equally talented and skilled - different "signature"
