That Sister from the Sounds of Blackness sounded just like Aretha on "Young, Gifted & Black!" Those who criticized Jordin Sparks performance of "Respect" need to realize Aretha covered Otis Redding's original and I feel Jordin did a fairly decent job! Who would you suggest sing the song tributing Aretha - J-Lo? There are other singers besides Beyonce and Mary J Blige who can cover an Aretha song! And I must give it to Aretha, despite her weight challenges, was as graceful and appreciative as ever!

See that's the thing about you people, there is always a comparison to the original. There is a reason why they call it tribute because there is only one in that class, which is #ArethaFranklin. So people are chosen to pay homage to her in their own right 👉, it is never good to sing like an artist but just present their songs in a manner of recognition. So please stop comparing and congratulate them all, they will all make their mark in this world 🌍

Aretha @ 5:25 lol 😂 I LOVE HER! If you haven't seen her Biopic, it explains a lot to why she don't be LOVING tributes really lol. Dinah Washington went off on Aretha for trying to tribute her in front of Dinah herself. Said something along the lines of "BITCH! You tryna replace me? Tryna sing the queen song in front of the queen!"
@ceds.95922 жыл бұрын
Haha, I get what you’re saying, but that actually didn’t happen to Aretha Franklin, it happened to Etta James. I think they took that story to fill the movie in, but that outburst didn’t happen to the Queen, it happened to Etta.

That girl singing Young, Gifted and Black doesn't come close to Aretha's version. After listening to Aretha's version, it's sad to say she does sound pretty bad. I've noticed when other singers try to sing Aretha's songs it's glaringly obvious Aretha's skill and talent puts most of them to shame. Nina Simone was the first person to sing that song and she was one of the very few who could hold a candle to Aretha.
@achosenvessel65635 жыл бұрын
joeb267382: Very true....she should not have been chosen for that song.
