Aretha doesn't have to stand up for anyone. She has paid dues, period point blank. A Queen never leaves her throne she sat there, smiled and clapped. It seemed to me as if she enjoyed Fantasia's performance. LOOK closely, the camera panned in & out after the performance she had a HUGE smile on her face. Fantasia is fantastic but she's no Aretha Franklin. If you know Aretha from back in the day and throughout her career she was never the loud screaming type running across the stage (she left that to Tina Tuner). Her style was very much like Jennifer Hudson. Like Jennifer she had a voice and didn't need the theatrics. If anyone should play Aretha, my vote would go to Jennifer because she's got the voice, the looks and the attitude of the Queen of Soul.

***** You are entitled to your opinions...but I still think Fantasia would do an excellent job! I heard Aretha back in the days before auto tunes and ReRe used to scream on some of her songs too! And for as looks, ReRe is not "Halle Berry," whom she wanted to be cast in the bio...lmao! Really! Halle played Dorothy Dandridge and she embodied the late singer and actress to the fullest. Not only is Fanny a dynamic singer and actress, but a beautiful woman of color. I like my girl Jennifer but maybe she needs some "theatrics" in her performances, because she is boring compared to her contemporaries. Fantasia is a versatile singer and can sing circles around the best of the best.

Anh Kiệt Nguyễn I have been following Aretha Franklin's career a long time and I have never seen her dance across the stage. With a voice like her's, why would she? That is why Fantasia would not be a good choice for this project, but I could see her playing Patti LaBelle, and Beyonce doing a Tina Turner movie. I don't think Aretha is jealous of Fantasia. She likes Fantasia. For those who think Aretha should have been jumping up and down to show her appreciation of Fantasia's performance must not be familiar with The Queen. Aretha is very laid back and reserved...has always conducted herself that way in public. Some of ya'll taking this personal and don't know either one of them..lol. Aretha is a Legend and has been in the business over 50 years. She doesn't have to act out of character to prove something to strangers.

Aretha requested that Fantasia perform at her tribute plus when asked who she would want to protray her if there were a movie made about her life Aretha answered "Fantasia". Aretha does respect Fantasia and her talent. I have no idea why she didn't stand but it wasn't because of disrespect. And yes Fantasia killed it. Check out her new songs from her new album "Definition of...." Best album yet! Her video "Sleeping With the One I Love" is on youtube, it's a masterpiece.

Robin Jordan-Henry Nope. During an interview on the Wendy Williams, when asked about her biopic, Aretha said wanted Halle berry to play her. Halle Berry did decline the offer, and then Aretha shaded her after hearing that.

SHe is way better than most singers out there...REAL talent great distinguishable voice...been a staunch fan since American Idol....just sad that she truly hasnt achieved the heights she deseves...go girl!
