I've never seen any review of this match that includes fouls made against Maradona inside germans penalty area. If I am not mistaken they dropped Maradona 2 or 3 times inside penalty area, by the end of the match, they were clear penalties, but referre didn't react at all. Where is that episode, why nobody shows it ?

It is a mystery which remained till today, why the penalty was awarded.

This was the most one sided final in World Cup history with one way traffic - West Germany attacking and Argentina defending for dear life (by hook or by crook) over the entire duration of the match. In fact, I don’t remember Argentina registering even a single shot at goal over 90+ minutes, even when down 1-0 late in the second half. That said, the Germans were uncharacteristically abysmal with their finishing, peppering the Argentine goal with shots, most of which lacked any serious accuracy or quality - a strange turn of events considering their superlative attacking performances in the earlier rounds of the tournament. Footballing justice was done when the Germans finally broke the deadlock- albeit from a highly controversial penalty awarded by a less than adequate referee given the gravity of the occasion - the final of a World Cup. And sadly, the only moment of real quality was Andreas Brehme’s expertly dispatched penalty, a hugely disappointing outcome given the world class talent at hand, particularly within the German ranks. And as for Argentina, Maradona was invisible, contributing only with petulant fouls, play acting and crybaby gestures which somewhat diminished his overall legacy as a footballer…

But people want to see the FIFA final match (which takes place after every four years) impartially. In the 1990 FIFA, many player were kicked badly near the balcony of the goal post( if you don't believe me, see for yourself all the quarter finals, and semi finals). In such kicks, not a single referee has ever given a penalty for it. And here, Edgardo Codessal Mendeze, the referee who controlled the final, immediately gave a penalty in the 85th minute of the game. Was this FIFA politics, or Edgardo Codessal Mendeze took a wrong pill in his dress up room before entering the stadium????😊
