The charismatic former first lady of Argentina, Eva Peron, was born 100 years ago. Many know her as just Evita.
Remembered for being a champion of women's rights and the poor, her memory lives on in musicals, films and art.
Al Jazeera's Daniel Schweimler reports from Buenos Aires on the tributes marking the special occasion.

I am from Argentina and I know the life of Evita and she was against feminism and against abortion, it was her greatest interest to protect and serve families.

C B I’m not from Argentina. What I do see is she was doing something others in power today have forgotten. She appeared to be trying to help the people. I was reading about her some 40+ years ago . She had accomplished more in five years than most governments do in 100 years.

Evita was a great woman with a big heart and a huge sense for social justice. Peron was a great leader. The Problem in Argentina is not the Justiclista Party ( Peron wanted to call the party as Labour Party or Socialist Party based from the British Labour Party, as Socialism was associated to Communism the party was called Justicialista "Justice" ). The problem in Argentina is the political Opposition to the Justicialista Party. The political opposition divides and helps to destroy any Justicialista Government in power . Justicialista governments always brought prosperity to Argentina. The Opposition is the problem which creates the corruption in the country and poverty. The warmonger of Winston Churchill helped in the "cup de eta" against President Peron in 1955. An example of opposition to the Justicialismo was the Mauricio Macri's government an incredible corrupt government where its economical policies increased the poverty from 4% to 45% in just four years of government.

Sorry, but it is Peron-inspired Kirchnerism that destroyed and continues to destroy the Venezuelan economy. Macri's sole term in office was not nearly enough to undo the economic desolation Kirchner created (and continues to create under her puppet). When I was last in Argentina, the dollar was worth 17 pesos, and that was only five years ago. Today, it is 165 pesos (or about DOUBLE THAT on the Blue Dollar market). Going back even further, since the Ks took power, the currency has lost over 98% of its value. The only Latin American leader who's done worse is their good friend Nicolas Maduro, and their ideological path is virtually identical to his. But don't worry; in another five years, they'll give you a motorcycle and an AK so that you can shoot your own people when they protest, in exchange for not having to scavenge dumpsters for food like the rest of your countrymen. That's where the road you're headed down leads. Wake up. Jesus Christ.

Because of her humble origins, her mother was a maid and her father already had a wife and another family. In those days it was common for men to have an official family and an illegitimate one. Even though he was wealthy he abandoned them and left them to live in poverty. People in the highest social circles looked down on her because of her origins and previous career as an actress.

Imelda Marcos First Lady of the Philippines before was always compared to Evita Peron...Imelda is so beautiful inside and out...As a First Lady...she was very nurturing and caring to the Filipino people. She was so efficient and hardworking First Lady...generous...kind and compassionate...She had always solutions to problems...She spearheaded the planting of vegetables...trees...and medicinal plants....She was always accused of her jewelries and shoes. But 80 percent of her jewelries were just given to her by heads of states as token or gifts...They were sued to court almost 1000 cases accusing them of plunder but all were acquitted...They did not steal even a single centavo from taxpayers....Now Imelda Marcos is already 92 years old...still beautiful.....Regarding black propaganda...smear campaign...defamation...character assassination ....she always says...there is Divine justice........
