As a Colombian it will be a tough South American style game. I just hope the referees dont influence negatively and call the game fairly for both. Wishing my fellow countrymen the best of luck. If they play with a sense of purpose, no overconfidence yet confidently within their strengths, play smart yet take their chances then they have a good chance as any to beat the World Champs. A real contrast in styles. Argentina have an amazing record in major tournaments esp the last two, but Colombia will be tough. They’ve been the team to watch at Copa, but am backing Argentina with their experience and it being Di Maria’s last game and possibly even Messi’s.

I am Colombian, and I am not sure who will win. Argentina gets to be favorite for sure, but people will be surprised how close in quality Colombia is.. I would say Colombia is more physical, and there are a few underrated players that are off the international scene radar, so It will be closer than expected, may the best win, but for sure,,, it would not be surprising to me if Colombia wins... even convincingly.

that is actually the problem.. you see the referees are way to lenient in most matches (with or without colombia and argentina)... There are several colombian players that should had been red carded. I can promise you that this style of football will not work in the WC or in europe.

Colombia's defense is the only defense that can stop Argentina in this tournament, a defense coached by the experience and determination of Amaranto Perea. In attack, for Colombia is all about set pieces and long balls Cordoba can settle for Lucho and James to take advantage of. For Argentina it's all about runs in between lines just like Darwin did on Wednesday. It's going to be such a tough game for both.

I think the mentality that Nestor Lorenzo has inserted into the Colombian player's mind is one of "Do not think about who the rival is, what they have done, but what we can do and what he have done so far" That's why they were able to win against Germany 2-0 so early in the run, and later Spain and Brazil, and now Uruguay. This team is fearless, so I believe your argument is solely based on a hypothetical, thinking Colombia will step into the field thinking about Argentina beating them 2 years ago, when it is clear they haven't looked back a single time, only forward.

Yes, Argentina was the last team to beat Colombia.. but you need to not only watch that game, but also what happened to colombia in the las few games of the world cup qualifier, plus the terrible coach Colombia had, to at least not make that game a reference point for this game. In most other copa amarica games the two teams have been very evenly matched.. and this time Colombia is even better than any of the times they played argentina in the past... ah..and Messi is not quite in his top form.. but still dangerous.

Refs are pushed to be biased and favor not only Argentina but they scheme and plot who they want to see win especially in a tournament like this. They plotted for an Argentina v Uruguay final in Miami (Messi) with a win for Argentina. Colombia defied the odds and their plot was foiled. You’ll see some egregious bias tomorrow against Colombia.

The only reason he’d pick the MLS over La Liga is if he doesn’t think he can cut it at the elite level any more or on a consistent basis and take the easy option. I see oppositely what you see. Argentina is a very solid team. They got experience. They play as a whole team. They take care of each other in games. Argentina players are all high technical skills. The panelists don't know Miami.....for the last 20 years Argentinians have been moving into Miami area. It will practically be a home game for Messi and Co. Argentina played the tougher road to Final (team rankings of opponents and has more experinced players who play in Best Euro Teams). Goalie advantage? Argentina. These two same teams played each other last Copa and Argentina won. Expect the same.

Do you even live in South FL? You can't be serious if you do. Colombians are in every single neighborhood. Argentinians barely occupy some specific neighborhoods and they don't even make the majority in a single one. As much migration as the country has had, and as much passion and fans as Messi will bring to the stadium, Colombia will be playing as locals. Same as it's been on every other game they've had throughout the tournament.

James' international performance is not a rare occurance, when he is given the spotlight at a club level he always delivers, the problem is being a number 10 (A position going extinct in the modern game) only a few coaches have the nerve to trust him to take that spotlight. Carlo Ancelotti has been the only club manager to take that risk, under him both in Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Everton he played 77 games, scored 24 goals and had 27 assists, similar numbers to when he plays with Colombia, having 105 games and 28 goals. Numbers don't lie.

Shaqiri showed at the Euro’s he can still cut it when needed, but he’s obviously gone to the MLS to top up his pension and get away with not having to be playing at his best in every game. If he was he would still score pretty much in every game. He probably thinks 15/20 minutes a game is enough at this stage of his career. No one goes to the MLS to prove a point or to play at their best in every game. Just give fleeting glimpses of what they’re capable of when really trying.

@@frazer4737Young MLS players can still learn a lot just from training with guys like Shaqiri and others who’ve made thrir names playing at elite level in Europe. He’ll be showing them things they’ve never seen from US players or coaches.

@@daydreamknight1690 MLS is one of the few remaining leagues where a number 10 is still valued. It's no coincidence that most of the recent MVPs have been 10s. I could see James adding a lot of value to an MLS club that needs a veteran international playmaker to go along with all their youngsters or replace a 10 who has departed. For instance, I could see Atlanta, Charlotte, Minnesota, or Seattle all benefiting from bringing him in.

It's not that Messi isn't fit. He is old, and playing in a pensioneer league for top players now. So this is his level. He can still thread a genius pass or make a top bins strike. He doesn't offer a lot though.

Agreed, but being Di Maria’s last game for Argentina and possibly even his I think they’ll give it everything which could be enough to just edge it. It will be easily their toughest test at this Copa where Colombia have been the best overall, but the experience of winning finals in recent years just puts Argentina ahead for me. They have the more proven big game players. Colombia also used up a lot of energy against Uruguay, both physically and emotionally at the end with a day less to recover. Could be a factor.
