I wish they explained that. I'm guessing that was in her mind. Like she saw a hero. A James Bond type.

If I recall correctly she is an author and her main character is a spy. The flicking between the two is her imagination kicking in sometimes making the real spy appear as her fictional character with interludes of reality.

Always baffles me how these people get paid millions and manage to pump out utter garbage. How do grown ass adults think these were good ideas?

Good story tellers have a tenuous connection with objective reality. People with a strong connection with objective reality can't makeup/tell a story. Sorry, you can't have it both ways.
