I'm sorry for your loss. My parents and I too loved the British Airways ad... they are gone too.😞 We loved it also because being French, we knew the song long before it was so beautifully redone. It is "The Flower Duet" by French composer Delibes. Be safe!

@@abelis644 Thank you 🙏🌹, for your reply Reading it this morning made me so happy , I’m sorry for your loss too it’s hard when we lose a parent or parents 😞, Yes The Flower Duet which my Dad and I Equally fell in love with it’s probably “the most Beautiful piece of music “ and I would search out any Albums that included this and buy for my Dad . This was my chosen piece for him at his funeral ( one day mine hopefully not yet ) I never tire of hearing it , it takes me to a feeling of peace , when I’m listening I’ll now think of you Abelis and wish you all the love and Happiness, How lovely to be connected through a song 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 love to you , Sarah 🥀🥀🥀

Sarah, your father had great taste. Like you, i also have fond memories of this beautiful piece of music together with my dad. I've actually been in Charles Saatchi's London house, this was in the year 2000, he had Michelangelo's David's head in his dinning room, pretty bloody impressive. For a terrace house, it was massive, little did he know of my visit, a Swedish au-pair gave me a guided tour of the whole house, very trusting, we met in a bar in Piccadilly. It was a fantastic experience and memory You take care, peace, love and blessings.

Here's a little more: Malcolm McLearn didn't create this music. (Sorry) Nor did Yanni. It's origins reside in the opera Lakmé by Leo Delibes; The Flower Duet (1881-1882).

Could they possibly be crediting McLearn as the arranger? You are most definitely right about the composer and the opera of this most beautiful music.
@jackyu11433 жыл бұрын
Yes, the original, very slow music came from the French opera Lakme. The modern, fast-tempo version was created by Malcolm McLearn and used for the British Airways advert.

Very interesting to see where the original music originated . I never thought much of mclaren. He just sped it up ! However this is my favourite ever airline commercial with Tom conti doing great voice over .. along with Cathay - love’s theme by Barry white .

After a crappy week at work I was reminded of this music as it was used on Romesh Raganathans Misadventures TV series. It reminded me of the wonderful BA advert from 1989 with the walking lips and winking eye ;-) Then I found your video and it reminded me of our honeymoon in Tahiti (Moorea, Bora Bora & Tahiti) from sixteen years ago and all this has had me reflecting on just what a wonderful and lucky life we have had. We are certainly not rich in financial terms, we just work and save hard and enjoy ourselves. Thank you for such a wonderful video.
@danielpujol8266 Жыл бұрын
@bushmanpm : This IS the exact track used for the famous BA tv ad. McLaren made it specifically for them/the tv ad. Although the melody is taken from part of an actually very slow piece called The Flower Duet, in the opera Lakme by Leo Delibes, (in the late 1800s). I think I have this on the 45" record release of it, which had an image of the amazing aerial view of the large group of dancers in the constantly moving 'crooked face' formation from the tv ad on the cover sleeve. That tv ad must've cost millions to make! And no CGI or remote-controlled drones involved, all real people, real exotic locations, etc.

In the past, when British Airways used Boeing 747-236B or Boeing 747-436 passenger JET from London Heathrow to Beijing Capital and Hong Kong KAI TAK, this song was played on the cabin radio as boarding and landing music. Now British Airways flies to Beijing and docks at Daxing International Airport. It is currently operated by Boeing 777-236ER operates the flight. Currently, the Airbus A380 is used to fly from London to Hong Kong.

I am just a kid of the 80's and don't have the answers, (just fond memories) but it seems to me Malcolm Mclaren is going down in history as the composer of this beautiful piece of music. I suspect that I would not have to scratch to deep to discover that's not entirely accurate.

It's on Spotify as Yanni? Also says on google Yanni wrote the British Airways song too. At Yanni Live at the Accropolis in 1990s Yanni performed it Live. I'm very confused as to why yanni also is credited in some places as his song?

You can copy it from youtube and re-record as a mp3 or mp4, then upload your mp3s onto iTunes. I believe I used this link but do not remember 100%. In any case, there are many different links you can use which supposedly all do the same thing. I have no doubt that there are similar links, should you wish to convert to mp4. 9convert.com/youtube-to-mp3/en4

@@ro55do : Even McLaren stole it. The melody is taken from part of an actually very slow piece called The Flower Duet, in the opera Lakme, by Leo Delibes - in the late 1800s! Much as I like a lot of McLaren stuff: stealing and generally 'being a magpie' was his true skill and specialty for his whole musical career. He was more like a producer and curator in some ways than a musician.
