It's so nice how Ariana's daughter did a cover of this in 2016, but for me the 1986 version her mother performed will always be best ❤ Sigh, I miss the 80s.

Oh man,I still remember,summer of ‘86,just came from a Mötley Crüe concert and went straight to the bar,and there she was,dancing to this song jumping,and shining with her bracelets.I never were that much of a dancer but I tried anyway,after her friends leave we spend the rest of the night together ‘till the morning,we didn’t wanted to say goodbye,but she was leaving the day after,we kept in touch until she came back town. 32 years later,we hadn’t say goodbye at all,and I thank god for waking up by her side,damn time flies

I was conceived to this song in mid-83. It was still on the charts when I was born in March of 84 (at #2. Footloose by Kenny Loggins was #1). Just shows how much of a timeless classic it is. It was a huge hit then. Still great now.

Fun fact- radio almost didn't play this song because a pop/rap crossover hadn't been done yet. Ari and N.M.'s label had to get fans to call in requests to local stations. These two broke the color barrier with this song, and the rest is history.
