This song has a crazy sad meaning. Notice how everytime she ask can you imagine there's no answer. Because he's not here. And the whole concept of this lyric video is falling and crashing until there's just darkness. At the end when she asks "can you" she answers herself cuz she can't get over him. And at the end it's just a black screen as she keeps repeating the word "imagine" because all she can do is imagine. and the whole iceberg concept can represent a relationship that is literally falling apart

I really love the metaphor of this, and some people don't get it, every time she says *can you imagine a world like that?* It's just black noise, nobody answers her question bc there's no one, because he is dead. Also is like the iceberg is falling while the computer is broken it means the relationship is falling and you cant even read the lyrics like your relationship is in the worst moment and you cant understand what the other person says, or you can't say anything without getting misunderstood, at the end, is al black, while she ask him, why can't you imagine? After lots of replays, I think the background is more than just a cool effect and symbolizes life falling apart. At the beginning all is fine and beautiful, there are people on what looks like a raft chillin. Suddenly, the ice breaks and all they can do is watch as that huge chunk of ice goes plummeting toward them to their impending doom. Then everything distorts even more until it’s only darkness.

the production. the vocals. the lyrics. the hook. the delivery. the build. everything about this song is just so beautiful. proud to say that this is my favorite ariana grande's song of all time.

the falling iceberg represents her relationship and the fact that its mostly seeing the surface level falling apart and not understanding the depths of it shows how much the relationship was understandable from the "tip of the iceberg" and never was able to be seen deeper than the surface. its falling apart never able to be the same or even exist at this point. and also us as fans only got to see the surface level they were showing off with their relationship never being able to be understood by anyone but the two of em "step up the 2 of us nobody knows us". a rly good metaphor i found ties in imagination with icebergs where it says "Right at the water line of our metaphoric iceberg is where we imagine and dream. The imagination is a two-way communication medium between the unconscious and conscious minds. It functions as the membrane through which material and processes happening in the unconscious mind come into conscious awareness." meaning she is aware of his passing but still cant stop thinking what would be if this didnt happen. the glitch effects could mean the unexpected change she experienced with his passing away. a glitch by definition is "short-lived". in the blacked out screen shes communicating with the unconcious mind trying to still find her meaning and purpose. (thats all i got)
