This is what korean companies/composers should take note of. Some agencies always ask their idols to sing in a super high register which makes it uncomfortable for them making them strain while singing. Ariana is correct in so many levels.

@@kidawesomeness123 I believe Somi. An ex-JYPE trainee said JYP was set on them having a certain sound, with no regard to their natural voice. He pushed her into mimicking Aretha, and years of doing that resulted in: 1. Dramatically compressed vocal range 2. Uncertainty about developing own sound, and musical identity

@@MC-ko2mx gina everywhere! love her channel. its so unfortunate jyp forced her to change her voice when her tone is basically perfect for the trends in kpop *now*. a girlish pop sound is all the rage these days, and her original concept for debuting didnt even require an aretha franklin voice anyways.

Anthony Collier Eric arcenaux videos about breathing is extensive...i'm a fan of his..and in one of his breathing technique, he said your chest would move while u breathe if u're a trained singer..he also talks about using ur back to hold in air..so for me personally, having a broad chest to open up ur ribcage isn't bad..beyonce is a pro she's mastered the act of breathing.

She really only lifted the pitch of her voice and spoke quite softly for that character. She didn’t change the actual tone which can strain vocal chords. Although imitating other voices isn’t as damaging as yelling or screaming as those things are very straining.

Also the way she adjusted her voice to protect it in the beginning sounds similar to how she adjusted her voice to play cat so it’s possible she was actually using her voice in a healthy way on the show, esp. since her upper register is always there.

I can sing without strain in around F#5, I usually strain in D5 because I'm gonna be obnoxious around the house and I don't want my mom to scream at me loll But If I were to sing live, I'll use resonance and some special things so it's safer for my voice I'm also kinda surprised because I'm currently going through puberty and my lowest note is like a C#2 and I sound like a bass, and I'm shook that I can still hit high notes, with a different tone of course Ignore me loll, I'm just sharing my thoughts

It's ok, you can do it, you just need a lot of practice when you are free, for me I usually when to my home and starts singing and I have been doing it for 6 months and I was like "woah, did I really just did that? " and no I don't have singing lesson I trained myself and if you wants to sing in front of people but you are scared cause people looks at you, you imagine that you are in your favourite places and start singing and my singing trick is 1. Stand up (this is how you can control your singing) 2. Control breathing 3. Find you voice ( you can drink water if you have to) 4. Patience 5. Don't shout ( shouting can make it sound cracky instead of smooth and flow) 6. Practice

So … her vocal technique was simply ‘singing a lot’ ???! That’s literally the OPPOSITE of what most ‘vocal coaches’ say to do. Yesterday I watched a video of someone’s 10 year transformation - they literally started out sounding like a dying cat, and ten years of voice lessons later sound smooth and have much improved tone. That video was SO INSPIRING!! Today, I watch Ariana Grande basically say “I’d didn’t train much, I just sang a lot” …. which was what I did all the time in my teens …. and I feel like quitting again 🙃😝
@ShawnFumo
@ShawnFumo 2 жыл бұрын
She probably just naturally had a relaxed technique, which let her sing a lot and practice without hurting herself. Plus probably influenced by other broadway singers at the time, even if it wasn't conscious. She's certainly had vocal coaches too, though, later on. It isn't healthy to compare that way. Just get any help that you need and keep practicing. People have different paths to the same place..

I remember in old Mariah Carey interviews she always dodged those "how did you learn to sing" questions very well. I think the record labels wanna keep the techniques a secret. It's not really a secret now though, the internet has ELITE techniques that the greatest use, just have to know where to look.

Only time will tell for her actual vocal stamina, but I will say a few habits she has that could affect her voice later down the road (from a background in vocal pedagogy) is a LOT of breathiness, lots of jaw movement, and a head that is not always properly elevated, meaning whenever I watch her sing or perform her head is tilted up higher than it should be, which can cause major tension. She has a big voice and maybe even lot of potential to even sing in other styles, but vocal health and habits are what singers must be wary of.

Totally agree with her that one shouldn't force yourself to sound anything but how you really sound. Learn to sing in your natural voice...that's how you keep it going.

I’m literally one day older than Ariana June 25th 1993 and I think it’s awesome we both love to sing and find it funny that I always try to sing high even though I have such a deep speaking voice, I was a tenor in HS always a tenor at heart lol

Interessting, that her speaking voice is husky and her singing voice is crytal clear- but ok, she is a high soprano (like she said high notes are always there)- and than vocal chords are more streched and you sing on their edges.. many husky voices have either reflux (infammation) or the vocal chords dont close naturally 100% - a very beautiful woman by the way.. and very reflected about her singing

FYI - If you are looking for a great vocal coach. Seth Riggs has help a lot of great singers keep their range and develop technic. There are also Seth Riggs associates that teach his technic. Good luck

OMG I LIVE in my lower vocal range when speaking, ever since I could remember. In my teen years I would always say "My goodness I have a low tone for a girl" I DON"T have a low guy voice, its still sounds like I am a girl it just sit low. I don't know how I would feel if I have to sit up higher just to protect my singing voice. I hear that's what Michael did to preserve it so that he could continue to sing higher.
