So the reason the gearbox feels like that is because it’s a race box, and it’s not a Rotax, those came in 2008 with the 1125, the Firebolt has always had a harley derived 45° V-Twin

Came here for this. The 900 and 1200 were both highly tuned Harley-Davidson Sportster Evo engines, air cooled. The 1125 was a water cooled high horsepower high rev bespoke engine designed by Rotax for Buell.

Having had a a 12’ sportster 883 and now a 05’xb12r.. it’s crazy how the firebolt reminds me so much of my Harley. The loud clunky gearbox, and the good he rumble . But yet it’s fast and doesn’t look at all like one. Lovely bike for the garage.

I bought a last year of the lighter sportsters.03. then done hammer 1275 upgrade and upgrade suspension. It's not as fast and capable as these but it's allot of fun to ride. It is more comfortable for sure. Love these buells

Key features, The frame is the petrol tank, the swing arm is the oil tank, the fuel tank is the airbox and of course the large front dics..oh and Harley Davidson retuned motor

Harley donk= clunky box. Still cool as shit tho. Sold mine yrs ago, now want it back even tho i got a sick vrod i always had a boner for buells. Will sell my soul for the buell Super cruiser

My understanding is Yes and NO, as Buell is a sub-company that Harley funded for its RnD etc etc then Polaris got the rights then it became EBR and its own entity or something. it seems to change hands every 5 years or so.

These had a Harley sportster 1200 engine In them , later on when they went broke and come back again they had the rotex in the ebrs

They were to 05 I think. Then they used Polaris rotax motors I believe. I have the 12r firebolt myself. It has the 1200 sportster engine in it

@@AridersLifeYT Buell was killed off by Harley-Davidson in 2010. The 1125 model with a Rotax designed engine happened before that. Polaris had nothing to do with them. EBR and the current Buell motorcycle company are a whole other story.

@@AridersLifeYT Harley-Davidson shut down Buell in 2009. Eric took the 1200 Sportster Evo engine and rebuilt it to where it had 103hp. They also were all fuel injected something at the time Harley was just dipping into. The problem was it was a great bike with a prefect design being pushed and advertised by the wrong company which was Harley-Davidson. After Harley bought our Eric Buell's shares they shut down the company Eric Buell started his own company called EBR which started using the rotax engine. EBR is still in business today but focuses completely on racing. Eric is not involved with the new street legal Buells at all and Buell is completely owned by someone other than Eric Buell himself. Polaris never once had a hand in any of Eric Buells motorcycles. Also Eric Buell played a major roll in the design and development of the Harley-Davidson FXR which is still considered one of the best Harleys to this day over 30 years later.

Nah it’s definitely light for a 1200cc, and all about mass centralization. Erik Buell knew what he was doing.
