Confucian culture in Korea has many advantages. In a world where humanity has disappeared like the present, Confucianism can be very powerful. First, you can learn to respect others and learn to respect the elderly. These points can go far and lead to ways to respect others, and respect for others will make each other feel better and make society happier.

Agree. Traditional Chinese culture is slowly making a comeback in China. Much of the Confucian rituals I am afraid China must learn from South Korea.

화석정花石亭 숲 속 정자에 가을이 벌써 깊어 시인의 생각은 끝이 없어라 먼 강물은 하늘에 닿아 푸르고 서리 맞은 단풍은 햇빛 받아 붉어라 산은 외로운 달바퀴를 토해내고 강물은 만리 바람을 머금었는데 변방 기러기는 어디로 가는지 저녘 구름 속으로 그 소리 사라지네..... 1536년생 율곡 이이 선생께서 1543년 9살때 화석정에 올랐다 이 詩를 지었다.

I wonder how Confucius would feel about the ceremony for him, he probably would be honored by the demonstration of propriety but I know he would be a bit flabbergasted since he did not even consider himself a sage. The Master said, ‘How dare I claim to be a sage or a benevolent man? Perhaps it might be said of me that I learn without flagging and teach without growing weary.’..." ("The Analects" VII:34) It is a beautiful way to honor him, he has given the world so much, thank you for uploading this.

@@anonanon4320 yeahhhh but Jesus is more mystical and the story of Buddha is more religious and has elements of the fantastic. Master Kong was a teacher from a low aristocratic family in the state of Lu who traveled during the warring states erra. No elephant foretold his birth , he didn't come back from the dead, he wasn't born of a virgin.

@@VictorLaszlo46 The fact the you feel mystical about jesus and buddha is the fact the people have glorified them as a mystical or religious figure over the centuries. In the beginning jesus was probability a political figure among the jews.

@@MrJm323 uhh isn't it? Southeast Asia is the region from Myanmar/Vietnam to Indonesia, and when people say 'East Asia' they are usaully referring to only China, Korea, and Japan. Vietnam is surely in the Confucian circle of influence, but I think nobody would include it if they were asked to pick only three East Asian nations.

@@cymmo3317 ...Why would they limit themselves to "three"? Vietnam is definitely both "East Asian" and (as you say) within the Confucian cultural orbit. By contrast, countries like Mongolia, Tibet, Thailand are NOT within the Confucian sphere. (Buddhism has a far too powerful hold in Tibet and Thailand. Their royal courts and aristocracy never took to Confucianism as they never adopted Chinese court life or their educated scholar-gentry as models for their own elites. This is definitely one aspect that makes Vietnam quite different from Thailand, culturally.)

This was a well made out video. I hope to learn much more about Korea, but I believe it would be best to learn directly from a Korean family instead. Therefore, anyone who is Korean and is willing to teach me all about Korean history and etc., then email me at my side email address leemichikoc@gmail.com Thank you~ Saimdang was the best woman in Korea and she is highly ranked in heaven. She has such a beautiful heart. Saimdang's Light Story is a great drama to watch and learn such good actions. God corrects those He loves. If not, how would one know they did wrong and turn away from it. Yet, there is a right and wrong way to go about correcting someone. Also, if the parents do not aggravate the child, then the child will not have a reason to go against the parent. It has to do with the hidden evil within our hearts that must be gotten rid of. Lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life.
