This man was the sole importer of cement in nigeria and now his cement cost over $9 per 50kg bag while the cost around the rest of the world is less than $4. He has deep ties with all the corrupt government that has enslaved the nigerian people since the days of military rule. Nigeria has 4 refineries that corruption in govt has crippled and now all of a sudden this same man is building a private refinery to monopolize the oil production and then make a huge profit from hiking the retail price to poor Nigerians. you don't do thing to prove that you have brains too. why feel inferior. Development in other more responsible nations was due to necessity not that they wanted to prove brains. Building a refinery is now very classical and require no additional technology development. everything has been done decades ago by others. just copy it and paste and it need no brain. it might interest you to know that those manning the technical aspect of this plant are foreigners. Almost all the nigerians working here provide mostly the needed muscle and not the brains proving again the stupidity of our government not developing capacity through efficient educational curricula. it is shameful that a country like nigeria whose gdp is 95% oil and gas generated is building a refinery through a private person in 2021.

Some people insult Dangote and say successive governments in Nigeria hand over the Nigerian economy to this man on a plate. The question people should ask themselves is; is Dangote the first man or woman to get favours from the Nigerian government? And those that did, what did they do with the opportunities they had? They got oil black and oil lifted contracts, got the money and deposited the money in foreign bank accounts to the detriment of the Nigerian economy and it's people. They use the money to buy choice houses in different prime locations of the world. The money deposited in those foreign accounts are used by those banks to lend to their citizens and oil their own economies whilst our own economy and citizens suffer. That's exactly what's been happening. However, Dangote has used the opportunities he has to the corridor of power to make money that he has been investing in the Nigerian economy because he believes in Nigeria. Many businessmen and women have been emulating this real son of the soil. Only the stupid ones with no brains are still ferrying monies mostly stolen out of the economy.

Some politicians are the ones that only going to benefit from it. The country have been producing crude oil for years, but the citizens pays so much at pump to fill their car. In other oil producing countries petrol seem to be very cheap for the consumers, but in Nigeria their making the lives of their citizens miserable. Dangote refinery is just for some elites with self interest investment. What Nigerians need is 24/7 electricity by investing in solar power, windmills and nuclear power plants that’s what can bring foreign investment back to the country like it was in the 70s, 80s and early 90s.

@@omobaoni let’s even assume his wealth is stolen,he’s building a refinery that could damn near bankrupt him if things should go wrong, betting everything he has for something that would benefit so many and already is considering how much he must be paying in salaries alone. Others have chosen to buy houses around the world and build their own lavish castles with 20 car garages, and those are the least of their atrocities. I cannot blame anyone for having reservations about any African with money, for decades Africans have plundered their people like no other, but I think at least Dangote deserves to be given some grace for prioritising such a project when many of his peers with far less are living life in a far more self centred manner.

The biggest challenge we have in Nigeria right now is electricity. They need to build nuclear power plants to power homes and businesses. Dangote is a challenge to Nigeria! Positively so! Every right-thinking Nigerian must feel challenged, with pride, within their own space - whatever you do and from whichever angle you want to see it. I can only pray that all Nigerians, and indeed Africans, are able to see this project and the mindset that informs it, at once, as challenge and inspiration. If we’re so challenged and inspired within our personal space, large or small, we shall endeavour to do our best, just like Mr. Aliko Dangote. We must all borrow a page from his playbook. If he can do so much for himself and our country, we can have no choice than to do our best, within our own space, for ourselves and the country we call ours. I wish we had another Dangote in the power sector, who can break the jinx and radically transform that sector. A gamechanger in that sector in tandem with this petroleum refinery would bring seismic change and revolutionary economic boost to Nigeria. Thank you Mr Dangote for giving us the ability to dream again.

Other black people should really unite with them and listen to what they are saying so there can be unity across the continent and the race to push the people forward or at least the ones who care to go forward 👍 I'm soo proud of Nigerians (minus the corrupt leaders and politicians that want to hold them back) and I'm also proud of Sir Aliko, he is a great man 🇳🇬🇳🇬 I really lovee Nigerian because they really are the giants of Africa and have held that title for decades for a reason..they are one of the very few African countries that don't just push themselves forward but always put Africa on the map.
