Welcome to ARK: The Survival Stories! This is the fourth, final island video which follows Gaius Marcellus Nerva! The Survival Stories directly show the explorer notes of each of the survivors from ARK: Survival Evolved, as I seek to accurately visualize what happened to them. This video shows all of Gaius Marcellus's Notes notes in the game, existing only on The Island, from notes 1-30.
If you have any criticisms, let me know! I need to know what mistakes I made so that I can improve in the future. Tell me what you think about this, because I'm super excited for creating more, and cannot wait to bring all the other characters to life going forward on to Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Extinction!

I just binged the first 4 episodes. This was absolutely incredible, I plan to share this as much as possible. You, and the community you have made, have created a stunning look into this game that I personally did not know existed. I hope you are proud of your accomplishments with this series. Amazing work.

That said, we're reaching for even higher quality with the next couple videos, so stay tuned! I love Nerva and Rockwell’s relationship. “Ah yes we are indeed both very narcissistic but instead of being rivals because of this, we admire each other on our expertise.” You’d expect them to be enemies, but instead they are friends.

The ending was shockingly sad... He has such faith in what he believed to be godhood but he didnt understand and ended up losing it all and giving up... Nerva... Godspeed to him...

Nerva was also leader of the first, and most toxic, Megatribe in ARK history. Fortunately, he didn't get the opportunity to take it cross-map. :P

Being a general in the army of Emperor Trajan, the man who led the greatest expansion in Roman history, at a time when Rome was indisputably the greatest, unified power in the known world... To me it feels like his ego and focus on deification weren't entirely his own fault, but products of his time; until it gets the better of him towards the end, which he seemed to realise, it seemed like he truly cared for his tribe and it's prosperity.

I'd say Helena more so represents discovery/curiosity.

Tamers hold all the power in the clan. I hope in ark 2 they make skill trees a bit different than the ones from Atlas and make it where a clan needs at least 3-4 players to be properly versatile, but through time and progression players deserve a way to completely fill out they're merit skill trees. No special moves just all engrams and gifted abilities like maybe climbing, faster taming times, improved imprinting, enough movement speed (agility) gives you to ability to roll dodge and jump higher. Just simple stuff

The entire ending cinematic was incredible, but damn did I get goosebumps when the various characters from Scorched Earth appeared, knowing that this incredible journey will continue onto the next story map (and one of my favourites lore-wise). Can't wait to see that and all that follows, keep up the incredible work!

My favorite is Abberation. How this once regular ARK became a place for demons and devils. The element and metal everywhere tells you that technologically advanced people once thrived here, but quickly died due to the immense heat, mutated monsters that cane from dark, and the element that controlled Rockwell's mind. Amazing. P.S. pretty sure I botched the story but that's what I got from just the atmosphere and the world.

You know, it's very amazing how each character is represented as the hero in their story, yet the villain in someone else's. It really captures the idea of how people tend to see themselves as the heroic figure.

@@plaguedoctor5639 When you sacrifice a creature to take damage from turrets. It gets shot until it dies, and it soaks (or removes) the enemies' ammo supply.

It’s hard to find quality ARK content that focuses more on the exploration and wonder of the ark itself rather than the gameplay components and PVP. It’s so cool to see the story acted out by actual players and it beats the hell out of just scrolling through the wiki to read all of the explorer notes. This is truly inspired work and I hope that you find as much success in the story of Scorched earth as you did in the story of The Island.

He is a bit of a tragic figure but even more so once you know the story of Scorched Earth and realize that his efforts were doomed regardless. Even if he hadn't have gotten diverted by the obelisks and had just focused on fully unifying the whole island under his rule, the ark wouldn't have allowed that to go on for long. It can't abide a lack of hardship or conflict.

Why did I get so emotional at the ending? Seeing YOUR Ark character wake up to this land that has been walked on by some of the greats, not knowing the mysteries you are about to uncover for the first time. Love it

Yes, especially when Li May Yin fart Nerva and killed him, but in the process, she damage the transportation system by sticking her sword in it. The transportation system Who is used to teleports between arcs. That is what sent her to aberration.

I always imagined what the Island would be like after Helena, Mei-Yin, Rockwell, and Nerva left. Isabel would've run Rockwell Manor well, and I even imagined that Athena and Archimedes would be mates, and both would've been useful for any others. Yes, the rest of the New Legion would be decimated, especially since the Howling Wolves were free to take over their turf, but what else would've happened afterward?

Probably speculation, but as our survivors find a clean slate when our ark cycles begin, my guess is some tribe got strong enough to trigger the clean slate protocols.

Either the death of the Overseer triggered a great reset (which explains why the Island is empty when we arrive) or we land on an identical clone Ark, and Isabel and Archimedes and Athena all crash down to Earth when we kill the Alpha King Titan

I like to think that something similar happened to what scorched earth went through. After the four of them left, the obelisks destroyed the island, basically killing every human there and leaving the ruins. Or maybe we are the last hope, and whatever entity left the notes around for us to find, which would lead to us discovering the obelisks and the guardians. Would also explain why we have engrams, since there's no one else on singleplayer

It's sad that Gaius had the biggest let down in the game but to be honest it's kinda bullshit we beat the overseer and all we get is a couple experience boost I was expecting like some cool weapon or tool or maybe have one of the bosses as a tame

By far, one of the best, and my currently most anticipated, series on KZfaq. The only thing I waited for more religiously than this was Appsro's Subnautica Series on Neebs Gaming when it was first airing...and damn was the payoff worth it. I cannot wait to see Scorch and Ab, my two favorite ARK maps, get the same treatment.

Just watched all four back to back like an Ark movie. The potential is there for several more like this and I can't wait. This is honestly better than a lot of the drivel we are being given right now. I doff my hat unto you Sir. Very well done to everyone involved!
