Despite the unnecessary over abundance of reboots, remakes and sequels in both movies and television, I think an Ark II series in the 2020s would be very appropriate today. And this time, a new and modern Ark II series would not be aimed specifically at child audiences on Saturday morning. New technologies in the area of renewable energy and conservation could be shown, developed and forecasted as to where they might advance in the second half of this century. Maybe one of the cable networks like HBO, AMC or A&E could take a chance on developing a successful series audiences would be interested in watching.

While I agree, a lot of people would take just the first few seconds of the intro -- which talks about pollution and the environment, as too "woke" and political.

Here in 2023. There is now an impending computer game called Ark 2, or Ark II. It's a game sequel, planned for release next year. Yes, it's not the old show, which I used to watch as a kid, but it does have a similar premise of surviving, & of course a similar (or exact) title. The timeline is on another planet where you have to survive & your vehicle is not some RV-looking thing but rather riding dinosaurs, which on the surface is like being back into more primitive times, but the story is actually set in the future, much like in the this old TV show. Vin Diesel did voice acting & mo-cap as main character. As far as a proper remake or sequel to the TV show, I doubt it, as the show was somewhat boring to begin with. So if anything, this new computer game would be one of the close approximations & spiritual successor to the TV show, whether or not the game itself will be good & successful.

I suspect that someone's probably mentioned that to the powers that be, but unfortunately the rights to most of Filmation's properties is such a mess. But I would definitely love to see an updated version. This could be the kind of thing to bring back Saturday Morning TV.

As I recall, the pilots of the huge ark ship all perished and some primitive (by our standards) people escaped their biosphere, discovered they were on an out of control space ship and tried to take control of it. Each week, for some reason, they'd interact with people from a different biosphere.

Put them side by side, and they don't look much like each other.

The Landmaster was a much more built from scratch custom and cantankerous vehicle. Other than some vague lines in the nose they look nothing alike. Sadly the Ark II itself was disassembled to become the full sized Seeker prop/set from Space Academy and a Jason of Star Command shows. I still find it astonishing that Filmation came to own one of the Hughes Flight Belts. Which they used in this show. The jet pack isn’t a dude on a wire. That’s the real deal.

They're not in an enclosed cabin. They are in the smaller vehicle Ark II carried around in back.

It was due to climate collapse. And the ark went around to these tribes of wasteland survivors and brought lessons of humanism (no im not kidding). The show had an educational dept!

@@scotcarr3390 I did too. Im redoing 1977 as it matches 2022 day sequencing. Tom n jerry hanna barbera series, ark II, escape from bogen county, the lindbergh kidnapping case, james at 15, happy days, and thats just the tv. Movies n books too. Taking it right thru the year.

Movies include Star wars without cgi, saturday night fever, Another son of sam, The deep, Other side of midnight etc. And for music its limitless but I think im going for tom moulton and sone deep dives into Salsoul records. Even bought a handset for the cellphone and hung the whole thing on the wall using hooks and magnets. And uploaded an mp3file of an 8 track going ka chunk on the ipod for when i shuffle tracks to show up at random. Got it all ready for 1977. 2022s a bummer

This one would be so easy to reboot too. Just play with the title. Instead of just a post apocalyptic Winnebago, Make the Ark II a planned colony ship. A sleeper ship that gets stuck in earth orbit just before launch disaster strikes. When they wake up hundreds of years later they find the fallen world, and set out to restore civilization with their exploration gear.

I don't think the producers delved into the backstory. Ark II should have traveled with a military escort!

In some countries, it was shown in evening broadcasting. But it was created as a children's programme in the US and was shown on Saturday mornings.
