I ordered one yesterday, super stoked about it! Your great videos made me go with the Keyboardio instead of the ErgoDox EZ.

Very helpful videos! I've been looking at Keyboardio, ErgoDox, Kinesis Advantage, etc., but I have smaller hands and am concerned about comfort/usability (esp. thumb keys). Since you have at least a couple of these keyboards, it'd be great to get feedback from your wife (or anyone with small hands) on their relative usability. If you do make more videos, it'd be cool to see cursor control in action and see/hear how well dual-role keys work. Thanks for sharing!

If I had the cash, I'd buy you another one to keep at home. I'm sure your keyboardio is happy to be warm on the trip to and from the office though. :)

Thanks for the video. Mine is in MP3 and gets here in 2 days!!! I get lost and miss keys on the ErgoDox constantly and it takes a little bit to get things positioned just right ... you have the same problem and that makes me even more excited to get the Keyboardio

My hands are slightly larger than yours despite being only 6'0, so it's good to know it is comfortable for someone else with large hands (mine's on order at the moment)!

I finally bought one, it's on its way! For the mirror layer, did you have to manually code each key to remap to it's mirrored counterpart? or how did you do it?
@ArleyMcBlain
@ArleyMcBlain 5 жыл бұрын
I did it manually! See here: github.com/arleym/model01/blob/master/Model01-Firmware/Model01-Firmware.ino#L185

Hi Arley, I'm planning to remap mine once it arrives to the Malt layout. Since you cannot move the keys around, did you use stickers for your colemak layout or did you just work from memory?
@ArleyMcBlain
@ArleyMcBlain 6 жыл бұрын
I've been colemak for a couple years, I somehow effortlessly mapped it in my brain, when I see a "Y" I know it's a "J"! Weird.

Still using it? Would you buy it again? Can't decide if I should buy it or the Kinesis Advantage.

I am, and I did! I bought a second quiet one when I began working in an open office. I also have an Advantage, can honestly say both are excellent A+ boards.

Thank you so much for posting this Arley. I'm not a native english speaker, so... what are these you put the boards in? hoodies or something?

The word I used was "toque", it's a winter hat. It could be a Canadian thing? cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server400/711f1/products/67/images/341/ca2620_blk_dred__90297.1265412962.260.260.jpg?c=2 it works well enough!

Thank you! It is a great idea. I might get a cheap pair and even use them as dust covers. By the way, google translate thinks that, at least from english to spanish, a toque is a cook's hat. So maybe it is canadian slang after all.
@jordihernandez5474

Found out that 'toque' in french means 'cap'. So considering how you Canadians use both french and english, it is a canadian term. I'm such a language nerd that I just had to do more research about it. BTW, in Spain there are four major languages and several dialects, in a much smaller surface, all but one evolved from latin and arab with a pinch of greek and french. So you are actually lucky having only two major languages there :-)

a toque looks like it might be a "head-hugging" brimless winter cap similar to what we in the USA call a beanie, and maybe related to a cloche (from the French word for bell, iirc), but without the flare at the edge. it looks like it covers the skull, including the ears, and is maybe thicker than most of the beanie caps i've seen here in the US. by the way, since you like language, i think the word "beanie" might be because they cover you "bean", which is another word for head (or noggin. maybe there is or should be a kind of hat called a nogginie.. or maybe not).
