We have a good deal of experience with Arlo, through their ups, their downs, and their uncanny ability to crank out solid cameras year after year.

@Ninas I would suggest against it, been an Arlo customer for 2 years now. After watching so many videos of how great these cameras were I was seriously disappointed. My complaint even to this day, it is really bad at what it is supposed to do, which is being a security camera. I don't know how many times we will get flooded with alerts for motion which is outside our activity zone. To times where I get home and there are packages at my door with no alerts or video. Keep in mind if you are anywhere in the north where temps can go below 30 deg F, you will have issues with battery life. Also don't think just because you have an AC power cable going to your unit that it will always be on, if the battery starts going bad the camera will start giving alerts about low battery life and shut down even though it's plugged in. So many issues, so much frustration. I do believe it is mainly due to the wireless aspect of the cameras, because I have heard complaints about all manufacturers wireless cameras. The one thing that Arlo can control though is their tech support, I don't know how many times I have to go through OK remove your battery and power cycle the unit directions from support. I have the Arlo 3 floodlight camera and love it!! I just have it facing the street but now I plan to get the Arlo 4 thanks to your review! I might even get two!! 🙂

Thanks for the review. So helpful. Can you please tell me. if i leave the charger on and route it through the wall into the charging point im assuming it will be charged continiously right and basically record 247 without the battery being rechardged.

Just got the arlo pro 4 , 3 cam bundle from BB. Took some head scraching to figure out how to get our wifi to 2.4 gh , we have a dual band router, my wife figured it out thiugh and as soon as she did, they were easy to connect. Seem to be working great so far, I'm happy with them.

Great video dude. Thanks for being so detailed. I need this system to record continuously. Is that an additional amount on top of the plan? Also I read you can’t download the Continuous footage, which is pointless when you need it. People apparently use a 3rd party app. Do you know how this would be done. It’s like a make it break for me. I’m on the fence of purchasing this model because of that. Thanks dude! Cheers!

Continuous video isn't available with any of these DIY systems. Its a cloud storage issue.

Nice review. I have had a 3-camera Arlo Pro 4 system with the Secure Plan for a year now and am very happy. Having the Secure Plan is a must unfortunately to get the most out of the cameras. I had an older Arlo hub that is compatible with these cameras but they work the best connected directly to your WiFi network if you have good coverage. The smart alerts work great. Daylight picture quality is excellent but night vision is only adequate IMO, especially at distance. But, if anything is within 20 ft or so and the light from the camera is enough to give a higher quality color picture which is nice. I have had different Arlo cameras since the original Arlo Pro and one thing I have to say about their cameras is that they are well made. My original Arlo Pro cameras still work and I still use them. Arlo cameras are pricier than some others but the quality is there.

what is the integration like with voice assistants? Can i have those announce the different detection catagories i.e. there is a car in your driveway and/or a person walking up your driveway? a package being delivered etc?

Does it have 24 hour recording options? If so can you smoothly scrub through footage like you can with dropcam/nest?

Can this device work on a pc computer? My previous Logitech Alert Commander had a memory card and saved files to my computer, I don't want to overload my cloud or cellular usage.

I followed instructions to change video recording length. When I clicked on mode only armed disarmed schedule and geofencing show. When i click on armed nothing appears about changing video recording Thanks

I have the arlo pro cameras. When i first got them i loved them but long term they didnt stand up well. I have 2 cameras. A battery died. One camera completely stopped working after 2 years. I wasn't even using it full time I rotated between 2 cameras for 1 location. When it was time to charge I'd just put the other up since it was fully charged. Also both of my chargers stopped working after a couple years of use. How do these new cameras stand up over time? For a while my cameras were basically fake cameras.

Thanks for the info! I got the pro 4 3 camera bundle from Best buy and my cameras are a little different as for as the mount. Mine has a swivel ball mount on the back.

Bought two of these camaras. If you can get them on sale then good but do not pay regular price. They fog up and you cannot make anything out. The activity zones are a joke. It records what you do want at a distance then misses what you want at a close distance. I have had Arlo products for years and the convenience of do-it-yourself no wiring is great and how it works with the app is nice but the speed and delay to time is not great. Lastly, the battery does not last as long as you might think. Overall, I would give this a C+.

I've seen several reviews that mention latency issues with loading video in the app. Anything like that happening from your experience? Nice Jersey BTW!

Have read the lag and batteries are bad not to mention lots of false notifications. Installed 3 Blink outdoor cameras so far so good.

You say that is just how everyone kinda makes their money….. (subscription’s) Arlo makes a lot of money just selling their Security camera’s. Having to pay for a subscription to view our video’s when we are away from our home is just crazy. I just paid $799.00 + 15% tax here in Canada for the Arlo Pro4 camera’s. Very pricey!! Wish I would have done more research before my purchase. There are other systems out there just as good that do not require a subscription.

Yes, they work better wired for sure. But, I just added the Arlo solar panel for one of my cameras which is mounted high and a pain to change the battery and it works really well. So that is an option.

DO NOT BUY ARLO they discontinue and deactivate the cameras you buy every 4 years. So your camera will only last 4 years. Look up their EOL policy.

hoping this helps some ppl not waste 500 like i did. DO NOT BUY ARLO, CUSTOMER SERVICE IS PRACTICALLY NON-EXISTENT. i bought a 3 pack of the pro 4's so i can only speak for that product line, awesome camera WHEN IT WORKS. i have amazing wifi connection and not matter what they are constantly disconnecting, and getting them to be rediscovered by your wifi is NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE. THIS IS A FLAWED PRODUCT AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Arlo's customer service is aweful never buy this product.. I have never found something worse in my 30 years of buying technology products. Even after paying 1500 for equipment and 20/month for their subscription, they did a software update that took down my 4 cameras, have recovered 2 and have spent 7 weeks trying to speak to someone. You can only communicate through leaving a message on a web type form page, they keep saying the same robotic things. They don't read the problem and it goes on and on and on. There is no phone number since the service is in India. You can't speak to anyone. They say they will phone you and don't. It is aweful. We are now going to take them to small claims court to get our money back. The product BTW, we had the first generation that they shut down to start their subscription product so then rebought all second gen, has to be reset a min 2x a year for something going wrong. This was before our 2 dead cameras.

Arlo sucks. They constantly lose network connections. Shut down after 5-10 minutes of live streaming. Don't Buy Arlo. They want you to pay a premium for services other cams offer for free.

Arlo SUCKS! No support at all. Our cameras stopped recording, we can no longer turn them on and off, and can't download video. Tried re-installing app, no luck. Super expensive cameras that are worthless.

The Arlo Pro 4 is worthless. Absolutely will not work. Phone has spent over 96 hours "looking for your camera"... even after 2 hours of online conversation with the company, these POS's still will not come on line.. sending the worthless junk back ...
