Presumed world record, sadly this speedrun isn't too active
Different timing than some other videos, including sub section, excluding cutscenes.
Pacifist(?)/No saving or loading/No time acceleration

Around 10 seconds saved on driving, 10 seconds saved on flying over previous.
Improvable:
-Slowing down the plane as late as possible could save a couple seconds
-Wasted a couple seconds equipping the re-breather wrongly, might be irrelevant if submarine entrance is linked to keystone's dialogue
-Parachuting to keystone more directly

Hey, I posted the Arma 3 - Old Man Speedrun (13:07) video back in September 2020, it's really cool to see that the basic strategy of driving to the jet is indeed the fastest. I arrived at that path without looking at the scenario file or anything, just trial and error while playing. I tried the VTOL also, but I couldn't reliably get in and out of the airfield. I would always get bogged down at the bridge checkpoint, the way you maneuver through is really smooth, very nice. I kind of just forgot about the difficulty settings on my run, so I don't know if that has something to do with it (mixture of Veteran and Regular with higher enemy skill), but using the civilian car is such a huge optimization for the rest of the driving. I would usually get shot by the MG or the patrolling IFV at the airfield, so I needed the smokescreen from the Ifrit. I think you could shave a couple seconds off this time by ejecting down into Miller to trigger his cutscene, since the parachute opens regardless of orientation. Otherwise, I don't see how this could be faster, which is interesting to know. I liked this scenario and spent a lot of time playing it normally in different ways.

Cool! I definitely checked yours out when I started trying these. On high difficulties I'd not be able to mark the lab on my map so I'd have to remember its location, not a huge hurdle. I got the VTOL takeoff consistent myself, but landing the shots on the AA installations *and* lab is even more difficult, and even then its possibly still slower. I messed up the parachuting here.

well - as I know how this mission works internal I'm impressed devs got away with doing it this way it's possible to do such a mission in a way it all works within the same mission without have to split it up into several ones (one might could do the entire east wind campaign in only one big mission) - but have the ending unlocked right from the start? that could had been prevented easily let's see what A4 has to offer for us - and how broken it will be

Most missions are nicely bypassed when you skip stuff, an exception seems to be fast travel

@@marijn211 well, my point actually goes more towards this: old man is pretty much a single-player version of arma life and shows what arma3 was already capable back then sure they had to cut corners to make it work in a single mission without any loading - but, c'mon: miller already placed at the end with an active trigger for missiin end? - nah, that could had done better even with the limits of SQF and FSM same goes for many of the skipable stuff: what's planed to.happen later could had locked until previous stuff was done
